I think we should all get behind this dvd and support meat instead of nitpicking at small things in my opinion. I've seen some of the clips and I think it looks amazing. Yeah it's a bit darker but maybe that's how meat wants it and I think we should respect that. We should feel lucky to get a dvd from that tour given that we know meat had a few issues with his vocal chords and we should praise him for this. Meat needs to know majority of fans here support him and are EXTREMELY grateful for all his efforts.

I agree. That is sounding awesome.

To me it doesn't look dark at all, not particularly for a concert film anyway I think. Concert films always have this object - very bright/colourful, background - black/you can't see it attitude. It does have a very high contrast ratio I think which is what I expect from good quality cameras. Moreover if you have a LED/LCD tv it will display the DVD extremely bright anyway, but keep the background/dark bits as black as that is the nature of the technology. If you have a plasma it will indeed be darker and it won't be brightened up.

I still stand by my earlier statement that it is too dark as well, especially after seeing the EPK. So many points where you can't see what's going on.

Just afraid that the critics are going to rip this thing to shreds and hurt his overall image

I don't agree Mark. It's not like the echo effect is on every word. It's really a minor detail. You can't slam a whole show for a small number of effects that aren't even on every vocal.

melon 31 Aug 2012 17:33

I agree with Rob,to me it sounds realistic re the echo

Seems pretty omnipresent to me considering that I have heard it in ever snippet that we have heard thus far. Doesn't appear to be a small amount to me.

I also agree with what some others have said, that all the affects and "adjustments" make it seem not live.

And quite frankly it is not just the echo that bothers Me, it is the fact that in my opinion the vocals do not sound good at all. Less strained than 3Bats, but not really any better

Some on here like what they have seen/heard thus far - some on here don't like what they have seen/heard thus far - all points of view are valid. I can hop on my mod box for a moment and say if we focus conversation on our own opinions and interjections/comments about opinions rather than stating things as fact and/or grandstanding the conversation in attempts to "rally the troops" toward a cause. I have taken a step back and watched threads go down in a clusterbomb time after time for the same reason - same things being said over and over until it causes someone to snap.

Long ago, a majority of conversation regarding Meat Loaf happened in another venue online and we had just a few simple guideline there that I believe has been forgotten here - "attack the words, not the person" and "don't throw sand on other people's keyboards." Feel free to speak up and join the conversation - no one likes talking to themselves; however, take a moment to read your post before clicking the "submit reply" button to think if what you are saying is adding anything new to the conversation or are you basically re-posting something you said earlier to continue the argument. Effective use of the "like" and "dislike" buttons could also help to quell the flames around here a bit.

I would hate to live in a world where there were not polarizing viewpoints in the Meat Loaf world - it would be a very boring place. However, I am seeing this thread going down the same path many others have and am asking us all (myself included) to take a breath and read the words that R has placed above every page in this forum "As a forum dedicated to an artist who, along with various band members, contributes to this forum, we encourage honest opinion, debate, and constructive criticism. We ask that this should be done in a respectful manner which should also be afforded to each and every forum member" before posting.

It is good to be passionate, but to pound your beliefs over and over again can get tiresome, people to snap, and threads to be closed. I know I am excited for this upcoming release and hope to be able to discuss it with y'all and am anxious to read what you guys and gals think about this new product!

Okay...back on topic....

The clips of audio have been put on Amazon/iTunes and the EPK and full performance of Bat Out Of Hell have been put up on YouTube and I think everything looks and sounds fantastic from what I can see.

I would like to comment on the fog effect during Peace On Earth. I got a very stripped down version of the tour show at my venue. We didn't have any special effects at all. Therefore, I thought the fog effect and LED curtain was quite spectacular. Just seeing the clips of the spectacle of the show makes me eager to see a full-on Meat Loaf tour-de-force like what was presented in Sydney and not the no set/minimal lights shows my part of the country has gotten the past few tours.

I had only heard the audio through regular speakers and noticed very little echo. Last night I put on some good quality earphones and cranked it up and I had to admit then that it was really noticeable. Not enough to ruin anything- at least in one song - but there is hopefully not 2 hours of it. Meat's vocals sound otherwise quite good, the band is amazing, and when well lighted it looks spectacular. Hopefully as someone said viewing it on a big screen LCD will help. I still think it will be good and still look forward to it, for $11 just hearing that great band is a treat. I never got to see them with Ginny but I feel like she added a lot to the songs and freshened them up.

I finally found the time to watch the EPK and I as far as I can tell the audio sounds better than on the BOOH clip. Either my ears are going or that BOOH isn't the finished article. :bleh:

But I think that's just a computer/youtube thing, it'll be fine on DVD

Around the 7.00 mark there's an instrumental from Anything For Love that usually doesn't get done live. Is this part of the show, or just an extra piece that was done for promo purposes?

I think it is a perfect blend of Meat and Patti's voices. There are many instrumentals, so Patti deserves the opportunity to be featured too for her vocals.

The previews sound great. I prefer the hard rock arrangements of the songs on the MMW tour. With the violin, it has a classical sound that I don't care for in Meat's music.

Smithie 04 Sep 2012 20:16

SITS- WOW!!!

ShelbyLee 04 Sep 2012 21:26

The violinist said she added many of her parts in the studio. I guess I agree with those who would prefer more of a "live" experience. Although I think Meat sounds great, Patti sounds great, and the band is great. I will have to listen to it more.

ShelbyLee 04 Sep 2012 21:28

I enjoyed the interviews in the trailer. Is that part of the documentary?
I can't wait to hear all of Stand in the Storm. My fave so far!

White of High 05 Sep 2012 00:01

I think I am one of the most censorious on the forum and almost everybody knows my opinion about Meat's voice in the last 10 years.

I hated the trailer, the band sounded good but Meat's voice was horrible. I listened Bat a few minutes ago. And... that was far the best performance (show and voice) I saw in the last 10 years from him. I don't know how he sounded live because his voice is masked but it was very okay. Congratulation for the studio works. It's a DVD so they can't sell it with bad voice. Echo is not good, various times you can here it's remastered in studio, but I wish Meat's voice was as good as in this 11 minutes was...

I'm not convinced Meat still can sing but that was good! In Hungary we say: "one swallow doesn't make summer"...
