"Album version"? :|

Ma.Ra 30 Jul 2008 01:13

LOL, they call that lousy thing "steelbox"? I thought it would be something more valuable, like the wonderful dvd steelboxes.

Monstro 30 Jul 2008 02:38

Is it in a steel box? I've got the greatest hits in a metal box.

RadioMaster 30 Jul 2008 09:39

whats the difference? lol
any pics?

gonna look out for it during my regular visit to the record store. Not too thrilled by the tracklist though.

mib 30 Jul 2008 10:07

I was just wondering; When Meat see's these ''Hits'' albums,if he get annoyed about it?

Well, with that track-list, it's not all "greatest" or all "hits", so it'll probably be plastic box spray-painted to look like steel

Dave

Kev 30 Jul 2008 10:57

It's another Sony best of, although, I've spoken to the head of UK and he told me that there isn't a Meat Loaf one coming out.

RED Muze (who update all the websites album content) have listed it so I had a look into it.

If it is coming out, it certainly won't be £18.49 so I'd maybe hold off until I've got a good price sorted should it happen :)

meatloaf-unofficial 31 Jul 2008 00:16

thankls for the update Kev.... :-)

Since his most greatest of hits came from Bat2 and afterwards, it seems kinda a bogus Greatest Hits CD to me. Funnily, Deadringer For Love which was his greatest hit pre-Bat2 isn't even on it...WTF? :wtf:

Pud

He mentioned that it did indeed annoy him, a few years back in the 'Cash For Questions' bit of Q Magazine, and was quick to point out that 'The Very Best Of' (and possibly Hits Out Of Hell - I don't remember) were the only compilations endorsed by him. I think the interview was around CHSIB.

Oh, and lets not mince words, both the packaging and the tracklist for this suck ass.

Hits Out Of Hell wasn't endorsed by Meat. Durinhg the Bad Attitude tour it was released by Epicto cash in on Meat's publisity at the time. Epic managed to get displays promotoing the record in the venues Meat was playing and I remember seeing Meat's manager at the time ripping these displays down.

Pudding 05 Aug 2008 11:06

Wasn't the Hits Out Of Hell album released the same time as the video? because I remember reading Meat made all the video's for that in a couple of days, which to me doesn't sound like Meat was objecting too much to it.

Pud

AndyK 05 Aug 2008 11:12

They were released around the same time, but there was nothing new on the video that hadn't been seen before. Modern Girl (presumably licensed from Arista) was on the album but not the video release.

Blackkat13 06 Aug 2008 04:45

I mean it's kinda of a great idea a steel box collection, but I mean if your going to release something like that why not have a bunch more songs. I mean why not make it a box collection, and have demo's, live versions, & non-released songs.

Pudding 06 Aug 2008 05:53

Totally agree. Meat could do a Steel Box thingy with all the songs he's done and Steinman could do a Pandora's Box.

Pud

RadioMaster 06 Aug 2008 08:58

or a wooden box

Steel box or none, it is pretty bizarre that after all these years we've yet to have a rarities compilation.

chansadres 06 Aug 2008 12:04

Move a long people, nothing to see.
Just another Greatest hits which don't deserves our money.

( ;) )

Kev 06 Aug 2008 16:56

It's just a cheap knock out by sony so you're just going to get the normal stuff from the albums.

It's nothing to do with Meat what is and isn't released, they own the recording and that why they'll keep producing collections and best of's. I'm not even sure if Meat would get anything for them either.

RadioMaster 06 Aug 2008 17:05

whys it called steel box collection then?
indicates that its something special (at least the packaging) to me....:?

Kev 06 Aug 2008 17:46

lol!

No, it is in a Steel Box

RadioMaster 06 Aug 2008 17:50

any pictures? might be worth buying for the packaging

Wario 06 Aug 2008 17:55

Just realized, its a clone of "simply the best" :

https://pro-ssl23.de/oldiesfm.de/sho...fa19b36a5ee845

 - Sony's real lousy

Blackkat13 06 Aug 2008 19:56

As far as hits cd's I only have Hit's out of Hell (my sister's she forget to pickup) & I own The very best of..the 2 disc hits collection. I don't go all hog wild over greatest hits cd's, only die hard fans will buy every cd from the artist.

Sarge 06 Aug 2008 20:42

They released a CD with the same tracklist under the title Hit Collection last year. It contained a shortened version of Bat out of Hell (about 5 minutes long). :tired:

Me neither. I have all the songs on one CD or another and I don't buy just for packaging.

Pud

RadioMaster 06 Aug 2008 23:15

depends on the kind of packaging

Im honest here, if this would be some super dooper deluxe style real metal box I might buy it.
But I rather doubt that...

That Edit SUCKS. My grandma could pull a better edit. I mean it's an obvious cut and fade in that makes you wonder if whoever editing is deaf.

I placed my order for the Steel Box collection on Amazon. Yes I ORDERED IT.

I collect all these unofficial best ofs cause there's bound to be real hilarious edits.......
