Read'Em and Weep is probably the best ballad Meat has sung from that list but the best ballad on that list is Surf's Up, but I don't care for Meats version of the song.

I went for Surf's up. Great song which i think out all the song's listed it would be the one which could have made it onto a Bat album.

I do like Man of Steel and Did I Say That...they are not on the list...and I do think they are in another class than Surf and Read 'Em somehow...

I agree. CHSIB has some of my favourite Meat Loaf tunes (CHSIB, DIST, MOS, Testify) but also some of my least favourites ("Why isn't that enough", "You´re Right, I Was Wrong" , "Because Of You" and "Do it").

On the same page with all of it...

Personally don't see what all the fuss is about with Surf's Up not a song I think of much.

Surf's up is fantastic I think. I do prefer the original Jim Steinman/Rory Dodd version. The drums are far more powerful on there, I just prefer the production. Having said that, the background vocals on Meat's version are great too. I think it's a great tune, but just not Meat's best ballad imo.

Not A Dry Eye in the house...jaysus i voted for a Diane Warren song...if somebody loves me had have been there i might have but the other category is getting too big just to put other down

I think the whole "What is a ballad" thing is important here. You could even class AFL as a ballad I reckon.

BAAB and AFL in my opinion are ballads...but maybe AFL is classed as a duet...

I never thought I'd Lie For You was a ballad, more like soft rock like AFL

A man and A Woman seems like a Jamacian wannabee, Special Girl seemed soft-rockish, and Standing on the outside seemed anything but a ballad to me but its all matter of opinion. :D

Only 15 slots you have to choose and cut and other was the best there is. ;)

just my opinion, but i found it didn't connect with me on a personal level, not an album i could listen too over and over again... the same applies to the monster is loose... no soul, no passion, no drama... just decent songs

See i was the opposite, the first time i heard it i knew all the songs already and then i had it in my walkman for 18 months!!

Em, I think CHSIB is a female album...you listen to girls...and they LOVE it (I most definitely do - it is definitely one of my favorite although I probably will be crucified for this)...take boys...and they hate it...something in that CHSIB just talks to female soul I think. Honestly speaking...over the years I've been jumping between one album or another...one day it's BOOH...next it's BOOH II...next it's Dead Ringer...I just rarely (almost never) listen to only 2 albums...one is Midnight and the other...I am just not gonna say it...LOL...

Again, I think CHSIB is a female album somehow...ummm...no comment on the other one...

I was trying to tell you (just never had a chance) that your duke brought me bat 2...which is very weird since I didn't love the album before duke...weird, ain't it?

I agree with Andrew, CHSIB has a few decent songs I listen to once in a while, but I actually cant remember the last time to listen to the album from beginning to end.

I really love this album too,its permanently in the cd player in the bedroom,my fav song from it is "Love you out Loud"..
