Sound at Plymouth was pretty bad - I was about 2/3rds of the way back - am v v short so a bit scared to be in the thick of the crowds and not fast enough to be at the front so took the easy way out and headed back a bit for some space to jig about.

When Meat came on the sound was really low, they did crank it up a bit as the show went on but the mix didn't seem to be quite right. Some of Meat's vocals were getting lost in the mix. :( I am sure this will be honed to perfection as the tour progresses.

Plus you have to remember that the Pavilions is a pretty small venue and they've only really started to attract bigger named acts in recent years. No-one tours the South West - we are the forgotten audience! It's getting better though and Meat's appearance at the venue and his rapturous reception from an eager crowd starved of live acts down there can only help encourage others to come. Otherwise, we end up travelling to Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff or London! Plus, Meat's probably one of the loudest acts they've ever had! :lol:

Can't wait for Wembley in November and December - the only advantages of being in London, the choice of gigs and venues! :wink:

Thank you, Black Queen. 'Everyone' is talking about the sound at plymouth pavillions, from front to the back, it seems. They will have to do something about that, I think they will.
The sound at Wembley will be a lot better!
I like reading these 'reports' specially when everyone had a wonderful evening!

Terry and Jules, I think you are the first people from this forum (except for Fire Ball and Metal Loaf ofcourse) to be going to a US show.
Well, I wanted to say 'have a great time' but in this case that would be an understatement!!!

I was right at the front at plymouth & if its any consolation, the sound was the same for deep purple a few months previous!!!
Am hoping to get to the NEC in December & wondered how long you think the show will be....2 hours at Plymouth but some say he normally plays for longer (humour me as I'm new! :wink: )

Thanks Farlap, that's interesting. Could be the venue is just acoustically very bad.

By Meat's usual standards that was a short set. In the concerts I've seen in recent years he has normally been on stage between 2 hrs. 15 mins. - 2 hrs. 30 mins.

Those who remember his shows from the late 80s will tell you that it wasn't unusual for him to be on stage for up to 3 hrs.! 8)

Oh, and did I say welcome Farlap? Always great to see another newbie. Have fun! :D

I was at the Plymouth gig and it was fabulous but not a big production. The venue itself is pretty small so none of the special effects, pyrotechnics or costume changes were there. This was expected to be a bit of a warm up anyway, but still worth it to be in the presence of the man himself...and to see him in my home town where I was first introduced to BOOH was awesome!!!!! Pity Patti wore her 'pyjamas bottoms' though and no slinky numbers like usual - would have been nice if she'd made the effort! The set list is not necessarily going to be the same everywhere I wouldn't have thought....hope the rest of you have a great time when your gigs come around!! :D

I really, really, really, REALLY hope Meat will play Plymouth again soon... I was devestated when I learnt that there was a date and that it had sold out :(

I'm a bit surprised to see Bat not right at the end, but this could easily change I guess.

I went to the Plymouth gig, and after waiting almost 30 years to see Meat live I wouldn't have cared if he'd had just stood there. :roll: I thought the sound was great the atmosphere amazing and Meat was just outstanding. As for Patti she was as good and as powerful as she always is. I am not a sound expert. I like what I like and if I can hear it that's fine by me so I couldn't tell you if the sound was right, wrong or indifferent all I know is that it was a brilliant show and I am really hoping that Meat will come back to Plymouth as an extra last date. :wink:

It's so lovely to see he did "I'd lie for you..." - I am praying he will do this at Wembley... :bunny:

I know exactly what you mean :)
I saw him do "I'd Lie For You" at Atlantic City in September, 2001.
It was the first time I ever saw him in concert, and I'll never forget how wonderful it sounded. I'd love to hear him do it again when I see him this September at the Mohegan Sun in Connecticut !!
