The whole thing left a bit of a bad taste though, when I read this story about the writer/director of the movie.

oh dear... not good... it's a shame when folks whose work is good but who get into such devious troubles can make one uncomfortable to enjoy and/ or say they enjoy their works ... ie Ninth Gate and Rosemary's Baby ... both directed by Roman Polanski ... and the first starring Johnny Depp ! ... what's a fan to do ?? ...

 Dirty f*cker

As Tink says, what is a fan to do.

An actor that appeared in a few films I like (Amadeus, Ferris Beuller, Beetlejuice, Ed Wood, Sleepy Hollow, Howard THe Duck, Devil's Advocate, Without A Clue, Who's Harry Crumb) is Jeffrey Jones, and I was very disapointed when I heard about the indecent pictures of a minor case.
Same as the Polanski case.

You can still watch their work, but you still feel disgust and disapointment whenever they appear on screen.

I remember when Gary Glitter got nabbed, and there was a great outpouring by his fans where they all gathered to burn their records and memerobillia.
I honestly can't say I blame them.

RadioMaster 21 Jun 2010 21:05

a scary thought would be what you'd do/feel if this had happened to Meat Loaf...

Evil One 21 Jun 2010 21:10

Yes, or indeed Steinman. Could you still listen to For Crying Out Loud knowing that the writer had been kiddiefiddling?

The Flying Mouse 21 Jun 2010 21:14

 I think an awful lot of people who are fans of an artist had that go through their mind either at the time or at some point since.

I think it's a sympathetic reaction to the poor sods who were so let down by their idol.

Luckily, we have Meat & Jim.

Yes, I really liked it. It actually was creepy, and quite original.

Ah. Well, that's your choice of course. Personally, I would strongly recommend watching Part 1 again :)

I'll pardon the expression, as I'm assuming that wasn't a pun based on the story content ;)

Anyhow, it does make you feel a bit upset when you watch the film again - a little guilty perhaps. I used to do Rock N Roll Christmas at Karaoke at Uni around Christmas time, which is a cracking Gary Glitter track. Had to stop when he got arrested. Couldn't sing it anymore. Feel guilty enjoying listening to his music. Weird.

Just watching The Screaming Skull. That movie is so bad... The "special" effects... :wtf: I'm about to fall off my chair laughing. :lmao:

Someone bought me that for a birthday, I think I watched it once and wasn't impressed so it's been savingvthe shelf from getting dusty ever since....

Okay, who wants to play spot the themes?

Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve, Ocean's Thirteen, The Other Boleyn Girl, (hence the desire to re-read the book) Elizabeth, and Elizabeth: Thr Golden Age...

Can you tell hubby's away again?

Sue K 28 Jun 2010 11:40

Jeepers Creepers .. actually ... hehe ...

RadioMaster 28 Jun 2010 11:56

... a big too ... gooey for my taste ... hehe... and the character morphing played by Jeff Goldblum seemed to take a big too much glee from what he was turning into... i like the original for what it was ... love Vincent Price... and the ending was classic... ***helpme... hellllp... helpme *** ... good stuff ...

Sarge 28 Jun 2010 12:30

Both versions of The Fly are very good, in my opinion. The 1986 movie is typical Cronenberg.

Last movies I saw:

L'istruttoria e'chiusa: dimentichi
Flightplan - Started out interesting but the ending was a letdown.
The Haunting (the remake, I liked the original better)

24K 28 Jun 2010 14:00

I really liked Flightplan and the ending, a bit predictable maybe.

I just watched The Butterfly Effect Part 3, very good ! Much better than 2, but not up with Part 1, imo Ashton Kutchers best movie. Part One was very original and different, part 2 was too slow, but part 3 threw a big surprise at the end, not what i expected. Very gorey in places, enjoyed it !

The premise for Flightplan was pretty good and it did start realyl strongly, sadly the latter half of the film was packed with some major plot flaws and unrealistic scenarios. I know films are supposed to be a little bit of fantasy, but in this case the fantasy was so far removed from reality it spoiled the film.

RadioMaster 28 Jun 2010 15:36

is that the one where Jodie Foster lost her daughter on an airplane?

AndyK 28 Jun 2010 15:49

Yup.

I try not to think when watching a film, isn't hard for me to do;) LOL..
Watched Perfect Stranger last night, was a bit slow but kept my interest and it certainly wasn't predictable, a very good whodunnit, well acted, and hubby liked Halle Berry with not many clothes on;) LOL..

RadioMaster 29 Jun 2010 11:42

The Fly II

wasnt bad, not as good as the first one but entertaining nonetheless

PanicLord 29 Jun 2010 22:38

The Princess And The Frog - excellent - very nearly classic Disney, their best in a LONG time!

Shrek 4 in 3D. Ok. 3D gave me a headache. I find Shrek mildly entertaining rather than actually funny, but passed the time amusingly enough I guess.

2001 maniacs

"I had absolute confidence in a fart once. I shat all over myself."

(Thanks Neil!)

Hypnobabe 02 Jul 2010 12:32

Inspired by other recent viewing, I'm currently watching Jeepers Creepers....

Sue K 02 Jul 2010 14:35

... and i inspired as well ? ... hehe... ended up watching The Fly ... Jeff Goldblum ... i still turned away from the icky bits ... but ... i saw more the need for compassion for the "creature" this time around ... Gina Davis though ? ... not good cryer ... she got on my nerves... lol ... although there could have been a longer pause before she fulfilled request ... yeah ...

AndyK 02 Jul 2010 14:47

Just started series two of Life On Mars.

Last night featured the classic Gene Hunt line "Don't move you're surrounded by armed ~~~~~~~s" :lmao:

 Glad you liked it

Was watching the 1st Rambo movie last night, but got a bit tired and went to bed.

Evil One 02 Jul 2010 16:23

Batman Begins. A slow start but still an awesome film, even with ITV2's poorly placed ad breaks.
