BEST LIVE VERSION OF BOOH
I personaly think the best version of bat out of hell is on the story tellers dvd
|
I love the Story Tellers version :-)
I was thinking the version on the MSO DVD ... I love hearing BOOH with the orchestra. |
Oops, my bad!
I'm going with the version on Bad Attitude! Anyone know where/when that was recorded? The vocal is awesome! While I'm here... anyone remember the Alive in Hell live album? |
Also.... can anyone tell me why my avatar has randomly changed from Jeff Bridges to the dude without the hair in the shades? Because it's really, REALLY, weird.

;) That was awesome. You totally had me for me a minute! Okay - BOOH Live! I'm saying the version on Bad Attitude (no idea where or when that was recorded) and, anyone remember the Alive in Hell album? |
BY the version on Bad Attitude do you mean the one on the Bad Attitude Live concert that was released on video? In which case it was recorded at Brixton Academy in 1985.
Or do you mean the live version that was released as a bonus "white label promo" single with one of the Bad Attitude single releases? Which was recorded on the Midnight Tour somewhere I think. That gets my vote. |
My version of Bad Attitude (album) has 3 live tracks on the CD - um, think they are Paradise, two out of three, and Bat!
|
Personally I like the MSO version but that is simply because I love to hear the song performed with the orchestra.

I'm not struck on the Melbourne stuff myself. Anyone remember the live tracks on the Bat II picture show video? I think that's probably the definitive for me of all Meat's live stuff. I know BOOH isn't on there... just saying ;) Shame it's not out on DVD!!!!!!!!!!!! |
the best unreleased version is of me out my back garden in july 2007!!
i was so good:lol: |
I like the MSO version the best..... i will listen to any of them though!
|
HEY what happened to my pic...??!!

Although it wasn't officially released, my other favorite is from the Welcome To The Neighborhood Beacon Theater Show :)) |

I like any BOOH version.... those songs always seem to speak to me..... |
my absolutely favorite version is with the MSO, the whole concert's just fantastic!...but to be honest i'm not truly care about where, when or how was it recorded, i just LOVE to listen this song ;)

If so that's my favourite, closely followed by the Live at the bottom line version from 1977 ***I see they got me spot on in terms of my pic...Mike King aged 40!*** |
Nope. The LATW one was from Germany somewhere (allegedly ) I too really like the Beacon Theater one. As for officially released then probably Meat Loaf Live, although it's a shame the end has been trimmed.
|
I wouldn't believe the booklet for LATW especially since meat has since said that For crying out loud was a soundcheck, it sounds very similar to the Beacon theatre performance
|
I'll have to compare them at some point.
|
IMHO It has to be MSO with LATW a very close second
Bat is such a dramatic song and the orchestral backing gives it that extra something that takes my breath away every time I hear it |

There was also a clip of BOOH on youtube from Youngstown at the end of Casa De Carne.
A lot of it was cut out. But I was blown away by it. Having not heard the entire song, I dont want to comment but it will be on my super deluxe edition of HCTB so I shall repost at that time! |

oh yeah thats right. hmm anyone heard the NYC version ?
|

I love both of those too, but I think my fave is the MSO one, I love the orchestra with it |
I like the Storytellers Version.
|
I like Meat's expressions on the storytellers version, especially the intensity for the last three "Like a bat out of hell" great to watch on the dvd
|
Anyone know if I can upload a straight mp3 to youtube? I have this version of BOOH (came with the 93 re-release of Bad Attitude) and, I promise you, it's like nothing you've ever heard before!!
(unless you've heard it before...)! |

|
It was indeed, and it's the most amazing brutal vocal I've ever heard on Bat! Is there anywhere I can easily upload the mp3 to so you guys can check it out?
|
Is it the one from Wembley '87?
|
I'm not sure I can't find the booklet.. which is frustrating in itself. I can PM a link to you if you want to hear it? :-)
|
The Doode is referring to the Nassau Colliseum BOOH. Not one of my favourites.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5JNzNSnOeM The version from Bad Attitude (live) re-issue 93... remains a mystery. |
There was a compilation album called Bad Attitude released in 1993 that had songs from BA and BBIS on it along with Paradise, 2OO3 and Bat from the Meat Loaf Live CD. The song you talk about is definitely from Nassau '78. This appeared on the BOOH anniversary rerelease.

 It's the same song! It was performed at The Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, New York, September 1, 1978. The difference between your one and the one Warioloaf uploaded is that one is a bootleg taken from a radio broadcast and has had the beginning lopped off to fit on Youtube.
|
yeah. evil one is right. i had to cut the beggining.
still think bottom line 1985 is the same as brixton 1985 but that is a different matter. the booh from both are eardentical |
...shit. You're right. Teaches me not to skim through a track while working :S Hey, with awesome credentials like that I could become a crack music reviewer for TVNZ (just like my idol Joanna Hunkin).

This is one of the strongest vocals i've heard for Bat. |

Doode. |
MSO and LATW are my two favorites I can't pick between them.
|
I like storytellers - the surround sound on the motorcycle solo on the DVD is cool and I really like the the piano before 'I can see myself tearing up the road...'
Oh yeah Meat sound OK on it too ;) Actually I think Meat sounds awesome on Storytellers  |

Been thinking about this. My Fathers Place is the new Best Bat.
|
Nonsense. If you love hearing the repetitive crash, crash, crash of cymbals then My Father's Place is the LP for you.

Been listening over a few bat tracks i haven't listened to in ages. The Hudson Theater one is the most overlooked Bats ever. And is FAR FAR FAR superior to the one of LATW. He has great note inflections that are absent from the LATW version. My current favs in order are:
|
Nay lad. Meat's voice falters several times on the Hudson Theater one, which is presumably why they didn't use it on Live Around The World. Someone must know someone who works in the BBC archives and is open to bribery. They'll have the master copy of the 'other night's' performance from Wembley '87. Now that's the best performance out there in my opinion. They'd also be able to get their hands on the master copies of Meat's Comic Relief '99 special (best Paradise) and the Hammersmith Odeon '78 show (best Took The Words.)
|
My favourite is definitely the MSO one. At the time the tour was called The Last World Tour, and Meat seemed to perform that concert as if it was his last ever show. He really pulled out all the stops and it sounded more emotional than ever. Plus the orchestra really added something special.

My favorite is still this, as its now in my greatest live version collection:

Melt Down in 1987, Live with MSO and when I went to see him in Birmingham UK!!!

great version in my opinion (far better then meat's live versions from 2005 to 2008 ), but i dont think it holds a candle to the live versions I listed or the original studio cut. But his to his own :) |

MSO....followed by several Hang Cool Tour bootlegs that - if they had bee HD quality audio - would have likely surpassed or been on par with MSO.
