Fantastic rock song! What a kicking intro! Then it goes quiet, and that dark voice comes in. Then it goes hard rockin again!

Amazing lyrics, what power! Vocals are superb! Love it! All of it!

10\10!

I think Original Sin is a great song, with it's dark piano and powerful vocals. I would really like to hear a live version of this song.

really like this song..in anyway

Pudding 16 Nov 2005 08:17

This is one amazing song, but for me, Meat really didn't do it any favours at all...IMO
Best version there is, has got to be by Taylor Dayne and the video is fantastic.

I love this song too, but I am going to try and find Taylor Dayne's copy for comparison. By the way, Pandora's Box's version is also good, but Meat's is much better!

LOVE this song. Honestly, it may be my favorite song of all time, there's something so dark and appealing about it. Meat's is the only version I can stand to hear. Sorry guys, I HATE the Pandora's Box version. It just totally screws the song.

Sorry for the slight delay in getting back to you Pud ;)

I prefer it because it is a bit more rocky and slightly less Phil Spector. Also, Meat sings it really well and I think it suits a male voice better (especially the intro and outro).

I like both Meat's and the Pandora's Box version of OS. I was just wondering if anyone has heard the adapted version of OS from Dance of the Vampires? It's pretty different lyrically, but still a very powerful song. I hate the Crawford version I heard, but the Steve Barton demo is fantastic!

Definitely go for the Taylor Dayne version. Imagine if this had have been in the Batman musical (LOL, there I go again...)

I feel if Steinman had have produced the Meat Loaf version it would be 100% better than it already is. It just feels like Meat has taken all the subtlety of the song and turned it into a rock-out

His version is good but bland compared to the others. I also think Jim's original LITD kicks the cr!p out of Meat's, which doesn't even come close, and Streisand's take is even more frightening.

But ech...

Best version I've heard is "Tanz der Vampire". I love how it's a recurring motif

Pudding 15 Jun 2006 10:01

The song definitely suits a female voice better. I know this is a Meat Loaf board and people think that Meat Loaf's versions of any songs that he sings, are waaaaay better than anyone else's, but this isn't one of them.

hmm.. you are probably right.

RSG 15 Jun 2006 16:31

I still haven't changed my rating for this big song, but recently I have heard TD's and hers is just as good. As for the video, I agree with you Pud. :D

Great Song...love it and would love it even more if there was a video...this song can make for one hell of a powerful video...

9/10 minimum...

Pudding 16 Jun 2006 06:02

There's a Taylor Dayne video if that helps, pretty bloody good as well.

Taylor Dayne...that's a blast from the past...

She disappeared from the radar here a long time ago...Never knew she recorded Original Sin.

Is it something available on the Net? Have to look for it...thanks!

Found it...still don't like female voice for this song...it comes off screechy in some parts...just like Pandora's Box version...although this one is by far better one...
