This is the START OUT OF HELL & ARRIVE TO HEAVEN topic.
Let's Go to Rock 'n' Roll!!!!!!!

Don't Leave Your Mak On Me (7)

Ooh! A dark symphony...
We know a lot of Jim Steinman song. We know his jokes in the songs. But when you are watching the film about Meat's life you can nouice that Jim's listening the voices of the wolfs. After I didn't understand his songs. He is wearing black dresses, he is listening dark voices after he is writing funny and morbid songs.
I think Don't Leave Your Mark On Me is his reality side. I like these dark and mystres songs. I know that this song isn't his, but come on Jim! Write some psyhically songs!
This music is nice, but to this lyrics is few. I'm missing more mysterious from the music.

(I don't understand every part of this song. I think it's a little bit too mystic...)

My score: 7

Average: 8.63 (69/8 )

 There seems to be a common theme running through the songs Bad Attitude,Modern Girl and Don't Leave Your Mark On Me about preasure to do what society thinks you should.
Don't Leave Your Mark On Me has got to be the darkest and the funniest. The guy is so afraid of commitment that the lyrics read like a nightmare.
I love the gothic mythology of this song.Angry demons  ,faces drawn in red and a jailor whose face you can't see,but you get the impression that to see it would drive you insane at one glance 8O .
8/10 This nightmare never ends.

A great vocal on a pedestrian song. Worth listening to just to hear the voice in fine form.
8/10

NO idea wat its about, but the haunting story, i sorta understand, is starting to scare me. :) In a good way, I love this song, his voice is excellent here, and it is truely sounding amazing. I love the music to this one, it goes great with the lyrics\vocals.

I give this a 10\10. Even that silent part, <there's a ghost in here somewhere> don't leave your mark on me!!! i like everything about it, I t is a 10 all the way!!

If you want to fully appreciate the dark, morbid aspect of this song I reccomend you do this:

Listen to it whilst lying in bed, alone with the lights off.

Then tell me that this song doesn't give you chills because I won't believe it.

I love it.

9/10

As a kid, the intro used to give me nightmares. I still don't like this song. It's spooky. 4/10.

It's a 10/10 for me.

An awesome song, and it's such a shame that Meat and John Parr don't work together anymore, he was one of the best writers that Meat has worked with away from Jim!

Haunting, nighmarish, this song grabs your soul, rips it out of your body and then stamps on all the pieces....

For a different 10/10 version of the song check out John Parrs own rendition on his solo albums!

John Parr's version is better. I don't think this song is great. I never listen too it. 6/10. Don't understand why some fans give it a 10/10. Is it on the same scale as BOOH or FCOL?

Bad Attitude is a very fine album. A little bit oldfashioned. Paul is slamming on the piano too loud and the overall production just misses a sensitive touch. Its very rough.

It's not on the same scale as BOOH or FCOL no, but it's like comparing Apples and Oranges in many ways - both are fruits, both are excellent fruits but they're different fruits as well.

A Ferrari 355 is a 10/10 car, but so is a Honda Civic Type R or a Mini Cooper S, but they all perfrom and drive differently - that doesn't make each of them less of a car does it?

The same can be said (in my opinion) of Don't Leave Your Mark On Me, personally I think it's a great song, powerful and haunting, but in a different powerful and haunting way than FCOL.

Yes, but as I understand the whole rating business over here, I figured it was sorta the point of rating was to rate an individual song against the whole of Meat's back-catalogue, and do so in a more or less "objective / rational" way...
So again, is "Don't Leave You Mark On Me" on the same level as FCOL or BOOH? To me, it certainly isn't.

That's exactly the point I'm making.. to me it is as good as FCOL or BOOH or Did I Say That, it's different yes, but as good as.

I personally don't like John Parr's version of this song. It just doesn't sound right to me. I gave it a lot of listens, but it don't fit, that's why meat's is a 10, and Parr's is a 4  and that's being TOO kind.
