View Full Version : Very Best Of Meat Loaf - To Be Re-Issued
No shock here really, it did well during the release of CHSIB and reached number 18 in the chart I believe with CHSIB hitting 4.
Anyway, 30th October, VBO is being re-released by Sony with the same track listing as the 2003 release.
So at the moment we're getting...
16th October IACBTMN
23rd October BOOH3
30th October BOOH CD/DVD
30th October VBO
I'll update if I find out about any more re-issues. :o)
Not a Re-re-release? I mean first was the 1CD version, than a 2CD version and now the this version;)

my thoughts too
Huh? There was a 1 CD Version? "The Very Best Of Meat Loaf" was always a 2 CD version as far as I was aware - they just released the same songs in a different order to co-incide with the CHSIB release. Am I missing something here, or are you both eluding towards Hits Out Of Hell or some Bat references I'm not not seeing (I could be described as "Blind As A Bat!").

 There have been a few compilations now with the name the best of Meat Loaf, but The Very Best Of Meat Loaf has always been a disc deal.
Those have always been 'the best of meat loaf on whatever label'. VBO is the only official 'best of' release.
Thats why you get live versions of Bat Out Of Hell on most 'best ofs' as they own a live version of the Bat song and you couldn't have a Meat 'best of' without Bat. Sony's Hits Out Of Hell being the clear exception.
hope that clears a few things up.

the VBO is a very good starter compilation, with all important Meat songs you have to know. I think itīll sell very good together with Bat3. People will listen to that album and want to hear more of his work.
Yeah, there are a hell of a lot of compilations, way beyond count now I think. Just thought I'd missed a copy of the official VBO (btw, Neil, you wanted to write "but The Very Best Of Meat Loaf has always been a TWO disc deal." I think ;)

 The man's a phyco, I mean, Phycic
:lmao:
So, even down to the cover art and photos, is this album going to be the same?
I guess I'm really asking if I need to buy this version or not!!!

Come on you know you want to Luce. LOL
Probably a different order of tracks - if that, I'd be very suprised if there were any different tracks at all (despite the fact you'll have them all already).
So no Lucy, save your pennies for the RAH and getting me a drink! :D

I'll not be buying it, waste of money if you ask me, but since you didn't ask me I'm telling ya, it's a waste of money. Most people have all the songs and can put them to a CD in any order they want to.
Pud
They may do it as a special release like the black velvety one they did when it came out before the Very best of tour.

That's a promotional item that was never generally released.
Well I can't remember where and when I bought it but it was in a shop

Could be a mistake of mine. Just the found a internet site, where the tracks listed as continued, I mean track 1-18 and not 2 cds:oops:
But looking to amazon.de this would be the 4th release:
1998:http://www.amazon.de/Very-Best-Meat-Loaf/dp/B0000242X4/sr=8-5/qid=1159263041/ref=sr_1_5/303-3460499-4348252?ie=UTF8&s=music

I have the 2003er but in my booklet are twice the lyrics of objects!:sherlock:
Track Listing (http://www.townsend-records.co.uk/product.php?pId=1088581&pType=music)
Its exactly the same as the 2003 Sony release. I've changed the release date on our site because we already have this item in stock as I got our big boss to buy in lots of copies of VBO and BOOH :D I've got rid of about 6 BOOH's in the last few weeks :D
The velvet VBO is definately promo - and if you did buy it in a shop Deb, you are almost as lucky as the guy on ebay that found TMIL in a local charity sale... :O
I don't think I own 18 Meat Loaf songs that will actually all fit onto one CD!! :O So I'm pretty sure it'll be 2 CD's even with the 18 tracks.
SEE ABOVE!!!!! Does anyone pay any attention around here?!?! :op

Why the hell did they put "Nocturnal Pleasure" at the end of disc 2 ?! Isn't that just a bit bizar?
I much prefer the 98 tracklisting, it makes more sense.

 Agreed.
Although they are completly different tracks, I only thing Nocturnal Pleasure works to it's full potential as a lead up to Dead Ringer For Love.
