Current confirmed figures are 100 injured and 8 fatalities. (BBC)

According to sources, the BBC are currently translating a statement from Al Queda Europe claiming responsibility (confirmed by Bloomberg NY office).

There is still unknown casualties in the tube network between Kings Corss and Russell Sq where a train was trapped in a tunnel. (confirmed by Brother in law who is at Russell Sq).

Unconfirmed reports coming in of suspect packages being found at Brighton Sq station and outside the Home Office (Whitehall).

Blair is flying back to London and G8 leaders preapring to be evacuated to offshore locations (probably USS Saipan which is off the Scottish coast).

If you are trying to contact anyone in London, please be aware that the mobile networks have been comandeered for emergency use only. The BT Network is still functioning at approx 65% capacity. Scotland Yard will be launching an emergency phone number in the next 20 minutes for finding out about casualties. Any registered blood donors, expect an appeal message in the next two hours.

I will update as and when i hear more info.

UPDATE 1: Controlled explosions confirmed at Marble Arch and Liverpool St station.

UPDATE 2: Translation of statement is done - It came through Der Speigel in Germany and contains the correct code phrases for noting it as a genuine statement.

Chris
07 Jul 2005, 13:46
UPDATE 3: Anyone travelling through Birmingham and leeds expect severe delays to all journeys - increased security levels delaying all routes in and out.

Anyone in Leeds city centre, the siege at HSBC Headingley in NOT, i repeat NOT connected to other events.

Just received a text from FallenAngel 1000, and she's now with SultonFan, safe and sound....... what a relief!

My heartfelt thanks go out to SultonFan for stepping in and helping - FA was on her way to stay with me before the Leeds Castle concert, but now she's going to stay with SultonFan.

I'm so very proud to have such caring friends during an hour of need, especially when such wickedness has walked this earth today.

This was written on a website claiming that they will bomb england and other countries. It's been translated and is on bbc. I felt physically sick as i read it.

"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.

Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.

We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid.

We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.

God says: "You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly." "

This country will not be intimated by these people.

Our thoughts are with the relatives of those killled and injured.

The way we all travel around now means it could have been any one of us - take each day as it comes, enjoy your life.

Keep rockin'.

Britain will still continue to do things the way it always has. Thanks to our friends all over the world for messages of support.

God, you just can't believe it, can you? :( Coinciding with G8, and what a way to bring a country down after getting the olympics.
Looks like I got in touch with my brother via text just in time. He wasn't affected, thank God, but he may have to stay in London overnight. Remember the fire at King's Cross all those years ago? He was meant to be on that train, but that night for some reason he didn't go for that one!

Anyway, just hope the ******s realise they're actually going against what their 'god' wants by carrying out all these atrocities  Prayers for those affected by it.

They think that it is some amazing accomplishment intentionally destroying innocent lives and families. I think it is the worst thing you can do while you are on this planet...

The best thing you can do in life is make someone very happy. If you can do that you will live forever and never be forgotten. :-)

I made it into the office today (I work near Covent Garden) but some people at work couldn't get in. They're all okay but some were near the explosions.

My office closed early and thankfully they'd opened my train line or I was facing a two hour walk to the home of someone who could give me a lift. Just as I was about to leave we received a spate of e-mails saying that people knew relatives who worked for the police and they were warning us to stay put as they thought there were loads more bombs. We realised that this was a hoax (it was several hours after the bombs went off) but that made people more nervous.

Other than publicity, I don't know what the terrorists hope to achieve by this. It's sad to think that these 33+ people just got up this morning for a day at work and then this happens....

Btw I've heard from Diane and the trains from Gatwick are running okay so she can get to her hotel okay.

Apparently the Blue concert at Wembley has been cancelled and they haven't decided yet about Queen in Hyde Park.

I was at work today when I heard what had happened, I am a train driver at Manchester Victoria and this station had British Transport Police, with sniffer dogs, checking out the station, and just seeing this had me worried, so I can't imagine, what those people, were going through. I would just like to praise the Drivers, of the trains nearby to the explosions who helped evacuate passengers off the targeted trains, it's hard evacuating a busy train at ground level, couldn't imagine what it is like underground, going off what I heard on the news, these drivers did a good job. Also to praise the emergency services. All our prayers are with you all in London.

I missed most of this, this morning. Was at work... at 11.30 heard about it. My god... this is horrible. Think there are no words for these actions.

Think no one could ever kill in name of piece or a god, religion or opinion. This is just to weak for words.

Wish all the strength and luck to the people who lost familly!

The Butcher.

You're right Emily humans are sick the one more then the other and the problems is that the sick ones are so easy to manipulate by the sickest. My thoughts are also with the people involved I wish them all the strenght and comfort they need, and hope that the 'terrorists' are caught and punished in the same way they made there victims suffer.

well i dont live to far from london just a train journey. but me and ja are both fine. we were at school safe. however i have to say many people were in tears at school and this has had a huge impact on us just as it has for all of us. many freinds have relatives and freinds that work in london and i have been worrying about it but what i have heard everyone is ok. i realy dont know what to say. makes me go cold inside. and i was in liverpool street not too long ago. we must all consider ourselves lucky. it just shows how these horible things can nappen so unexpectacly. i hope everyone is ok and so is there freinds and family.

take care guys.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved.... But aren't we all in fact involved? These events attack our feelings of safety....

Let's find hope in these words of a very much loved person around here...

"There's one word... there's one word in the English language that will destroy... it will destroy everything you've ever dreamed off, everything you've ever hoped for... and everything that you wish to come true... and that word is... fear. But there's one word that'll fears ass every time... and that word is love. And I know sometimes it feels like love is a real long way away... but it's never far... it's always within reach... and all you gotta do is reach out... turn it on... turn it up ALL the way and just let all your rock n roll dreams come through..."

I think it's simply awful.

My partner and I were in Birmingham on Saturday night when thousands of people were evacuated from the city centre under bomb alert. Thankfully it turned out to be a false alarm but that honestly was one of the most frightening experiences we've had, but when we got back to the house, rather than nervous or upset, I actually felt angry that some terribly small minded people have managed to frighten a nation of people into not being able to live our lives as we all have a right too.

Being back at my partner's house in Birmingham we were worried, waiting for the news etc, and it was a pretty awful few hours, so I turely cannot begin to imagine the extend of the upset endured by those who were in London last Thursday and my sincere condolances go out to all those involved.
