10th & Wolf

It's mob thing with James Marsden (from X Men) and Brian Dennehey, with a cameo from Val Kilmer

It's on dvd and well worth a look.

RadioMaster 10 Jul 2007 21:35

Apollo 13 - My husband tells me he remembers watching this with me years ago - none of it is familiar... too much wine, maybe?

RadioMaster 12 Jul 2007 22:25

Wicked Little Things, not what you may think it was a horror.

I saw it last night, it's a lot darker than the others, but then again, I think they've all been progressively darker... There are a few bits of plot they've missed out, and if what I've heard about Book 7 is true, that may cause them a few problems when it comes to making the film..

I'm a big fan of the books too, and spent a fair amount of time thinking, 'that's not the same as the book,' or 'they've missed that bit out'... To be fair, if they tried to fit all of the book into the film, it'd be about five hours long, and the main parts were right.

Imelda Staughton as Professor Umbridge was brilliant, right down to the 'Hem, hem..'

RadioMaster 14 Jul 2007 10:10

that's the thing I dont like about the Harry Potter movies: They just try to copy the book onto the screen as good as possible, and leave a few scenes out to save time.
That just doesnt work for me. Half way through the movie I get this "I've already seen this" feeling and get bored.

IMO a movie to a book must have it's own ideas, something different, something special.

I always mention Jurassic Park (the first one) as example:
The Crichton book is great, and Spielberg's movie also, but only because they changed so much. Different scenes, different story, partially different characters and a completely different ending.

We just came back from cinema... Harry Potter 5 of course.
I think it was brilliant!!!!
The best they could have done from a book that has something near to 700 pages!
The actors were great, all of them!!
And Imelda Staughton did the best job, awesome!
Also loved the girl who played Luna Lovegood
Great, great movie! Will see it again on tuesday :D
(the only personal deficit: too little Alan Rickman scenes )

Cpl Mickey 15 Jul 2007 10:30

I went to the preview on Tuesday night at the cinema where my son and dughter work and watched Harry Potter. I thought it was pretty good. I agree Imelda Staughton was brilliant

There was a behind the scenes documentary on UK tv last week, and they spoke with her, and about her, and she's exactly the same in real life!!

Going slightly off topic, but if a film is based on a book if it goes off plot what is the point of it being about the book it might as well be a film inspired by the book but not at all the book. So instead of Harry Potter it'd be Barry Trotter, anyone read the books?

RadioMaster 15 Jul 2007 21:57

it's just neccessary to keep the main plot: nerdy boy becomes wizard, etc.
But many things from books you CAN transfer onto the screen, the way its done with the HP movies, but they dont work they way they do in the books.

Maybe I'm totally wrong with this one though, just have seen 1-3 yet and shouldnt judge on something I dont know.

RadioMaster 15 Jul 2007 22:45

the quest
nice adventure movie, with some VERY bad logical gaps in it.

 Really, is she?
Well that explains why she is so damn good lol ! Or is it only me who enjoyed her acting in HP5?
