No, I am watching Russian soap operas...which are not really Russian...one is a translation of German one, and the other some South American...while German based one is more realistic...the other one is so OTT that it's funny...and Russian commercials are HYSTERICAL...worth watching just for that!

RadioMaster 05 Sep 2008 14:39

what's the German one? (name, characters, plot)

I might regret that I asked this.....

I am translating from Russian - so really don't know the original name...in Russian it's called something like Fire of Love...

It's about 2 young people in love and all the problems that they are facing. He is rich, another girl is pregnant by him, he marries the other girl cause she is pregnant, the main girl goes to jail for supposedly killing her father who actually was killed by her stepsister, then the wife of the main hero gets hit by a car (same stepsister) and loses the baby while once again main girl is set up to take a fall for it...

I am sorry I am watching this...LOL...

All soaps seem to be the same - convoluted plots that forever twist...and that is what makes them so fascinating; a puzzle of real life, supposedly. Seeing this makes me feel less guilty to being a Y&R and B&B fan!

Yes, yes it is, but at least it's a fairly old car (6 and a half years), it's only a peugeot 106 so nothing really fancy or expensive, it'd already been scratched on the bonnet by someone with something like a key, and down the side (albeit mostly polished out now) by some idiot with a green car who drove down the side of it on a car park...so these fresh scratches don't bother me so much as they would if it were new.

what I am more worried about though, is if someone does something to the vehicle that will cost me money - such as slashing my tyres or similar - since the damage to mine, I've now heard of a couple of other people who had their tyre's slashed on that street...and my mum noticed 3 other vehicles parked on the same street the other day, all of which had scratches on them similar to mine. anyway, since it happened twice, i reported it to the police. I've also put in for a visible presence with tameside's patroller service (who will now check on that street for a month) - who have got the police (well, PCSOs) involved as well...so hopefully, not only will this make our vehicles a little safer, but they might also catch the idiot that did the damage!

In my humble opinion (because I operate both Vista and XP at home, XP and 2000 at work, and also have PCs with Windows 98 and 95 tucked away somewhere)...Vista's main problem is that it doesn't seem very stable. Granted it doesn't crash as often as 98 did but it reminds me a lot of 98. Additionally it has that stupid hidden "computer administrator" account (as opposed to the "Administrator" account) which makes a lot of installations a tricky and (for me) nerve wracking experience! I think it took people a while to warm to XP because it was such a change from 2000. Once I got used to it, I didn't mind it at all...and in fact, having been pretty used to 98, I don't mind Vista all that much MOST of the time. I do agree there are problems with Vista, but I also think a lot of people's mistrust of it, is that it is different.

That's really brill...I have a lot of my family I've never met or not seen for 20 years or more, and although I can imagine it would be incredibly nerve wracking, I would dearly love to be able to meet up with them...good luck, I hope it goes well! :-)

Difficult customer huh? Anyway, you misunderstood the mantra. the idea is to make the customer THINK you believe they are right (most customers believe they themselves are right anyway!!)
Anyway, kinda reminds me of something...my grandfather (who died on Christmas Eve 1990) used to collect the funny cartoon / comic strips / jokes out of newspapers. When he had a heart attack and we had to bring my Granny to the UK (they lived on the Isle of Man) we found the box of newspaper clippings, and whilst he was in hospital, I was going to put them into a scrapbook for him, to keep him amused (I was 9 at the time, he'd've appreciated it from a 9 year old, ok) but sadly he passed away before it was completed. I kept the newspaper clippings for a long time though, and had some of the ones that amused me the most on my wall. One of those was (blimey this is becoming a very long story!) a picture of a guy on stepladders, obviously in a shop, painting a very large sign which read "The customer is already right"...and behind him was an elderly lady...and the caption said "There are two t's in Right, young man". Ah well...amused me!

Hey Helen, Yeah it's rather quiet on this site at the moment.
Hope ya feeling a bit more cheered up later today. X Factor is on in a bit, so that's always a good laugh.
Not sure about FB if people remained tagged. I reckon they do. People can def see pictures as long as they are tagged I believe, but it may also depend on the album settings of the photos. You may want to set that to "everyone" instead of "just friends" in this case.

Hope ya not deleting ME from your friends list!!!

It depends who you're letting to see your pictures. It says...only friends, friends of the friends, everybody, etc...and yes, they will remain tagged...

 You fell for that one huh?

Why is it that chicken is the scapegoat of the culinary world? :wtf:

Any food that was never intended to be food in the first place seems to be given credibility by the eater with the explanation "it tastes like chicken".

I've used that line myself talking about Duck (though I really do believe duck tastes like chicken, only nicer).

In the first book in the Red Dwarf series, the character Rimmer is shown to hold the opinion that DODO tastes like chicken, only much more expensive

Meat Loaf once famously wrote "smells like fried chicken" on one of the album pressings.

What the feck has the poor chicken done to deserve the constant comparison to some of the more unorthodox dining habits of man?

And what part of a chicken are things supposed to taste like?
Personally, I won't touch a chicken leg, but love a good bit of breast (que the titties and beer song) as they are very different.
So are all these things supposed to taste like leg, breast, or wing?
Perhaps it is this bountiful variety on one bird that lends the taste of it's meat to so many pretenders.

And what if a person had never had chicken before?
Someone gives them rattlesnake duck dodo in snail sauce and tells them "it tastes just like chicken".
That person is going to think "if this is what chicken tastes like, screw it".
The poor innocent chicken has his reputation sullied even further.

I think the chicken has been given a pretty raw deal  .

My neighbours over the past 24 hours have so far tortured me with the 15 year old son's awful awful taste in dance 'music', the dog howling like a banshee, the mother yelling so loud no doubt you could all hear her? and now the 'baby' (he's almost 2) is demonstrating a lung capacity with potential to be bigger than the mother's. What I don't get is why it's still screaming the place down and no one has done anything about it :-(

I am wondering if this is all punishment for something I did wrong in a previous life...!

don't think we're gonna get any sunshine now :-( sometimes feels like ever! but it's my birthday next weekend and it always always* rains on and around my birthday, and usually the weekends either side of it.
