what dont you get "religion is a big sack of knackers" "they're too stupid to figure it out for themselves" were written as statement.
Instead of offering the opinion I dont believe in any religion, and i hate people trying to get me to believe, which by the way i would totally agree with.

AndyK 06 Dec 2006 00:18

Just to head this one off before it descends into another row, and I've seen enough of those to last me to Christmas (next year). I'm never really sure wheer I stand on this issue, somedays I beleive, some not, but one thing I'll always remember is a comment once made by Prince Charles, when questioned as to why he'd chosen to go fishing on a SUnday morning rather than go to church at Balmoral ... I can pray while I'm fishing but I can't fish while I'm praying ... sort of sums up my thoughts on the organised religion thing anyway.

Ok, I'm lost, I agree with you but I don't know why so I give up.

Believe in yourself and your belief in others that both you an others can make a difference, you don't need a book to tell you what to do because it should come from the heart. We can all make a difference and we can all help others more unfortunate than ourselves.

Gospel according to whiskey and coke lol

djfierce 06 Dec 2006 00:35

ok my final word on this so say what you want afterwards
SOME people believe there is a helping hand in there somewhere, i don't and you know why i don't if you care enough to remember what you know about me before calling me out.
It is a persons own private belief as to who has ultimate control over your life,i will never dump on anyone for what they believe,
Different people have different ideas as to what causes the things that happen, none of us will ever truly know.

Heathen! Blasphemer! The only thing you should put in a Whisky, is another Whisky to keep the first one company ;-)

Monstro 06 Dec 2006 00:39

It's blended, Malts and Irish are given the respect they deserve and treated accordingly lol

AndyK 06 Dec 2006 00:41

Well ok if it's cooking whisky then it's slightly forgiveable, presuming you pass the bottle here

Monstro 06 Dec 2006 00:52

Erm; isn't that just a little bordering on what (I believe) organised religion does? That is, telling Pud (or anyone) what he should or should not say?

Statement or opinion are pretty much the same as I read it in this particular context ~ semantics really.

For the record, I don't believe in organised religion either. Self-responsibility is way too underrated these days.

Did I just agree with Pud? And djfierce? Please pass that bottle, Andy and Monstro. :?

I gave an opinion. I never said it was fact nor did I say people had to agree with me. And I know more spiteful people who follow religion than those that don't.

Pud

RadioMaster 06 Dec 2006 14:48

Like I posted before, Pud, you´re mixing religion and church up, which is a HUGE difference.
Here´s a statement someone told me some years ago and that will be MY last word on that.

If there´s a God and a judgement day and you dont believe, then you´ll go to hell forever till the end of eternity.
But if there´s no God, and you believe, and you´ll die and nothing happens, you believed in a nice little idea through your whole life, that might be wrong, but it wont hurt you, will it?

So, what´s wrong in believing?

Lord Kagan 06 Dec 2006 14:53

We have nothing to lose in believing there is no god, but if were right you have everything to lose if there is no god. And at the same time IF there is a god isnt he supposed to be forgiving and accept us into the kingdom of heaven, Jesus said to enter the kingdom you must have the mind of a child, Nothing more.

Paul191 06 Dec 2006 23:07

Now, how did I guess the thread would turn into one big debate about religion? Hmmm.;)

Because its on of the most entriguing (Sp?) aspects of our cultural diffrences (Or simliarities). Its amazing how much we rely on religion. If you know of Nietszche and his idea of the Will to Truth you'll unsdertand why "god is our most enduring lie" its a lie for survival. Amazing how although a lie it still allows for progression and is needed for our survival. Infact I am writing an essay on this type of thing which I have come up with my own theory for if anyone is intrested in readin it when its completed. I am one third complete.

I don't follow you...if you knew it will turn into something more serious...how did you start it as a joke?

Just curious...

Time of curiousness is now over......... I will enlighten you:-

'Something More Serious' isn't exactly a bad thing is it? Since when has seriousness hurt anyone?

Hence, I made the thread in pure interest of where exactly it was going to lead. At no point did I mention arguements would be formed. I simply said serious debates are starting to form.

Rockette 07 Dec 2006 02:25

:D Well, if God were one of us, I reckon about now God would be saying, "Fight you ******s! :cheer: I hate peace!" :lmao:

Was that frivolous enough?

Pudding 07 Dec 2006 02:53

If God was one of us...then he'd be from Yorkshire and probably an Huddersfield Town supporter

Pud

Hmmm... would that be originally from Yorkshire, currently living in New Zealand, by any chance?

If God was one of us, SHE'd definitely be a mother, she'd need omnipotent and omnipresent qualities to be able to keep up without going crackers!

Well, Yorkshire is Land Of The Gods yes, but I doubt any deity would be into the level of self abuse that comes with being a Huddersfield Town supporter :))

mszee 07 Dec 2006 12:23

Off-topic alert!

What's with Huddersfield Town???

AndyK 07 Dec 2006 12:25

Football is like a religion to many in this country Zina. In fact there is a scholl of thought that says it's more important than religion to many. Football followers are just as zealous and fanatical, if not more so, than many religious people.
