In this 30+ minute interview we discussed numerous topics aside from the AFL such as the concerts within Australia and the related positive reviews from the fans, as well as the wonderful response we have been receiving for the new CD titled "Hell In A Handbasket" recently released in Australia. Unfortunately, the edited interview only focused on the AFL and some key statements. We all say things in the heat of the moment that we later regret and this was one of those moments for me. Yes, there were technical difficulties at the Grand Final pre-game performance which were extremely inopportune, and I didn't come off in the best light, however, the ill-response was extreme. I am a passionate person who leaves everything on stage, and my many fans world-wide know this for fact, but it was this same passion that brought me to lash out when I shouldn't have during the interview. Last, I also want to apologize to my fans. Their unrelenting support in Australia has been strong and hasn't gone unrecognized. "
Sincerely,
Meat Loaf.

So, no one's picked it up yet?

You're a class act, Meat.

KayBaby 27 Oct 2011 19:05

Are there any reports of this being picked up by the Oz media?

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere, there was this article which came out after the statement, it mentions his recent health scare but doesn't mention the statement.

And isn't that the NZ press? If it doesn't travel there I'd see it as a positive

Yes, that was the NZ press, but I thought he wanted his statement to travel? Or maybe just let the whole thing drop, at this point.

I don't know .. but I'd have thought that most people elsewhere would be pretty much unaware of it. It was the Australian press, resentful AFL fans, and a small group of bandwagon jumpers who were conducting their campaign on his FB page mainly, so I woudn't think the majority of people elsewhere would have noticed, except Meat's fans who seem behind him.

The statement was aimed at AFL fans, and they were mainly Australian surely. I always thought it stood for Anything For Love ;)

Why not post it straight onto the AFL's Facebook page?
By doing so it might be seen by a greater number of people!
Just a thought!
:-)

It's a good thought. Have any of the Aussie press picked it up yet?

melon 30 Oct 2011 13:58

Not that I have seen, but now I am thinking that just too much time has passed, it's all starting to die down again, maybe it's just too late for them to bring it up again?

realViking 30 Oct 2011 14:12

He might didn`t send it....he wasn`t sure if he would....I think....But what do I know....LoL

melon 30 Oct 2011 14:14

He sent it Tine, I am pretty sure. Those sorts of things you need to get done before too much time passes, while it is still current.

I think that's a good point. .. and posting it to the AFL FB might simply encourage more debate and re-fuel the energies of those relative few who have been seeking out Meat's page too post their negative and abusive nonsense there, because they aren't interested in who Meat is, nor are they likely to read or understand what he's said .. it might simply be a reminder and an invitation :(

On second thought you're right Caryl. If they haven't picked it up yet then it's probably best left alone and not stirring it up again.

I thought of it having a negative affect if posted on AFL's FB page this morning after I posted my comment last night. Sorry.

Unfortunately Meat is going to continue with this, so I suspect the cyber bullies will be rearing their heads once more :(

CarylB 31 Oct 2011 11:34

Rob, I posted my thought about posting it on the AFL FB page. Whatever Meat decides to do, it's his decision to make. This isn't about me or my feelings. It's about Meat. It's Monday. By the end of the week he should be home. I ignored those who went to Meat's page to dick about, because their numbers are actually relatively small, their minds smaller, and imo they deserve nothing more than having their comments and their jack-asses removed. If I need to ignore them again, I can.

Caryl, why so defensive? I never criticised you or said it was anything about you.
