Who's RJ and what happened?

Evil One 12 Sep 2009 18:11

RJ is Radiomaster who unfortunately was born with his testicles dangling from his forehead obscuring his vision.

Excellent news. He must have been very worried with the risks of that particular operation.

RadioMaster 12 Sep 2009 20:16

Thanks guys! We've made it back to cologne. Everything went as good as it could have.
Wont be online a lot the next few weeks though, as it's still hard for me to read, especially on a screen. You cant believe how relieved I am!!

Sarge 12 Sep 2009 20:45

been to the first check up this morning, apparently the recovery is going well. Conjunctiva is a little sore but that's about it. Doctors says full recovery will take about 8 weeks, unfortunately I wont be able to see properly until then as well.

Hmmm... *thinks* If RJ's going to be able to see properly, does that mean we've got to tidy up the forum?

angelica 16 Sep 2009 23:02

Great news RJ ... so glad things are going well!

mszee 20 Sep 2009 21:03

Very good news...I am very happy...sorry so late...my broken back is driving me nuts!

RadioMaster 21 Sep 2009 10:03

went to the second weekly check up this morning.
The doctor says if he'd have to mark my status, he'd give it an A+. Apparently I went to one of the best surgeons around, as the state of my recovery today would usually take 3 to 4 months.
It's still a long way to go though. The eye is still very sore and I have to be very careful for the next 1-2 months.

My sight is improving daily. And since yesterday I'm able to spend more than just a few minutes in front of a computer or tv without being in pain or tears.

Hypnobabe 21 Sep 2009 10:46

Fantastic news RJ, I'm really pleased for you x

SamCat 21 Sep 2009 12:42

Brilliant news hon i hope you carry on improving at this rate!!

vrg 21 Sep 2009 21:19

I'm so glad to hear the great news. It does sound like you got the best surgeon. Take care, and carry on; the time will fly along - look how fast your second checkup came along.

RadioMaster 05 Oct 2009 17:01

well...

as I couldnt do a lot anyway, I just went to my hometown for a week. This morning I've been to another check up, and apparently everything looks great. Recovery is on a very good way 3 1/2 weeks after the op.
Also did the first proper vision test this morning. As of today I see about 10%, which is twice as much as before, with the option of an increase to about 20% within the next six months. Unfortunately though, they cant perscribe me proper glasses until everything healed up completely and the eyesight has stabilized (about 6 months), so until then reading will be a bit tricky.
I bought some cheap reading glasses for a few € though, theyre good enough to sit at the computer for a longer period of time. They should help me until I get the proper ones.

Next check up is in 4 months, so they're not so worried anymore.

Really pleased for you RJ,at last things are starting to go well for you,

RadioMaster 25 Oct 2009 20:59

It's been about 6 weeks since the OP now and it looks like everything went well.
Went back to Bremen for the final check up on thursday, and, except for a minor infection the recovery was a complete success.
I'm off most of the subscribed medication and basically dont have to be too careful with reading and working anymore.

Sight has inproved drastically, the two major changes are (1) that I can walk through the streets again, without being afraid of crossing red lights or being run over by a car I dont notice until the last second and (2) that I can finally read books again.

Looks like the health troubles and constant up and down that started nearly exactly a year ago are finally over and done with.

Looking forward to the future and what's to come...

R. 25 Oct 2009 21:15

 Being pushed under oncoming traffic is still a danger that RJ has to face every day.
The price he pays for being him :p

Good news though mate
