View Full Version : What was the last thing you bought?

If you want to post it, that is!;)
I last bought couple of Christmas pressies, funny golf mug for my brother, pyjamas for Mam.
For myself: a keyring of Dr Who's K-9 from M&S, he's so cute!:mrgreen: Better a keyring for £2.50 than a £30+ remote control one that I'll use once then put on a shelf somewhere and never use again!:roll:
The last thing I bought was black nail polish...after staring at it at home for a while I have discarded the idea...
Being the practical sort, the last thing I bought was a tank full of petrol.

Come to think about it I can't remember the last time I bought a "thing" for myself, I seem to be working to pay for living at the minute!!!

I don't now but it was enough for a decent potato dauphnoise and to get the kitchen clock running again!
Do I want to know what dauphnoise is???
I HAVE to try your cooking...this is something that intrigues me...
2 large floury potatoes, eg baking potatoes;
150ml milk;
150ml double cream;
1-2 cloves of garlic, crushed;
salt and pepper;
25g butter;
50g tasty cheddar cheese, grated
Place the cream, milk and garlic in a saucepan and slowly bring to the boil. Remove and allow to cool.
Peel and thinly slice the potatoes (about 2mm thick).
Butter a small baking tray or earthenware ovenproof dish and season lightly with salt and pepper. Arrange slices of potato over the bottom of the dish overlapping as you go, lightly seasoning each layer with salt and pepper until all the potato is used.
Pour over the cream and milk mixture until the potatoes are just covered. Press down the potatoes with a fish slice or something flat so that the cream covers all of the potatoes.
Bake in a moderate oven (180øC 350øF Gas 4) for about 30 minutes.
Turn the oven down to 150øC 300øF Gas 2 and sprinkle the potatoes with grated cheese. Cook until tender for a further 15 minutes (approx).
If the potatoes get too brown on top, cover with silver foil.
But i generally mix a bit of sliced onion into the potato layers!
A pack of Christmas cards and a huge present ( thought that I'd attempt to get into Christmas, seeing as everyone else is! )
Thanks...this is what happens every time somebody asks you to cook for them??? :shock:

Well I sha´n´t be stopping up late to help with any art projects. Given the amount I have spent on these pyjamas, I will be having several early nights in order to get my monies worth out of them.
Last purchase was a bag of minstrels. Well, I say purchase, useful things these sweetie shop keys!

Went to town during my lunch hour for a Birthday card, came back with the card, a top, a skirt, some black ribbon and very nearly some more shoes but I held back, very proud of myself :up:
The next thing I will be buying is a picture frame for a photo of Michael in his MLUKFC top...which is about the right size for me! :lmao:

Andy drinks coke??????????
LMAO! He does, but that was most definitely for me, I'd rather dehydrate than drink lager.
Couldn't believe that the bars at MEN don't do spirits! Doesn't bother me that much as I don't drink a lot of alcohol anyway, but it was lager, cider or alco-pops - hence coke!

Never mentioned that on the tickets, mumble mumble groan moan
Nope - one lager, one cider and one beer, and two vodka alco-pops...I guess they're more refreshment stands than proper bars...
