Sapphire Lady 08 Apr 2008 15:18

I was surprised to see him doing that but at the end of the day he's chosen to do so for whatever reason.

I don't like to hear the lyrics of a classic song changed like that (our local rock radio station does it and it's awful) but the ad is quite funny.

As for Ross' comment that he kept it quiet from his fans, this again begs the question of what .net members get for our $40 - not up to date news and ticket presales, that's for sure.

I agree with you hon, but as Oscar Wilde says "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about. "

If nothing else, Meat will be talked about.

On a sidenote, Tiffany doesn't look too bad, considering it's been 20 years since she's last been in the spotlight, bar the playboy rumours

Likewise, not entirely sure what to think about Meat doing advertising like this, although as alittle snippet to watch it's entertaining and good to hear him sounding so well!

As for Tiffany ... they weren't rumours ;-)

whos tiffany?

allrevvedup 08 Apr 2008 17:26

She was Britney 15 years before Britney, had a big one hit wonder (with promotional tour across various Malls in America to go along with it) with "I think we're alone now"

So she really did Playboy?!

AndyK 08 Apr 2008 17:28

She also had a "come back" album (which wasn't half bad) released around 2000 (ish) coincidently this was around the time she appeared in Playboy as well (ahem, so I'm told ;-) ). And appeared in "Re-Born In The USA" on BBC TV a few years ago, where aged 80's pop stars tried to kick start their careers.

Deb 08 Apr 2008 18:11

The Flying Mouse 08 Apr 2008 19:35

 I understand where people are coming from when they say it makes them sad to see Meat do an advert, but the end of the day it's a harmless parody.

Not too much up on tech stuff  , but it sounds like a go phone is something that would interest youngsters.
By placing himself by the product, he also gets a mew generation to take an intewrest in a way they might not have before.

BTW, Quote from Wikipedia about Tiffany.......

"Shortly after her 18th birthday in 1989, Tiffany bought a mansion that used to belong to action movie star Chuck Norris."

Is there NOWHERE that Chuck Norris doesn't appear? :wtf:

Battybarb 08 Apr 2008 19:46

Chuck Norris seems to be everywhere...lol

The Flying Mouse 08 Apr 2008 19:50

 And even weirder, Tiffany is moonlighting these days as Catherine Tate

Sapphire Lady 08 Apr 2008 21:03

Having watched the commercial several times now, I think it does grow on you. Seeing it for the first time is a bit of a shock but after a few more viewings I can appreciate the humour of it more. I wonder if that's why Meat did it - because it appealed to his sense of humour. (He surely can't need the money).

RadioMaster 08 Apr 2008 21:12

wonder how much money he got for this

RadioMaster 08 Apr 2008 21:17

Nick 08 Apr 2008 23:42

This is why this commercial is great.

I was at my friend's house when this was played. My friends dad not knowing that I was a Meat Fan told us about how he loved the original song, and how he danced with his soon to be wife will listening to it in high school. he told us all theese stories about how he would listen to Meat while driving his car at extreem speeds. In other words, for people in america, who don't follow meat as much, this put him in the spotlight again. The dad eventually realized that he didn't have a bat out of hell record on cd, so he intends to buy one.

The GO PHONE has been around Down here for a while. they used to have really annoying commercials.

This commercial sparked a bit of joy into the people I talked to. Sure I bet he was paid a bit for it, but I'm not sure that it was a desperate thing.

Nick!:D:D:D

RadioMaster 08 Apr 2008 23:49

good to hear that

SW31 09 Apr 2008 01:01

what a good way to say meat is back working - very funny though having tiffeny could she replace aspen on the tour or is the possibility of a duet in order

AndrewG 09 Apr 2008 01:19

I think if Tiffany had been doing those make out scenes with Meat in 2006/2007 during Paradise he probably wouldn't have gotten so frustrated during the tour as the press wouldn't have cared much, plus she could have done "I think we are alone now" as support. Would have been fine imo. :-)

WhenItComes2LovingU 09 Apr 2008 05:16

Wow...his voice actually doesn't sound that bad. And he sings in the original '78 key without straining. It doesn't sound like they did much studio clean-up on his voice, so if this is him post-cyst, consider it an improvement.

I agree! Its just what he needed - a bit of sillyness after all that happened last year

lorenzoduke 09 Apr 2008 17:25

Meats not just a singer, he's an actor as we all know. For some reason it doesn't bother me him doing this commercial so much.

At least its funny and actually Meat Loaf-related rather than just him standing there hawking some product.

Yes, I have that issue too. :p

24K 10 Apr 2008 01:57

I think the advert is great, it gets Meat exposure, its a funny and entertaining ad imo.
Money for old rope, there is nowt wrong with that. Especially when it gets you into several million homes at the sametime. As for not announcing it on net, i don't have a problem with that.

djfierce 10 Apr 2008 11:59

i'd rather tickets were announced on .net!!! Think they're a little more important ;)

allrevvedup 10 Apr 2008 13:14

I'd rather the thank yous for his birthday were taken down from .net

I got a message from them saying you have less then 30 days until your membership expires, please renew now...yeah ok, it mentioned pre sales as one of the reasons for signing up:D

Anyway back to the commercial (or ad for us on this side of the planet)

It's definitely not growing on me, but if it helps people to realise that he's not just "the big sweaty guy" and actually has cd's worth buying then it might generate some new sales.

However after all this promotion in america for the documentary, would it not be sensible for him to tour parts of America?

I know its not .net but it was mentioned in this interview that was posted a while back

http://www.cinematical.com/2008/03/1...ch-of-paradis/

Your fan site says that you're gearing up for some shows in the UK this year. What else is on your docket?

Oh, I'm shooting an AT&T commercial. I've been hosting, on Direct TV, this game show, and we're doing another 15 episodes of that. I'm going to shoot a film down in Florida in May, and they're changing the title, so it doesn't do any good to tell you the title.

I guess theres simply not enough people there to fill the arenas. I personally think its good hes only touring europe, instead of putting all his power into a bunch of shows that in the end nobody really cares for. (not speaking of the US fans of course)

thats that sorted....now, where do we get those nude pics? :retard:

Im sorry to hear that, and I wanst accusing any american fans in any way.
My point simply was that the number of ML fans over there isnt big enough to fill arenas, so from the economical point of view, it would make make much more sense to rather do one or two more shows in europe/the uk.

Just a guess here, but I bet you dont really have a lot of other ML fans in your area, do you?

Actually, we have quite a few for the small (10,000ish) town I live in. And our neighboring cities (the people I've talked to) would do anything to see him (but they wont do that hahahahaha i crack myself up :p jk)

But, idk, he may never come around here again, but it would be nice if I could see my idol at least once you know?

RadioMaster 10 Apr 2008 19:57

Im surprised, didnt expect that.

But if you look at the past tour schedules, then you see that most of the 'word tours' were only including the us east cost, uk, germany, netherlands, australia and new zealand, so a lot of other areas have been missed out as well.

I do hope for you that you at least once get the oportunity to see him in concert!

I don't want to start an argument ... but Meat still sells out the concerts here in the USA, and we care about him and the shows as much as you do.
Personally, I've never had any desire to see him in a big arena in Europe and prefer the small intimate theaters like Atlantic City or the Beacon theater in NYC.

I'm sure he's just doing the tour in Europe now to make up the shows that he had to cancel last November, and hopefully we'll have the chance to see him again in the USA once the new CD is released ;) We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

To get this back on topic .. I think the new ad is hysterical and I still laugh everytime I watch it :))
