Meat Loaf London Event Cancelled

Regrettably the Meat Loaf Event at the Mayfair Hotel on Tuesday, 9th October has been cancelled due to reasons beyond the control of the organisers.

Marlene from Select has personally tried to contact everyone who had booked to attend the occasion and she has now asked me to post this message here.

Diane

RadioMaster 05 Oct 2007 18:53

makes you wonder who screwed up...

howlerformeatloaf 05 Oct 2007 18:56

Thanks for the reply just wanted to make sure he is okay. We would not want anything happening to him. Still concerts to look forward to. :-)

Feleena 05 Oct 2007 19:40

Thanks for posting this Diane, Luckily Marlene phoned me to let me know this afternoon.
She was very sorry.

Oh well at least there is a concert to look forward to now.

Feleena x

AndyK 05 Oct 2007 20:48

Bad news.

Still plenty to look forward to though we've got the concerts and the DVD release looming!

The Flying Mouse 05 Oct 2007 21:07

 Alternative?

24K 05 Oct 2007 22:51

Well i am well gutted! I have paid for train tix, that are none refundable.

But what gets me is, someone out there obviously couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery!

I know Meat is not at fault, i am not having a go at him, but what the hell!

I got an email from Marlene saying she'll take up any request for out of pocket expenses if that helps

24K 05 Oct 2007 23:12

Thanks monstro,i appreciate your reply.

I have not received an email yet,it was just a message on me answerphone.

Monstro 05 Oct 2007 23:15

she emailed as my mobile was turned off. I'd ask if I was you, don't ask don't get and all that jazz.

allrevvedup 05 Oct 2007 23:21

Maybe the fact that, far as i can see, there was no mention of this on .net should've been a tip off...then again maybe not as i seem to find out more announcements here then on the official site.

I feel sorry for all those who had made plans to go, could someone scheduling an event nine days before the European Tour starts just be asking for trouble in the first place?

Whatever happened someone messed up

RadioMaster 05 Oct 2007 23:26

I think the least the people who screwed up could do, was actually giving the people who made plans a proper reason or explanation why the thing was cancelled, but what do they say? "reasons beyond the control of the organisers"

MeatGrl1 05 Oct 2007 23:29

Will our £75 be refunded?

I hope so:?

greg 05 Oct 2007 23:35

i feel so sorry for the people that have booked trains for this event , they should have had meat sign up to it , before they sold the tickets , not saying , they never did , but if you think to yourself this event came out , of the blew it makes you think :wall:

allrevvedup 05 Oct 2007 23:37

which leads us to believe it could be anything...like the room for the Mayfair was double booked, Meat Loaf already had another commitment, they didn't sell enough tickets or they didn't want to screen it unless RJ was there:D

Someone knew enough about it to try and sell tickets on Ebay.

There's something about any promotion to do with Meat Loaf, over the last few years, that always seems to take a wrong turn.

greg 05 Oct 2007 23:41

ha my thoughts all reved up , but people and true fans that have took time of work and , paid out for trains , tickets etc etc , leaves a bad taste in you mouth , ifeel for each and everyone of you , , we will all make the ibils ONE HELL OF A NIGHT :metal:

It would appear so.

allrevvedup 05 Oct 2007 23:43

or keel over with collapsed livers trying...actually that does sound like a good way to go...

I like that thought! they cancelled it because I couldnt attend! lol

but on a serious note:
I'd like to suggest that somehow the article on the frontpage was changed/took off there, as anyone visiting mlukfc.com sees the announcement of the screening as first info.

sexyeyes_jo 06 Oct 2007 01:10

if anyone is interested Neil is trying to organise a piss up for tuesday night to drown our sorrows he has put it on the Events as he is still coming to London

Pudding 06 Oct 2007 04:10

I feel really bad for all those who paid their £75 to go :lmao:

Pud

I feel compelled to reply to this just to set the record straight.

Select, who were organising the Meat Loaf evening at the Mayfair Hotel, are a highly respected and reputable company who specialise in luxury event packages. I checked their website and spoke with them before details were posted on MLUKFC. The package offered to our Fan Club members was genuine and offered in good faith. I can assure you that the people at Select, who have been a pleasure to deal with, are as disappointed and upset that the event has had to be cancelled as those of us, (myself included), who had made arrangements to go.

To suggest that the offer was in any way other than genuine is demeaning to them and MLUKFC as information of this nature is always validated before being posted here.

Diane

Sapphire Lady 06 Oct 2007 16:42

Very disappointing for everyone involved. I'm sure Meat will be disappointed too.

snowy 06 Oct 2007 19:21

Is there any indication from Select that his event might be rescheduled????

Diane 06 Oct 2007 19:43

Nothing has been mentioned.

Diane

SueW 07 Oct 2007 00:23

What a shame, especially as Meat Loaf is in England anyway at the moment as they're playing a private gig in Stoke on Trent tonight, (although the band at least fly home tomorrow.)

It's a lovely gesture by Select to reimburse fans' expenses though.

Fair enough.

I'm sure they were genuine, but I'm still going to suggest that there is a chance that someone on the Meat Loaf side of things was not made aware of it otherwise i think it would've been something Meat and his management would've wanted to promote on the official site since they've tried to hype up this release for a while.

I'm not demeaning anyone, least of all this place since I stick up for it often enough.

Like i said in previous messages I feel sorry for anyone who paid for tickets and organised travel for it

mikeloaf 07 Oct 2007 03:10

So I was right to just look forward to enjoying it on my sofa on the 16th at home!

I wouldn't have thought it would be rescheduled as there isn't much time in which to do it...if it is rescheduled it's going to be extremely last minute

Very disappointed it's been cancelled but praise where it's due to Select who, I think, have been great

AndyK 22 Nov 2007 15:49

Credit to Select and Universal for keeping their word.

Received a package today containing copies of the 3 Bats Ltd Edition DVD and Bat 3 CD as compensation for this cancelled event.

Deb 22 Nov 2007 17:43

Very cool  Did you get one per person ?

AndyK 22 Nov 2007 18:09

Yeah, got two of everything ... even down to the letter of apology from Universal.

LucyK! 22 Nov 2007 19:30

We're gonna be getting used to all this free Meat Loaf stuff arriving in the post!

RadioMaster 24 Nov 2007 09:58

Not sure anyone's excited so much as pleasantly surprised that the company stuck to their word and send what they said they would
