Some terrible News

I have been BANNED from youtube

This is unfair! UNFAIR UNFAIR!

i was posting meat regularly for 2 years and they decide now to ban me

All my work down the drain, all the rarities i shared are down the drain

:(:(:(:( - i gotta video ripper for nothing

Whoever subscribed to me, don't be disappointed if I'm not uploading anymore

daveake 14 Jan 2009 14:15

Did you get any warning? Did you get any videos pulled first? What was the reason given for you being banned?

Dave

Dave

"Numerous accounts of copyright infringement"

daveake 14 Jan 2009 14:20

OK, but were you given a warning or was your account closed without warning?

Dave

without warning. i went to bed woke up this morning and found it deleted

mszee 14 Jan 2009 14:25

One would think they would give you at least one warning?

Indeed. I had a video pulled once, and got an email saying something like "if it happens again your account may be closed". So I'm a bit surprised if there's no warning whatsoever.

Come to think of it...I had a couple of videos disappearing without any explanation and/or warning...just gone...just remembered that...

MeatGrl1 14 Jan 2009 15:23

Same happened to me !

No warning, woke the next morning and was told that my account was either banned or suspended so gave me no time to save anything.

daveake 14 Jan 2009 15:45

I don't understand this "not being able to save anything" ... surely the video files were on your PC first when you uploaded them, so you still have them?

Dave

MeatGrl1 14 Jan 2009 16:02

I tended to upload then delete... Wish I had kept them as some I cannot find anymore :(.

daveake 14 Jan 2009 16:33

Tsk! I always have at least 2 copies, usually more, of anything I want to keep.

That's awful wario. I have loved looking at the superb clips you've put up. It's weird that they have to be taken down when there's no way for fans to buy them. I'd happily pay for any footage..it just isn't there to buy. No one can be even potentially be losing money if the clips, mainly from tv, aren't available to buy on any format anyway. And it's always about money sadly, isn't it?
I love the music and the videos and it makes me sad that fans like me can't look or listen because of perceived financial losses that aren't happening anyway. You can't buy the footage..and you can't look at it on YouTube. As a fan i find that a lose lose situation.
Thanks for all you've done anyway Wario. x

~Helen~ 14 Jan 2009 20:55

Wow that really is a shame - I really enjoyed the videos Wario posted, and many of them were things I would never have seen otherwise - many rareities so it is a real shame to lose your vids Wario!

Ankie 14 Jan 2009 21:31

Im so sorry to hear this, Chris...

I would have said you're on the right track...but if it was him, wouldn't it have happened a while ago?

Good Point....... Mabey Youtube just discovered my video uploading activities

RadioMaster 15 Jan 2009 08:37

did he call you adolph? lol

For crying out loud 15 Jan 2009 13:32

thats a real shame mate, you had some brilliant videos, especially of young meat. i especially love the johnny b good and river deep, mountain high vids. thank god i downloaded them while they were there. so is it a permanant ban?

Ankie 15 Jan 2009 19:01

Just now I discovered several videos that I added as a favourite to my Youtube account now got a few little red words added: video no longer available. Not only vids from you, Wario, but amongst them are also ones of Aputey....

Also I have to mention it includes vids of other artists, hence I think it ''only'' has something to do with the owners of the site.

Thats what i basically was on there

mickp 15 Jan 2009 23:20

aputey will return, probably. He was just hacked off with youtube for doing that to WL, he want to save the site for other stuff in future so took down the videos to avoid falling to the same fate as WL. He's left some vids up there and has put one or two others up that he's not posted before

mszee 16 Jan 2009 01:06

Can somebody translate this? I am not kidding or being sarcastic...

I don't care about grammar...I just didn't get it at all...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

mickp 16 Jan 2009 15:29

The grammar is not that bad for a late at night post!

Warioloaf is right in his interpretation. I, long time lurker and aka 'aputey' (as in Arthur Pewty, that well known monty python typing error), was just a bit brassed off with youtube so I was contemplating drawing a line under my video sharing exploits and getting back to some real work. I took the vids off but they may well reappear (all fully backed up daveake!) in a different order with some new ones perhaps. I could repost some rare ones that warioloaf put up - he had a few that I didn't but I'd need his copyright permission for that!!!

Alternatively I may just go back to chartered accountancy, or lion taming

mszee 16 Jan 2009 15:50

I don't care about grammar...I just really didn't get it but I understand now...

If I had to chose between lion taming and chartered accountancy (something that I do do)...I would choose lion taming...simply because you die fast and hopefully don't suffer as much...

Good boy! ;-)

I've been pretty anal about backups since an incident when transferring my 200+ albums to mp3. After each conversion I'd copy the mp3 to a second hard drive, so if one failed I'd have the other one. I was about 6 months into the process when I needed some spare hard drive space temporarily for something else. So I deleted the mp3s from one of my 2 hard drives. Within hours the other drive failed!

So these days, all my mp3s are on 2 drives at home, 2 more at my office, and another set on a portable drive used to update the office copies from the home copies. Same goes for videos, photos and anything else not easily replaceable. There are DVD backups too. So unless an earthquake goes through my home and office, or someone nukes both locations, I'm safe :-)

Dave

This is what I would call a type A personality at it's best!!! I take my hat off to you, sir...well, I would have if I had one on anyway...

daveake 16 Jan 2009 16:42

I thought it was a "Never make the same stupid mistake twice" personality ;-)

i'd be more disappointed if he didn't...there must be something wrong with a person if that fool likes them.

mickp 16 Jan 2009 18:08

I share Dave's obsession with back up but the real key that he (and I) have sussed is off site back up. A couple of friends have all my rare stuff also so I'm pretty convinced I have all bases covered.

Apple time machine takes a lot of the fuss out of regular back ups to cover things like disc failure

Funny - in the old days we never worried about things like offsite storage of photo negatives and duplicate copies of LPs. Life is simpler they say?

MeatGrl1 16 Jan 2009 19:39

As SJP says in one episode of S&TC:

"It's me the girl that doesn't back up !!"

I have learn't my lesson now though at the time I didn't have my own computer and so it seemed logical to load them somewhere then delete them but as I now have my own computer I feel less at ease in keeping any data on here as I know I'm the only user and so can save whatever the hell I want to on it  !!
