I love the explanation about the CD title .. and it makes me smile too :-)

I've never seen a Bad Attitude poster. i have seen a CHSIB poster. Before the mall removed my favourite record store there was a painting of Back Into Hell. In the last couple years they covered it up with mini posters of mediocre rock and such.

I think he was using Bad Attitude as an example. I don't remember seeing any Meat Loaf posters in the record store around here. But I found posters for both CHSIB and Bat 3on Ebay, and have them framed and hanging up in the computer / tv room in my house :-) I can't wait to see one for the new CD !

 Don't forget, back in 84 Meat wasn't very big in Canada/America.

You'd be far more likely to see Bad Attitude advertising the other side of the pond.

Also Anthony, another good reason you never saw any posters for Bad Attitude at the time is that it came out three years before you were born :lmao:

''My statement about defending that title'' ...WTF! Why should Meat have to defend his records title to anyone?... On here or otherwise!?

His record, his title... No one's holding a gun to anyones head and forcing them to buy it!...

Today's elevator tweet was fun, No? I certainly didn't wake up today to expect that today. And here I sat, laughing, waiting and waiting and watching this cool conveyor~elevator. I could tell Meat was excited to share this elevator as if to say, "look it really exists." Just like the fact he was proving he was really in Berlin showing us the snow out the window. He really cracks me up sometimes. Today was no exception.

I agree Suzie, he was so funny going up and down the elevator. He was like an exccited little kid.

Those two videos really made my day. :-)

Can't stop laughing, it is so funny.:-)

K1ttycat 04 Feb 2010 11:53

Those two videos were so funny! Never saw those type of elevators either - I normally prefer elevators to stairs but I think these would freak me out...lol!!!

CarylB 04 Feb 2010 14:12

First time I came across one of these was many years ago in .. of all places .. a Cardiac Unit .. I thought they might be trying to rustle up customers! .. and like Meat, to begin with I felt a lot happier on the downward journey getting in a bit early before the floor was disappearing downwards ;)

Great Tweets .. and Meat's excitement made me lol .. :D

Caryl

carole 04 Feb 2010 15:02

I've never come across elevators like that either, I think it may be a bit tricky if you're stuck at the back behind slow people getting off. I think they'd freak me out a bit too.

Carole

They're actually not big enough for many people .. generally with step-on-step-off lifts is you get on one with someone you're travelling with .. particularly if you're not used to them! (the lifts that is ;) ) .. and the upside is that there's always the next one coming up a few seconds later. They're much quicker to get on and off, no waiting for doors to open/close, no pushing a button and waiting, nor sighing as you see all the ones in operation are going in the opposite direction to the one you want .. you just get on the up or down side :-) And you don't have a mass of people you have to get past in order to get out as you do with conventional lifts .. They're aimed at fast passenger movement particularly where there's limited space, not for people with luggage or supermarket trolleys ... I've found them in office buildings and hospitals (for passengers only .. no trolleys and associated life support systems .. ) and haven't yet seen them in hotels or even department stores.

Up to two people in one wagon are allowed.:-)

K1ttycat 04 Feb 2010 17:49

hmmm....another problem could be knowing when to get off ie. if you are in a 20 story building, for example...would entail out loud counting or a large number plastered in the hallway!!! :)

The videos are hysterical  I would definitely take the stairs .... I got dizzy and clostrophobic (sp?) just watching the elevator !!

It's great seeing Meat having so much fun :))

Sarge 04 Feb 2010 22:38

He obviously had fun. I especially like the part when he talks to the girls. :lawl:

There was such an elevator (paternoster) at the university at which I studied. The building in which it was located does no longer exist. The videos make me a little nostalgic. I think there was an attempt to put all paternosters in Germany out of service a few years ago but it failed. Fortunately - otherwise we wouldn't have gotten those funny videos.

Does anybody know which building it is in? I assume it's "Haus des Rundfunks" but Meat says the elevator is from 1978. As far as I know, West Germany has not allowed new paternosters to be put into operation since the middle of the 1970s. :??: I think it's probably older. Does anybody have further info?

Vickip 05 Feb 2010 03:01

Meat was saying that there was a picture of him with the radio DJ from
1978. I don't know how old the elevator is, but I'd love to hear more about it too Sarge :-)

There was an incident which caused them to be taken out of service in the UK (back in the 80s I think) until safety features were fitted (I think that was with someone who rode it over the top .. something I don't think I'd do! I waited for one going in the direction I wanted!) We still have one in Sheffield Uni in the Arts building, quite big around 40 cars. Mainly they're installed here now for moving goods between floors, but I thought there was talk of a company designing one with doors? ... Not sure how that would work .. and spoils the fun really ;)

Thank you, I obviously did not listen attentively, I was very tired when I watched the videos. Heard "in front of this crazy elevator... from 1978", wasn't aware of that he was still referring to the pic. I'm getting old, LOL.

I could see how someone's bright idea could land themselves in a world of pain. Mainly because so many people are lawsuit happy...I would never see this fly in the US (today or yesteryear). There are too many people who have to have "caution hot coffee" written on their cups, to take the stupidity factor to a whole new level. This elevator is a prime example of one man's floor is another man's ceiling. :))

I agree re the USA .. :-) I checked out of interest and it was in 1989, the paternoster in Newcastle University's Claremont Tower was taken out of service after a passenger undertaking an up-and-over journey became caught in the drive chain, and had to be rescued by the Fire Service. This led to the 18-month close-down of all UK paternosters for a safety review, during which additional safety devices were fitted.

At Sheffield one of the 50 top things to achieve whilst at university (I don't think getting a degree features on this list!) is apparently to have sex whilst going over the top in the lift in the Arts building .. which may explain what went wrong at Newcastle .. ;) I think all of those still in service in the UK are now in buildings where they are used only by employees and students in universities

I had time to reflect on the past two tweets. For clarification [in case he sneaks another one in before people read this post :) ]The one from Zurich with a room full of people and the one from exciting things happening.

The Zurich one had me looking for another tweet all day because he said, "I'll tell you later what we're doing." And I took that literally for the day. So thankfully that teaser tweet was satisfied by the exciting things happening tweet. Meat is pioneering another method of promo work. Kind of like a "private invitation viewing/listening experience" with the man behind the vision. I love this!!! How intimate and intricate. IF these are media critics (i.e. room full of people)...then it's absolute genius. Cut the critics balls off before the album even hits the shelf. Checkmate critics.

And IF this room full of people are movers and shakers in the business, then that too is a genius idea because he's captivated his market with a private experience just for them. A perfect set up for this album. Go get em' Meat. I love what angle Meat is coming from. How can they resist him? They simply can't.

I could be completely wrong and I'm okay with being wrong, but at the very least this is a very interesting form of promo Meat is definitely pioneering. I say, Go Meat Go!! Full support coming from me.

Promo idea sounds fantastic - forces the critics to actually listen to the album for one thing, gets the word out superbly, and who's going to tell Meat they don't like it to his face :lawl:. Critics are likely to be positively disposed towards Meat at least for making the time and effort to see them and demo the album. Meat seems pleased with the responses so far, so this just makes me even more excited about the new album than ever!

Seriously though, this promo idea sounds phenomenal. I volunteer to be in the next UK group.

Good evening Meat!

Please let me make an assumption: You have listed different cities (Amsterdam, Berlin) in your tweet after the "Zürich-tweet where you did the same kind of promotion. Could we expect that there will be higher chances for concerts in these cities?

Or have you talked to international press in Zürich and Zürich was just the easiest place to meet?

Damn, the Park Hyatt wasn't that far away. I need a sixth sense for that!:D

Did anyone really think it was? Sloppy cover and, according to some who had already got it elsewhere, really poor reproduction. That alone convinces me he wouldn't have sanctioned its release .. If the recording of a concert IS offered for sale without his approval, it's like working your ass off to put food on the table and seeing thieves sneak in to take it away and sell it on .. in indifferently cooked dishes at that! .. or indeed, to boot ;)

Meat finds himself in enough "compilations" about which he knows nothing .. Something which seems to be of bootleg quality appearing on the shelves (internet at least) is the last thing I would imagine he'd want .. and even less so when he's about to unleash something he's so very proud of and excited about

well, the 3 bats cd wasnt much diffrent then, was it?

it all depends if the owner of the copyright decides to sell it, not Meat.
In this case showtime, but apparently something was wrong after all...

CarylB 20 Feb 2010 13:51

In my view completely different. Bat3 was released after agreements had been reached and is a wonderful album.

It would seem Meat wasn't consulted about this DVD of the show from Mexico, and in my view has a genuine interest, which appears to have won the day. And as neither of us are privy to the original contracts and copyright ownership agreements in this case we will need to agree to hold entirely different views.

I think you misunderstood Radiomaster. He wasn't referring to Bat 3, but the cheap cash-in that was 3 Bats Live CD.

Yes the Cheap Ass cash-in 3 bats CD, total BS live, which I screamed and yelled and "threw all my toys out of the Pram" over. Another reason for changes I made
in the last 2 years.

Yes I did .. mea culpa ..

But it doesn't alter the basic points I was making .. (and as Meat has just said so eloquently, he wasn't exactly on board with that either ;) )

Fireball, while you're lurking about I was hoping you could answer a couple of things that have bugged me (and no doubt other people too)

Why did they choose to put Bad For Good on that crappy CD instead of The Monster Is Loose? They are they same length and BFG had vocal issues.

Also why were those vocal problems not rectified before the DVD was released?

AndrewG 20 Feb 2010 16:18

As the Dutch saying goes... It sounds like we are dragging old cows out of the ditch again.... Jesus... :-(

Isn' there a new album and a new tour on the horizon?? Why live in the past when you can live in the present..

To be fair, the problems seemed to be technical not vocal as you can still hear Meat singing, just somewhat muted (especially on the final, held 'good'). It sounds like he's not being picked up by his mic.

However I do agree that it's odd to not fix this at all before release of the DVD and then again for the Blu-Ray since it is a professional concert recording as it does unfortunately spoil it, and for me is the only thing wrong with the show.

But still, new album soon :-D. I've been getting so excited now that I've pre-ordered it I keep forgetting that I still got to wait 2 months to actually get it!!

Evil One 20 Feb 2010 16:32

Is it not possible to discuss the past and the future then?

They thought they'd get more money by releasing a CD too, and that's all that matters to the record company...Correct?

I for one thought the DVD was enough. It had so much on it....practically crammed with stuff. So getting the DVD and the CD of the 3 bats was too much .

Evil One 20 Feb 2010 16:41

The CD was pointless. It contained nothing that wasn't already available on the DVD. It would have been a better plan to make the CD from one of Meat's UK shows on the first leg of the tour. Then there would be a reason to buy it. A different performance, Meat not sounding ill and most of all: In The Land Of The Pig!

They picked, but I hate "the monster is loose" That is a whole other story. Don't ask . We are moving forward. !!! Have no need to relive the past except to try and correct mistakes and not make the same ones in the future.
Those who dwell in the past , hold grudges, never attempt to understand the truth, refuse to the explore what is the real truth and follow only the stupid and jealous are just lost in their own very dark, cold, hateful , all important, low self esteem world, living only with their nonsensical reality of truth.
"Judge not, lest ye not be Judged"
Those who judge are only judging themselves.
How true is that and who is not guilty.
Hoping everyone who comes here, are going to be brave , bold, fair to all, and move forward into the future with hope and trust and a positive outlook to the future. With the willingness to search out the real truth and not assume because they read it or some one else told them, it is so. Try not take the easy way out . This is my wish for everyone in this world today.
