Don't Forget The Lyrics link with two clips

Will Meat Loaf Forget The Lyrics Next Friday?

The second one is too adorable...

PEARL: C'mon dad, sing it with me.
MEAT: Ah I will.

Thanks for posting the link MeatGr1 :))
I love both of the clips ... Pearl was amazing. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing the entire show.

Did you notice Patti standing on the sideline cheering them on ? Hopefully she and Meat will also be singing something together on the show :))

Vicki

Siobhan 15 May 2009 16:22

i love how they just keep on singing way after they have done the lyrics needed! cant wait to see the whole show!

Sarge 15 May 2009 18:00

Pearl proves again what an excellent singer she is. :D:up:

allrevvedup 15 May 2009 18:43

couldn't get a picture up for the second clip, but Pearl was very good in both.

You could tell on two out of three that the tempo was higher then usual for him, but he sounded decent enough

thats what i noticed too...but wasnt it even faster than the album version? or am i too used to the recent live versions by now?

RSG 15 May 2009 21:17

I also saw glamerous Patti! I heard somewhere he only did this show for Pearl! And the charity of course :) When was this episode filmed anyone know?

RadioMaster 15 May 2009 22:05

must have been some time in late 2008, autumn i think

i think it's a bit of both...i prefer the slower live versions anyway, even though the original is hard to top.

duke knooby 16 May 2009 01:16

i liked the 2nd clip more... it was great!!

bobbin 16 May 2009 17:02

meat didnt sound good to me in the first :-(

Pearl rocked the second :-)

Pudding 17 May 2009 00:04

Didn't I read somewhere that Meat only did the show to support Pearl and it wasn't really about him?

Pud

Yes ... I read that too. I think t was in an interview Meat did about the show :-)

Pudding 17 May 2009 01:21

I think it's great that Meat's supporting his daughter by taking a backseat to some degree, but it's inevitable he'll take more of the focus. Pearl is a good singer and she didn't just fall out og the ugly tree, but her songs aren't really strong enough to stand out on their own.

Got to agree there, sounded terrible :( , although, I think anything karaoke sounds terrible, I think he would usually go through some vocal exercise if it was something more serious.

agreed, still needs to find the right music, it's a shame cos i love her voice and her version of nutbush city limits is awesome.
It is great that Meat stood back on the second and let Pearl show her stuff!!

RadioMaster 17 May 2009 09:46

I think he tried too hard to make it sound professional. He shouldve just sang song instead of all the vibrato, etc
Still a nice watch though :-)

I thinks it's the case of always being the son or daughter of someone famous thing

Example:

" oh yes isn't she the daughter of Meat Loaf, oh he's a great performer "

The focus shifts away, as Pudding said earlier, it can be hard to gain your own spotlight, instead of just being known for your famous parent or parents, because it happens to alot of others, although many do gain their own famous reputations.

She a cracking singer though !!!
:D

I agree. His vibrato often appears tense to me. He once said "I don't think, I just do" (around the time when he was best). I wish he'd remember that. ;)

Yet I don't think it sounded that bad. Not great but okay, considering the circumstances.

absolutely. we cant judge this the way we judge concerts. it's a karaoke show and nothing more. Besides we've only seen 1 1/2 clips of him, so it's way too early to build an opinion. I'll judge it when I've seen the whole thing. (hopefully soon)

mszee 23 May 2009 02:40

So I am watching this now...it's BRILLIANT!!!

Truly brilliant...I hate the show but Meat makes it entertaining...

Few funny moments like Patti calling herself Meat Patti...thought it was funny...and Two Out of Three as one of the choices for rock...and, of course, a lot more embelished stories about the name Meat Loaf...well, I am back to watching the show now...but it's truly worth seeing!

mszee 23 May 2009 03:00

I am giving this show my ravest reviews EVER!!!

Wario 23 May 2009 03:03

he walked away, i bet the million dollar "number one song" was AFL.

I second that :))

Patti was great. Meat and Pearl were brilliant .. I laughed and cheered along with them the entire time.

It was a tough decision for Meat .. but I'm glad they stopped when they did.
They raised a lot of money for a really worthy cause .... they can both be very proud of themselves :-)

mszee 23 May 2009 06:59

I actually absolutely respected him for walking away...just showed that he is not as egomaniac as he sometimes may appear...

Vickip 23 May 2009 14:48

I totally respected him too ... like he said, it was all for the kids :))

snider22 23 May 2009 15:14

I to agree with his decision to stop at 500,000, props for that. I think both Meat and Pearl sounded great, good show.

I think from that clip it was pretty obvious Meat used what he had, not a great singer as such, anymore but a great performer (i include the running round and overacting) and Pearl used what she has which is the potential to be a really great singer.

Fair play to them

Pudding 24 May 2009 05:24

Pearl singing Piece Of My Heart has to be the highlight for me, carrying on singing even after getting the lyrics was awesome.

They should have gone for the $1Million, especially with a guarantee of $100,000

Pud

mszee 24 May 2009 05:55

I am not very strong in math but somehow $500,000 sounds a whole lot more to me than $100,000.-...especially with two people who didn't do that great and used up all their lifelines...never forgetting the fact that they were not gambling with their own money...

Pudding 24 May 2009 10:46

To quote some muppet from THIS post ...People are entitled to their opinion though... I believe I gave my opinion.

Had Meat wanted a guarantee sum of money then he'd have taken the $25,000 offered at the start of the show and walked, but he didn't, he gambled up to $500,000 and both he and Pearl did very well. Am I the only person who believe in Meat & Pearl enough to think he could have gone all the way? F*ck me, there's a surprise

Pud

The Flying Mouse 24 May 2009 11:15

 I haven't seen the episode yet, but assuming it's a simalar prize money system as Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (it sounds like it) perhaps Meat was willing to financially cover himself too a point if he made a rash feck up.

If I was a star, I had the money in the bank, and I was doing something like this for charadee, i'd be terrified of betting with that charaties money. And if I did a monumental feck up i'd want to see the charity OK out of my own pocket so then don't lose out because I was overconfident and lost the lot.

Meat might have been willing to stump up the $25K if it all went wrong to save face and not let the charity down, but would he want to stump up half a million to cover his losses?

If it was for himself, sure he could and should have gone for it, but you can't play around with someone else's money like that.

And then they wanted to be able to claim £5000 for a mtaxi on their expence account

vrg 24 May 2009 19:14

I loved the show: Meat was Meat, and Pearl was unbelievable. They both did themselves very proud.

I'm glad Meat stopped at $500,000; you can't beat that, and as he said it was for the kids, and that amount is nothing to sneeze at. But I could also feel how torn he was to not go for the $1 million. And I can understand him not wanting to take a chance, and losing $400,000 if they couldn't get the $1 million clue. In the bad economy we are in the middle of, every buck counts now, especially for a non-profit; they are suffering terribly, including non-profits who aid people in need, and help people with special needs, like Painted Turtle. Pud, I don't disagree with you in principle, but I definitely understand and support Meat in his taking what he had won for the charity.

Wario 25 May 2009 05:48

just wayne even said "a number one hit' for the million dollar one. Imagine if it was AFL. LMAO that would suk

bobbin 25 May 2009 08:25

that wouldve been stupid lol and the few celebs who did go for it didnt have their songs for million dollor one so while i think between the two of them they must know enough music to do it, what they did win was a a hell of alot compared to many other stars. Somehow i dont think they kids are gonna criticise them for stopping.

Pudding 25 May 2009 10:05

That was exactly my point...NOBODY yet won a million on that show...must have been a good reason...

That's no recommendation :))

Nobody has won the $1million prize because no one has been given the guarantee of $100,000 if they went for it.

I still find it odd that me of all people seems to be the only one who has the absolute faith in the ability of Meat Loaf and Pearl to win the top prize :wtf:

Pud

RadioMaster 06 Jun 2009 16:19

I've just seen it (thanks to Jayd ;)) a few days ago.
I have to say this is the best tv programme I've seen him doing probably since AI in 06. Here he could really show off what he is: a singer and an entertainer. Appearances in childrens shows and republican political talk shows are good to keep him in the public focus, but dont really do anything for his image as an artist. (they even make him look dated in some way)
This show did, in a great way.

Another thing that might be underestimated:
This was probably the biggest appearance for Pearl as an artist in her own right (sort of) on tv. I can imagine quite a number of people will now be checking her music out, especially after her rendition of Piece of my Heart. Well done Pearl!

PS: Didnt she drop the band name 'Mother Pearl' years ago?

PPS: do we have any info on the ratings of the show?

I am so not going to comment on Meat's "if we make 500.000, we go for the million" remark, in light of all the previous discussion about that.

Well, dammit: now I went and brought it up. Bad me.
