Watched New Nightmare Tuesday night, then we started on the original series last night with a double bill of 1 & 2.

3 & 4 on tonights schedule

When I was about 17 or 18, my ex-husband found out I'd never seen any of the Nightmare films, so he got them all out of the video shop and made me stay up all night watching them all, one after the other.... The following morning he styled his friend's hair using a vacuum cleaner...

I realise you've already seen it now, but if I'd seen this earlier, I'd have told you not to bother if you're only watching it for Brian Cox, I think he got about five minutes total screen time.... It was interesting to see Gil Grissom as Will Graham tho'....

My last movie? The Number 23. I quite like Jim Carrey in a serious role, but it's difficult to take him entirely seriously...

 Really?
That's a shame.
I like Brian Cox.

The reviews of the picture and sound quality were actually quite harsh...though I fail to see why. I mean, not every movie can measure up to avatar, especially when it's ten years old.

I dont think it has to btw, the quality is far superior to the DVD. If it had been any better I would've wondered about the quality all the time, instead of enjoying the movie.

Apparently Universal is re-releasing the movie later this year, newly mastered from the original reels, to conicide with the blu ray release of Robin Hood.

PanicLord 18 Jun 2010 23:24

Surely a film released around 2000 doesn't need remastering? Will probably have to buy that as well though

Anyhow, just watched Saw 6. Big improvement on 4 and 5. Much more like it!

RadioMaster 18 Jun 2010 23:29

you can get it quite cheap at the moment, paid 11€ for the two disc version, it's getting so cheap as everyone's waiting to buy the new version.

Got that a while back, there's a considerable amount of extra footage too, as well as the better quality... something like 15 minutes...

I thought that one was brilliant! A truly horrifying movie that didnt rely on guts or jump scares but really built tension and fear througout the whole movie.

Check out Rogue, another australian croc movie from the same year. Completely different, more hollywood-friendly approach, but an interesting watch as well.

part to is on the menu for me tonight.

The whole thing left a bit of a bad taste though, when I read this story about the writer/director of the movie.
