Ya good point RadioMaster. Leno has a huge audience. His 160,000 or so social networking followers are like a fraction of that. so I guess its either a marketing mistake or a personal preference by Meat

no. stretch was being sarcastic. The fact it is an opportunity is a mistake in marketing because the marketing of this album usually isnt this competent

Exactly. It is a huge opportunity. Thats what I said isn't it?

The mistake is f**ing up and not making the twitter/fb updates part of the marketing plan. For instance, a simple 5 day countdown would have been great.

duke knooby 08 Aug 2010 23:00

ahhhhh right,

youngJB 09 Aug 2010 00:34

Leno is damn lucky to get a guy like Meat on as a guest act. The writers on the show suck, so the musical guest usually carries it.

on the other hand Meat Loaf's fb/tw followers already know about the album, so there's no need to make them aware of its existence. it's the people who would never check meat loafs facebook/twitter pages who are the target audience for this (i guess)

so marketing wise it wouldnt really make a difference

What about the TV ads over there, do they advertise who the guests are going to be?

I am looking forward to the show, personally i would choose IICHY, Living on The Outside or Elvis in Vegas just a personal preference. Will be happy just to see Meat singing a song from the album, good promo, better late than never !

Yeah same here, it will be great to see and hear Meat singing something from the new album, as you say it is great promo.

ya

Meat will wanna target people who dont own hctb, and convince them to buy it. Twitter/FB would only be useful to pass on the word to others.

Have you ever seen Leno? He can get pretty much whoever he wants whenever he wants, hell fire he got President Obama on his show. I think Meat Loaf is the lucky one, as more people watch Leno than bought HCTB ;)

Not only can Leno get anyone he wants, but he can do whatever he wants too. But truthfully, having seen his show a number of times, it's really lost the humor recently, so I'm sure I'll watch Meat then turn the channel, as will many.

suzieq 10 Aug 2010 05:23

~ approx. 24 hours until Leno appearance. For whatever he's singing, knock em' dead Meat!

Sue K 10 Aug 2010 11:47

tonight's the ... Tonight ... looking forward to it even if 'Imself sings... Mary Had A Little Lamb ...

... or Tiny Dancer ... ;) ... lol ...

RadioMaster 10 Aug 2010 11:49

To include violating union contracts, violating entertainment contracts, destroying the precious legacy of the Tonight Show that Johnny Carson, Steve Allen, and Jack Parr worked long and hard to establish. I am making the rare exception of flipping over from the wonderful David Letterman or FoxNews to watch Leno based solely on Meat Loaf being the guest.

stretch37 10 Aug 2010 21:08

I just checked my local canadian shaw tv listings. it listed two talk show guests. No Meat.

Just checked the tonight show website. No meat. wtf?

RadioMaster 10 Aug 2010 21:09

and so it begins again...

Sarge 10 Aug 2010 21:14

Looks as if Meat has been replaced by someone else. :? What's happened?

Vickip 10 Aug 2010 21:25

:( Maybe they decided he needed to take a couple of more nights to rest his voice
before starting the tour on Thursday :??:

He's still listed as the musical guest for George Lopez on the 17th ..
