Rhydian To Work With Steinman
Found here:
X Factor's Rhydian Roberts offered lead in musical EXCLUSIVE By Sean Hamilton Showbiz Editor 10/02/2008 X Factor runner-up Rhydian Roberts has been offered the lead in a musical based on Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell. Welshman Rhydian, 24, has been approached by composer Jim Steinman - the writer of the 1977 album - to front an epic show based on the songs. Steinman, 60, reckons Bat Of Hell: The Musical will be one of the most ambitious live rock events ever staged. He said: "It's going to be spectacular. We're gonna have a giant jukebox... and motorcycle riders on high wires and all kinds of stuff going on." A source said: "Jim got in touch with Rhyd after seeing him perform I Would Do Anything For Love. He believes Rhydian has the quirkiness and presence to pull it off." The composer has hired cartoonist Gerald Scarfe - famous for his work on Pink Floyd's The Wall - to design the set for the show later this year. |
wow - sounds promising :-)
Will have to see thye show when it premieres! Ross |
Oh, how fantastic. Best news I've heard on this site in a long time!
|
sounds awful to me :( i was afraid this would happen as soon as rhydian and steinman were mentioned in the same sentence
|
Might just as well be a rumor, just like Steinman producing/writing for his album.
|
Looks like Rhydian is going to be very busy then seeing as he's also supposedly been offered a part in Les Miserables:
http://www.shropshirestar.com/2008/0...r-in-west-end/ and Phantom 2: http://www.whatsonstage.com/index.ph...E8821199292457 or are these just rumours too? |
much likely rumours, as apparently ALW never heard him sing lol
|
OMFG, so awful news, most because his AFL was soo bad.....
I am upset that Steinman seems to be nuts.... |
Y do so many people not like the performance of afl?? it wasny that bad was it?
|
it wasnt out of tune, it was empty of any emotion
|
ye but that was his very first performance live wasnt it? cant put him down for that??
|
nope, he improved alot throughout the show by all accounts. I've said everything over on the other rhydian and steinman thread so i won't bore everyone with repeatin myself ;) no sarcasm intended btw :)
|
ok lol. its just people say it wasnt good perfomance and stuff. u gotta remember they have to try and make it there own song and not try and be like the artist it was originally for!!!
|
i agree with that, i actually really like some of his later performances but if the rumours of steinmans involvement with his career is true then i am more than a little nervous

I agree and considering that everything that Jim writes is so full of emotion that it sometimes overflows someone who has a really good voice but a total absence of emotion will never be able to being Jim's songs to life. I did see a few of Rhydian's songs and although his voice remained strong and his act became more polished and refined I didnt see anywhere near the emotion that Jim's songe demand |

I have a question and forgive my ignorance...don't you have have "graduates" of X Factor in musicals?
We have at least 2 at the moment on Broadway doing rather well? Never mind Jennifer Hudson and her Oscar/Golden Globe... |

Oh well |

I'm not a fan of either one but hey both are still around. They are trying to make the girl, who won it last year, into the new whitney houston minus all the drug taking and marrying Bobby Brown and also, i presume, not having her star in a dodgy film with Kevin Costner. |

I like some, don't like some...but I watch the show religiously...to discard it as just low talent competition is not really becoming to music lover...of course, I have no idea how X-Factor goes, etc... I was a big fan of Jennifer Hudson on the show and was really upset when she was voted out...turns out it was for the best. |
Didn't we have another lady, think her name began with a B, go on to stage in the west end and to the best of my knowledge she's still doing it...think so

Here's a Rhydian interview on the Manchester Evening News website. The X Factor tour is here for two nights. http://www.manchestereveningnews.co....r_wins?rss=yes
|
"His people have already spoken to Jim "Meat Loaf" Steinman's people about penning original material, a duet has been booked with Mariah Carey and there is talk of options to star on stage in either Phantom Of The Opera or Bat Out Of Hell, the musical."
nothing really new there... |
