This is profiting from an artist that is no longer with us and shows absolutely no remorse or respect, it breaks my heart and really upsets me that people do this !

1- Newspapers/magazines run a "tribute" issue with so called exclusives
2- The growing trade in RIP MJ tee shirts
3- The seller on ebay listing their MJ stuff
4- Tours showing the house where he died

You're always gonna have someone making a few bob out of any situation, personally I wouldn't go hell for leather outta the guy listing/selling any of the above.......the real muppet is the one falling/paying for it.

Yeah but so are Hello, Ok and every other magazine and newspaper...people know there's a market so they try to supply to the demand.

All these tribute issues are done to make more money and increase readership. Sky didn't put on an hour long tribute show to honour Jackson, they did it so they could make more money from advertising revenue.

In times like these, people want to make as much money as they can as quickly as they can. I have no problem with people wanting to sell the tickets, the inflated values i do have a problem with, but somewhere someone wants to buy them.

The eBay offers for sale are going up and being stripped off quicker than cheap wallpaper on a caravan wall .. best so far was one with two "bids" for $9,999,999.00 (perhaps the highest numbers eBay will accept?) .. against that you have to love the UK entry, with a starting bid of £200 .. if you're going to scam, be modest :)

Most are from sellers who only registered to put the "item" on, and the starting levels make them more hoaxes of the "send this to everyone you know and AOL will donate 33 cents towards the cost of this dying child's operation" cruel nonsense .. that internet graffiti that some seem to do just because they can ..

But as others have said .. anyone who bids is daft .. and it's the buyers and bidders for this kind of nonsense who create the market for it, whether it's ludicrous auctions or trashy magazines. If they didn't sell there'd be no point in wasting time and money putting them into the market.

Channel 4 here is putting on some "The truth behind ...." about MJ this week .. as if! I'd love to think that people would all vote with their feet as I shall do .. but no doubt loads will tune in and watch .. and Channel 4 will feel justified, as will their advertisers ...

It's how Big Brother keeps managing to clog up so many channels for so many interminable weeks every year ...

Agreed. And it will go on and on .. Princess Diana was a less contraversial figure than MJ, and think how long it went on after her death, and still surfaces from time to time .. just as it did and contnues to do with Elvis.

There are so many terrible things done in the world like rape, murder, child abuse, gay bashing, racist attacks etc etc which really hurt and damage the victims, that I really can't get that upset or sickened by those who try to proffer from the death of a famous person, those who give them the opportunity by queuing up to offer their money, or those who put spoof listings or bids on eBay (because I can't believe the one bidder who's bidding millions on moat of the "tickets" listed is serious .. nor probably those bidding thousands for used ticket stubs after the event). It's tacky, it's tasteless .. but if it makes you feel that bad you're better off listening to MJ's albums and avoiding the taradiddle that was bound to surround his demise. As to his family, as I've said before, it's not pleasant, but I doubt it's come as a shock to them.

Today it goes with the territory when you have that level of fame and celebrity, and the level of worship and curiosity that people have, and the lengths to which they'll go to satisfy it. It's the way of the modern world .. we can't prevent it and you're probably better to cushion yourself by ignoring it Emma.

Yes I find it crazy people get more upset about this stuff than say the 10-12 people of the mjjcommunity website who have all committed suicide since Michael Jackson died because they are "lost" without him or that family who all died in a fire in a flat in London over the weekend or all the young kids we have lost in the recent wars, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. .....

But then I personally do like to put things into perspective and just think I could always be worse off.... I can understand most people don't do this.

Well I wouldn't describe those who feel devastated by events "crazy" even I though I don't share their depth of feeling .. I just acknowledge that some are and think they're better to try and ignore the media and eBay jackals. As to the suicides referred to .. I don't know how much truth there is in that, although if some people had nothing to hold onto in their lives save their devotion to him, it's a sad reality and reflection on our times I think.

And even though like you I don't share the depth of feeling and sense of loss many of his fans do, whilst I'll say I think there are worse things in the world for me to feel bad about, I don't find MJ's death something to make fun of, nor would I try to wind up those who have taken it so hard. I'm not suggesting btw Andrew that you have done this .. but I think it's a poor show that there are those who would :(

we all at some stage live our lives through something or someone...some just go that little bit extra and sometimes they never come back.

this huge unavoidable MJ business is also for people who want it to be, so I leave it to them. I avoided watching tributes on tv and didn't buy any magazines or read any forum about him. Long live the music. Peace.
As for people killing themselves over MJ's death, I find this even sadder ...

I just watched the news where they were showing the highlights of the tribute show thing memorial service whatever it is called. The thing that did stood out for me was when MJ's daughter spoke out and you realise the humanity of the loss for his own family. The rest is all background imo. I am kinda glad it is over now. I hope the media will respect the family and just stop talking about all this now. Probably won't happen.

The music lives on forever. I listened to the track History on the drive home. It's a fantastic well put together song imo.

I really wanted to watch this but we had to go out.

I did not like Mariah Carey, sorry to anyone who likes her.

But the little Michael montage I managed to glimpse before leaving left me with one or two tears.

To be fair they probably really did their best on the tribute. Thought his brother singing Smile was probably a good idea. Was surprised to see the casket was actually there. I will make a toast to him when I am in Disneyland next week as he deserves that from me personally. His music has made a huge impact on my life. Probably on the same level as Meat Loaf / Jim Steinman, Roxette and Bruce Springsteen I'd say.
