Just catching up on my reading here... I thought Meat and NLE sounded and looked great on Leno! Meat -- Here's to know the next leg of your tour will be as awesome as the 1st leg!

Fire Ball 11 Oct 2010 04:28

LOTO, is getting airplay all over the US now . Hoping to get it on the mainstream rock charts by Christmas . it's 24 on classic rock chart.

Just jam to HCTB songs with the live environment on TV. bound to kick start something.

I mean getting a full version of LOTO on TV would be killer man ...

I can see you doing something like In the neighborhood. Should go something like this:

Bat Out Of Hell

Peace on Earth

Living on the Outside

Yeah, I just think we should extract the information out of the post that Meat has given us. And NOT focus on what you want to (i.e. explicitives for your sensitive eyes and brains). For instance: the song wasn't out of tune....debate over yay! WOH ~ doesn't know what they are talking about....confirmation yay! And the gist that WOH ~ is being a trouble maker. A very informative post from Meat. Just ignore what isn't directed at you.

Meat, Meat, really man you HAVE to calm down when you read stuff on here. If you read the whole thread then you'll see that White of High is pretty much the only person who criticised that performance and everyone else said he was wrong. We've all been annoyed by him stating things as fact that aren't and we've said so in this and other threads. But at the end of day you've really got to stop the name calling, it's really off putting and doesn't make you look good. You can't call someone names for an opinion.

We love you, we support you, we agree with you 99% of the time (as we do in this instance), so there's no need to overreact man. We've got your back on here.

You may be right, perhaps depending on the show. For my own curiousity sake, I'll check that out later.

CarylB 11 Oct 2010 13:26

And if you've been annoyed by what WoH said .. how much more annoying for the man who gave the great performance .. and who may well have read the other threads but perhaps only has time/inclination to post on one. Meat doesn't "have" to stop imo, and may want to manage his own back.

I've worked my ass off for tour and there's no way that the first time I'm seeing these new songs live is via YouTube so I've not watched Leno (or some of the Los Angeloser performances) but it's great to see so much positive feedback yet again, really can't wait to get to the shows!!!! :))

Although, disappointed yet again that so much excitement and good feeling from so many people is completely ignored.

It was a great performance. It's tough to pull it off live on TV and I have to say that you did. Don't really understand why anyone would want to be so down on it. I think that the way your doing it will pay off in the end with all the exposure and interviews.
Don't stop

AndrewG 11 Oct 2010 19:01

42 minutes sounds exactly correct. All episodes of Lost and 24 run for that time. In the UK we get 1 minute of X Factor and 129 minutes of adverts. :-P

Fantastic news. Checking out that performance on Leno, it's no wonder. I actually watched it and thought, I wonder what Meat was thinking at the end as he was looking down - before the guitars finished, just before he points in the air. Made me think of the story he told about when he did a song off Bat 1 in 1978 (might have been 2OUTTA3) and there was a brief silence before the crowd went wild. That was when Bat broke, so let's hope this is the start of big things for HCTB.

I checked one of the hour long shows, ads at airtime vs no ads on On Demand and it comes in at 44 minutes.

Evil One 11 Oct 2010 20:54

Whatever the figure, the ratio of content to shite is appalling and is only going to get worse. :shake:

And that's not even taking into account all the 'Coming up' 'Previously' 'Before the break' 'A couple of minutes ago because we think you're retarded' nonsense. I'm convinced some hour long programmes only have about 20 minutes of actual content.

Awesome - good luck with the charts. The US seems to have so many! As far as I know we only have the 1 in the UK, or maybe 2 as I think there is a classical chart too perhaps.

Either way, hope it goes well and this helps bring in a whole new audience for you and HCTB!

It's a matter of proportionality. He claimed it was out of tune - which one can object to - but he didn't say "Meat Loaf is a stupid §*%!$" or something like that. I'd rather see you threatening to paint people's houses in funny colors than using that kind of language. :-)

Most people on here I'd think would, but surely the decision to release a live DVD of the tour would need to be based on the market beyond here. If that suggested it would sell in sufficient numbers in the right market (ie those who don't have HCTB or aren't going to shows) it would be a way of bringing songs from the album to a wider market's attention ..

But much as I'd love another DVD it surely need more than the numbers here to make it viable, so I don't see what a poll here would achieve

I have watched this performance a few dozen times. The mix is amazing! Each instrument and each vocal is clear and distinct. You can even hear the tambourine. I can't think of 2 singers in music today that sound better together than Meat & Patti. "The Tonight Show" arrangement was much better than the concert version. I Loved it!!

Meat

Hey, it takes a lot to stop and say "I was wrong. I am sorry", even to someone else, when you're pissed off by something. Kudos Meat for doing so.

Can't help but see Meat's point about the opinion thing though guys. It's like saying "it's not October". Fine to say "I don't like October" but the former is undeniable. We all heard Meat in tune and on fire but that one factually incorrect comment was enough to piss me off when I read it, and it wasn't even about me. We love the passion Meat puts into his music - can't really be surprised when he's passionate about stuff when he's not singing.

That was probably one of, if not the most important TV gigs Meat has had in 5 years. Leno said it best when he said "welcome back buddy, nice job".

It has been edited from what it said originally said, which you may or may not have seen. White Of High DID post an opinion, just because that opinion wasn't glowing with roses, doesn't make it any less valid or a source for outbursts of anger.

Wait?!
People didn't like a measly curse word in a song? Seriously?

To me, that's being a bit anal.

I think there is a difference between the F word being used as a curse word and it being used to describe sex. That's my opinion anyway.

The F words the F word.

Musically it works. If it said "Screw you when your low" then it wouldn't have that pizazz

For once, I agree with WL.

Personally I love the fact that Meat finally dropped the F-bomb in a song but it's the song it's self I don't like.

Musically it works? Pizazz? is the lamest excuse ever to go beyond the acceptable boundaries of what we've come to expect from Meat Loaf lyics. I absolutely don't have any problem with singers swearing and telling about girls who ~~~~ you but don't give me this crap. I expect this from Eminem. I don't expect this from Meat Loaf. It's downright embarrassing in my opinion. In my opinion Meat Loaf surrounded himself with the wrong song writers for this one. He doesn't need to resort to those kind of lyrics to make his music work. If he keeps doing that I'm off for sure. Meat Loaf used to offer a "safe" rock n roll environment, with indeed sexual innuendoes all over the place but not songs about girls ~~~~ing you and how big your dick is. Take those innuendoes out and change lyric style to be more direct and different is bound to alienate fans. The innuendoes I find clever and often poetic, the ~~~~ing and dicks I find rather dumb.

Evil One 16 Oct 2010 12:51

In my opinion it was an unnecessary attempt to shock.

Elijah's way 16 Oct 2010 13:20

I don't understand why people are so offended by it!! if you don't like the cussing or in my case the song it's self just skip the damn thing and move on. and if you cuss but it's wrong for Meat to do so in a harmless song than you are very much contradicting yourself. I guess it takes an open mind to accept his new style and the cussing in the songs, and I'm sure by saying this I'll probably offend someone "sorry if it does" I'm not changing the way I think about this situation. and to say you're going to stop being a fan if he keeps recording songs with cussing in them is absolutely ludicrous!! I guess he should play it safe to keep a few fans happy:barf:

the rant is over now I can be ripped to shreds and laugh about it later.

It's not the first time Meat has sworn in a song. How about the line "you can shove it up your arse" in Lemon? You really need to lighten up and not take it all so seriously. It's no big deal.

That's the trouble, everybody can say (or write) "fück" and "dick". It's nothing special, it's almost as uninspired and lazy as using a lot of "lalala" and "nanana" for lyrics.

Monstro 16 Oct 2010 13:49

Gone wayyyyyyy off topic again

Think there's nothing more to add to the Leno topic now
