That's how I got the cd. I can't burn cds, I was just recommending that people should find it.

Bart 29 Jan 2004 11:58

Jim could sing very well before he broke his nose. At least its what i read in some books/interviews.

PanicLord 29 Jan 2004 19:36

ROFL!!!

Thats what Barbra Striesand said.......not forgetting Barry Manilow

Loafy Meats 29 Jan 2004 22:40

I really can't take to Jim singing at all. I heard a few songs from b sides of Meat singles and it grated on me..... oh well.....

Pudding 30 Jan 2004 02:18

I'm a big Steinman fan but I have to admit that his singing doesn't do much for me neither. Shame about his broken nose though!

rockfenris2005 31 Jan 2004 10:19

You're a Steinfan and yet you don't know about the broken nose story? Please research it. It's a very strange story

Pudding 31 Jan 2004 21:17

Yes I know about the broken nose story. There are other people in this world who has heard of Jim Steinman you know Ryan, so stop coming across that you think you are the only person who knows anything and everything about the man.

I said "Shame about his broken nose though!" which would indicate in my statement that it's a shame about his broken nose and not 'what broken nose??.

Please give me here the broken nose story!!!

OK, but I tell you it's boring.

When Jim was younger (still in College) he wanted to be a singer/performer but some accident left him with a broken nose and could no longer reach the notes he once could. That's why in interviews and such when people ask why he doesn't sing any of his own songs he says it's because he got a broken nose when he was younger.

Told you it was boring.

I heard it was by some lesbian biker chick? I can't remember where I read it, but that's what I heard. Not know, believe me I don't know much about Steinman, and as far as musical and writing goes, thats pretty much where I stay interested. Everything else if he wants people to know I think he'll say himself :)

Bart 03 Feb 2004 11:09

i think thats the correct story. Its been written in The phenomenon of excess.
" i had been in this big fight and had my nose badly broken by this 6 foot 2 inch lady biker with a tattoo! The surgeon messed it up worse, and i couldn't even talk for about a year and a half".

The Flying Mouse 03 Feb 2004 17:23

 Thanks Bart.
I was wondering where i'd heard that story before

The Bad For Good album is pretty good.

The title track is fantastic.I've heard an early live version of Meat singing it and it's awesome.I'd love a good studio performance to be on Bat III 8)

Stark Raving Love is another highlight of the album. It's a great song. The only thing that spoils for me is the Lost Boys & Golden Girls verse. It's just too cheesy :? .I'd expect it from Stars On 45 but not from Jimmy.

I love The Storm 8) .I can listen to that on repeat for hours.A really well done piece of music :D .

I prefare Meat's versions to Jim's and Rory's, but that's just my opinion.Meat's voice is much stronger, and for me makes the songs better to listen too.The versions on Bad For Good are a lot softer.I don't do subtle

As for Dead Ringer.I honestly think it's a much underated album. Many people think that his voice had not fully recovered when he recorded it, but I think his voice was amazing on it.The songs are really difficult to sing (much harder than the Bat album IMHO), and I don't see how it could have been done better 8) .

Pudding 03 Feb 2004 23:29

I'd really like Meat to do a full orchestral version of Surf's Up as his version on Bad Attitude just gives me the chills, it's bloody awful...In My Opinion.

Pud:o]

RSG 03 Feb 2004 23:49

I LOVE Surf's Up, on Bad Attitude,

but yes, I would love to see an orchestral version myself 8)

I think I'm a sucker for the overblown bombastic orchestral Steinman production, which was obviously missing on Bad Attitude. And don't get me wrong I like Bad Attitude as an album but there's something about someone else producing a Steinman song that doesn't seem quite right, apart from Todd Rundgren of course.

Pudding, you edited your post! I remember you saying something that implied that you DIDN'T know the story. Believe me, I have a very good memory. Have you tampered with the post or something? Is it some kind of joke to get back at me? I know what I saw. I wouldn't have wasted my time in replying otherwise....

Bart 04 Feb 2004 17:15

BFg is a great album indeed. I love all the piano chords. Their fantastic. The storm is great and what i've read very expensive (50,000 dollars).
When i listen to the record i always pretend Meat is singing it. Also the whole "mood"of the album is rather hmmm, how i say in English, dark. When i listen to the whole record, i don't get a happy feeling. Its a total different mood/feeling/atmosphere than bat, though the concept is equal.

I actually can't see which post you're referring to????

I never said I didn't know the story, so your memory isn't as sharp as you'd like everyone to think. I don't usually imply anything, either you know exactly what I'm trying to say or I'm not saying anything at all.
As for editing, I only edit when I've spotted a big grammatical error, bad spelling mistake or I didn't do the quote thing properly.

I have no reason to get back at for anything, so you must be wasting your time, just like I am now, replying to your post which doesn't make sense.

Hi Pud,

If you had edited the post I do believe that it would have had a notation to that effect on it... So you didn't edit it. 8)

Di
.... who will stay on topic by making comment that she loves this album... But not as much as BOOH and BOOH II. ;)

rockfenris2005 06 Feb 2004 10:31

No, he's playing smart with me - because he thinks I'm too smart for my own good. I know his game and I won't play into it.

The Flying Mouse 06 Feb 2004 10:37

 When someone edit's their posts, a note appears on the post to indicate that it has been edited, unless the post edited is still the last one on the thread.

Can we get back to talking about the album now?

Aye you are correct. On PHPBB it does give a notation as default.

And as for the album, my friends dad has it, and he said its good. There I kept on topic
