I love this album, was the first Meat album I became quite well versed with when I was a kid. Always had a soft spot for it.

And I love the cover, big time. Always loved the cover and the booklet (even tho the painting on the back is stretched to fit the slightly rectangular format of the back of a CD case, that always slightly annoyed me...)

ANYWAY, what I was going to say was this: Is it just me, or does the typography on the front cover of the UK / Australian (and European?) pressing of the album, that adds a "u" to the spelling of "Neighborhood", realy suck compared to the American version??

I don't expect to get many responses to this thread  cause not many people are as visually anal about these things as I am, but I really love the typography on the american version, with the "welcome" made to look as if it has come off a welcome mat or something, and it balances out the entire cover image really well in position and colour.

By contrast, the UK / Australian one looks dodgy, with the colours and style being identical to the "I'd Lie for You" logotype in the booklet, and it doesn't work anywhere NEAR as harmoniously.

I've decided I can't take it any longer and I'm going to order the American version from Amazon.com and make that the main copy in my collection  .

Ha... so it's come to this. Hope it doesn't take too long to get here.

:D

Yeah it was hard to finally decide which was the lesser evil - the poor design or the stupid american spelling.

I covered both bases and got the two copies to be doubly sure! So you're not the only anal one.

Oh I knew someone somewhere must have preferred that spelling. I guess it's logical enough that the Americans prefer the American spelling... :sherlock:  I see how that works.

And as Rockette says (glad to know I'm not the only one ;) ) It's the way Meat spells it in his native vernacular... so that was a swaying point in my argument with myself about whether it was worth buying both copies.

Can we just clear up the fact that the American's are using our language, therefore it is our spelling that is correct. Thank you. :)

And I ain't in it for the english , and I ain't in it for the maths
I ain't in it for the glory of spelling anything at all
And I sure ain't in it for the grades
But I'm in it till it's over and I just can't stop
If you wanna get it done, you gotta spell it yourself
And I like my spelling like I like my life
Everything spelt better than everything else,Everything spelt better than everything else

My feelings for this album resemble the same colour as the front-cover.

No, sea-sick

Is that a PMS value? I've not heard of it?

Because I'm feeling whimsical... I'll explain my lame attempt at humour in order to fend off people thinking I'm spouting gibberish.

No wait... too long to explain, Its a graphic design reference. A bad one, but hey, I've been designing crap I don't like for people I've barely met all day. It gets to you eventually.
