That sounds really great!!! can't wait. Still the best album.

But does anyone knows this.... couple of years back i saw the Bat 2 album, but is has a black and white cover and it contains all the songs, but live. It was also a live album as far as i can remember. Is this the same album... ?? And does anyone knows more about it?

But lookin gforward to this one too!!!

Not sure if you misread there, I meant it WON'T be the MOS recordings and IS the LATW live recordings. EMI/Virgin own the Bat 2 recordings, LATW recordings and the video rights.

EMI/Virgin own the Bat 2 recordings, LATW recordings and the video rights.

LATW is released on Tommy Boy Records, and unless Wikipedia is wrong, they're not part of EMI.

21 Oct 2006, 14:47
I think the live recordings could be from the Bat 2 era, or maybe the WTTN era, possibly the one's from Live Around the World. They won't be from MSO recordings, as icwuke said earlier, these are owned by Universal, not Virgin, so they can't include them, unless alot of money has exchanged hands. But my bet is the Bat 2 era, Everything Louder Tour, as some songs live from this era were used as B-sides, for Bat 2 singles, if I ain't mistaken. :D

Jayd
21 Oct 2006, 14:51
LATW is released on Tommy Boy Records, and unless Wikipedia is wrong, they're not part of EMI.

I think Tommy Boy Records just licensed Meat's recordings from his Virgin time, so possibly, Virgin could still have rights to use these recordings, depends what clauses, were put in place. :D

See 'Heaven Can Wait - The Best Of Meat Loaf' - Thats the EMI/Virgin 'best of'.

Its the LATW tracks on the second disk :)

Or alternatively, you could say it's the WTTN B-sides.

Anyway, if the second disc is made up of previously released material, it would be a missed opportunity.

Its the cheap and easy thing to do, thats the point of re-issues. Its not a big re-issue of the album, just something to jump on the back of Bat 3. Much in the same way as the Bat 1 special edition and VBO.

Oh I didn't misread anything. The LATW recordings is exactly what I wanted, I've never owned that album. ;) That and I hate when releases mix and match material from different eras when they really shouldn't.

Can you tell if the DVD is playable in the USA?

If you mean on a DVD player connected to a TV, then yes if the player is "Multi-Region". Most players can be made multi-region by going through some weird process of hitting the right buttons on the remote control and turning the machine off and on at the right point. Just google for "multi region hack" and the model number of the player to find out how.

If you mean on a PC, you can switch the DVD drive from region 1 (USA/Canada) to region 2 (Europe) to play the DVD, then switch back afterwards. The DVD playback software will prompt you to do it. HOWEVER you are limited usually to 5 region changes and after that you're stuck. If you end up in (say) region 2 and almost all of your DVDs are region 1, you may regard this as sub-optimal ...

... so what I recommend instead is purchasing some software that allows you to play DVDs from any region without using up your 5 changeovers. I use "DVD Region Free Lite" which works quite nicely, but there are others.

Odd! I had to get it on ITunes - it is Bat II and it is released November 27th 2006....if you have ITunes, go to the Nederlands store, and search for it. You can play 30 second clips of the songs, and some of them are 100% definitely from the DVD.

bought it yesterday, itīs really a good buy!
Itīs a digipak with a transparent slipcase.

If Iīm not wrong, the stereo channels sound a bit different to the original and the instruments are more clear IMO.

The live CD is great too, very good version of BOOH, faster than most of the other versions. The live cd alone would be worth the price.

Good to have the bat2 videos finally on DVD:))
Only thing I wondered about was that the DVD with videos and interviews was PG14!

Hmmm didn't notice that the DVD in the copy I got was rated ... have to check that! Great having the video's in such perfect quality though isn't it? The re-issue of Bat II and the recent shows have really made me fall in love with Objects again as a song.

Haven't got round to listening to the actual Bat II album yet, so can't comment on if it sounds any better, but the live versions fo the songs sound superb to me too.

Not entirely sure if the UK version is rated too, but my copy got the German rating system FSK 14, think that might be specific for every country.

Still wondered though 'cause I cant really understand it.

PS: listening to all revved up atm, REALLY a great version! very different from the other versions I know, much storytelling in it. :))

It's a shame they couldn't have compiled a "Bat II Live" CD as well.... though I guess there arn't live versions of "It Just Won't Quit", "Lost Boys And Golden Girls" or "Back Into Hell" to use are there?

If you buy the album on UK iTunes, you get all the tracks from the two audio discs, plus live versions of Lemon, Rock & Roll Dreams, Frying Pan, Everything Louder, and the single edit of Objects.

Maybe because guns feature twice, once in anything for love and the other in rock n roll dreams?

I could be wrong,i always thought music videos were exempt from being classified.

Oh, I've just seen LBAGG was in fact played in 1988.... on the "Lost Boys And Golden Girls Tour" funnily enough:D

I bought this one today.
I was in a CD-Store looking for Christmas presents for my family and I came to the conclusion that I had earned me a small present, too.
It really is great. I like the digipack and to have the Videos in decent quality is great too.
This live CD is one of the best I have. I think i like this versions of the songs even a bit more than the MSO one, but that may be because they are new to me.

Finally, I have bought it. Now I have 3 bat2 versions atm.

Am I right that the videos are longer? I mean, some scenes, I can't remember to have seen them on the video clips on youtube (for example:cool:). I love these videos! So epic. Shame on the present music videos!;)

In the booklet has been written, that cd1 and cd2 was remastered.

EDIT: Lol, my MS media player recongnise the disc as the discs from the deluxe version.

Shame on them, because after setting it right, I don't have a cover of bat2 on the media player
anymore:evil:

EDIT2: There are credits for "special edition" artwork. But I cant find any new artwork. What do they mean?
