Bad Attitude

What would it take to get Meat Loaf and the record company to remaster and release Bad Attitude?

carole 16 Dec 2008 04:04

I have no idea what's involved in that sort of thing, but since Meat's no longer with that record company, it would be difficult to organise I would imagine.

when you make assumptions like that, make them correctly.
The thread is about Bad Attitude LIVE.

Evil One 16 Dec 2008 11:41

Bad Attitude doesn't need remastering, there's two versions of it already. Now Dead Ringer on the other hand is a different matter entirely!

Is there much difference betwwen the two versions?
I've got the Arista one from 1984, distributed in the UK by BMG..what's the other one?

Evil One 16 Dec 2008 12:25

The USA release. Different versions of Bad Attitude, Modern Girl, Surf's Up, Sailor To A Siren and Piece Of The Action. The main difference is the lack of distortion on Meat's vocals. It sounds much better.

Look for the RCA one as opposed to the Arista one

Arghhh!
Ordered the cassette of what i hope is the RCA one. it was almost impossible to be sure from the Amazon listing....and also of BBIS..didn't have the approx £100 to get the cd versions.....
and now realise i have no idea how to transfer thenm from tape to cd so that i can listen to them properly.

Can anyone help me...or will i just have to listen to them tweeting sadly on my old tape player...:retard:

mszee 16 Dec 2008 20:27

It's not extremely common but CD is available from time to time at a decent price...did you buy casette by mistake?

belladonna-took 16 Dec 2008 20:36

i ordered the cassette because it was a 3rd of the best price i could find for the cd version...thinking that i could transfer it to cd on my tape/cd player. Only after submitting the orders did it dawn on me that the cd player...isn't a cd recorder. I used to copy cds to tape...18 years ago now, eek..and forgot that it didn't work in the other direction!

Both the cds cost over £30 each....and i'm financially embarassed as always!

Wario 16 Dec 2008 20:49

The US version is better stans Surfs Up (meaning UK Surf's Up > US version)

I also agree, BA needs re mastering. Theres an odd volume change in Cheating in your dreams that always annoys me

Should have told me...I could have gotten it probably for $20 something...I thought even that was pretty high...but it was the cheapest I found...I also had a tape and was replacing it...

I don't know if anybody here suggests something more useful but I know at least one place here which does that kind of stuff...transfer from tape to CD or vinyl to CD...if worse comes to worst...maybe you can find a place like that over there...

With this said...I would love to hear BBIS re-mastered...that one I think needs it the most...

 YES.
There's some good songs on the album, but the production lets them down.

Nothing will happen though unless (perhaps) Meat does something really big.
Bat III should have been the "event" that brought Meat bak to center stage, but I just don't think it was pushed enough.

Que all the off topic digs at Bat III..................

YADDA YADDA YADDA YADDA YADDA :bicker: :raspberry:  :p

And back on topic................................

The success of Bat II showed the record companies that Meat WAS a seller and that it was worth while pushing products with his name on them.
He showed them he still had his old fans, and that he was capable of generating new ones.

Unless he makes a big noise, his influence will not be felt by record companies he is not working with right now, and those companies will believe it's not worth polishing an old album because those who want it have it

I must admit i'm rather dreading the dance beat. Only heard live versions of the BBIS songs before..totally sans disco jiggle!

I always think the track 'Bad Attitude' itself sounds as if it was recorded down a drain with the fuzz pedal turned up on the UK release. That's one of the reasons to get the US version..and the other is another version of Surf's Up. How i adore that song!

samurai7 17 Dec 2008 00:22

Piece Of The Action runs longer on the UK Version, Bad Attitude is (slightly) longer on the US version. The UK mix of Modern Girl is a MILLION times better than the US mix, and as mentioned, Surf's Up and Sailor To A Siren are different too. When I put them on my iPod, I did my own custom version of the album, with my preferential versions, so that way I get my own ultimate BA experience.

I do the same :D

Cheating in your dreams has a weird volume change, any one else notice this?

Gotta say, though, the UK MG is terrible. The ending echo is terrible and confusing while the US version / Very best of version is clear and not too complex.

The Arista one is the one I have too. Is the RCA one a different cover, or the same. I just bought a different Midnight At The Lost And Found to the one I had before.

Carole

AndyK 17 Dec 2008 14:32

I'm pretty sure that the Arista and RCA Bad Attitude are the same cover ... at the very least any differences are minimal.

The UK Arista release of BBIS has different cover art to Europe / America.

What are the differences on the MATL&F copy you have to the previous one?

I'm guessing your familiar with the black cover?

I beleive they are talking about the white cover.

There's three different MATLAF covers that I know of if you include the Aussie CD edition

AndyK 17 Dec 2008 18:03

Don't you hate it when that happens? I really must get my Obsessive Collectors Disorder under control :))

RadioMaster 17 Dec 2008 18:34

Ok, now I'm confused, so there are only 2 MATLAF CD's then. I have the Aussie one and the black one. And the ridiculous thing is I didn't buy the Aussie one in the shop here, I've never seen it in any record shops over here, I bought it off ebay or amazon, can't remember which now.

The Aussie one was a limited edition only sold by one chain of Aussie record stores which has now gone out of business, the name of which will come to me eventually lol

That would probably be Brash's, they went out of business a couple of times, the first time somebody else bought them out, then it happened again a couple of years later.
