View Full Version : Dance of the vampires
I've just bought the cd from this musical. And it's really good!! Typical Steinman.
Most of the songs (Steinman has written for Bonnie Tyler and Meat Loaf), or parts of it, are also recycled  But the lyrics are different. There is a song, which is Objects in the rear view mirror, but with other lyrics. Very funny to hear, cause you expect something else.
But has anyone seen this musical? I'm very curious about it, and would love to see it. I know that there is a German verion of it, but (as usuall the translated it) but is there somewhere else in Europe a English version of it? Or is it only in the States?? Maybe in the future in will apear on DVD, let's hope so!!

MC destroyed Von Krolock, because Von Krolock was very much like the PHANTOM. Crawford was determined not to do another show like the PHANTOM, so he made the character more comical and 'farce'.
Ultimately his decision cost the 'calibre' of the show...
Wow, very funny. I do think that you have seen it many times. Was it a great production? I've heard the music, and i think that it was! Very curious about it.

You can't even begin to imagine how brilliant D.O.T.V. was...
It's very hard to describe the experience, but believe me, It was fun!
It was cool hearing those old Steinman classics in a new form.
At the start, when they do the new version of THE STORM, mist would flow in abundance, and these wolves would howl. It was the image of an epic journey - snow, shadows and red-eyed wolves.
The greatest parts were: CARPE NOCTEM
DANCE HALL and TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEART.
TEOTH took place in this gothic hall, with paintings of the vampire-ancestors. They were LIVING paintings, that moved about!
I haven't seen DOTV-BROADWAY, but judging by the CD
(Next to the standards of the German version) it's lacking.
I really want to see the Japanese production...
THAT and BATMAN:THE MUSICAL.
A Japanese version of DOTV??? How will that sound? I think it will be very funny!
But Batman the musical.....OMG, that is terrible i think. A musical is something, well, don't know how to say that right, but you will have to look up to it i think. It is a special thing. That combination that is magical, music and play. So you can't make of everything a musical. That would ruining it all!
I would love to see an old Shakespear Musical, in that old english, and that even the woman are played by man! That would be cool!

In case you didn't know already, BATMAN is Jim Steinman's next musical. Music & Lyrics are by Steinman, book by David Ives, and direction by Tim Burton.
Great. Does he also use BOOH for the new musical?

BAT OUT OF HELL might be used in the new Broadway production of NEVERLAND. Any more questions on DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES?

Next songs will be there:
Bat Out Of Hell
Gotham Overture
Rhyme Or Reason
I'll Decorate The City With Ribbons Of Blood
Peel Out
Gotham City
The Victimless Crime
Faster Than The Speed of Night
Tragedy Averted
BAtman a Steinman production.........well, okay...euh.... don't know what to say actually. :?
Bit strange. But mabye, there are songs in it for Bat 3.
Steinman should stop this whole musical thing! What the hell is he doing? He should write albums! All this ANdrew Lloyd Webber Crap! He does not need him he can do it all by himself. Through the years Steinman did not use is talent in the best way. he fragmented his talent. To much energy he puts in many projects. it's all wrong. Same thing with Streets of fire. 2 excellent songs almost forgotten now. why he didn'tt use is it for an album like Pandora's box or BOOH 2. Meat wrote in his book that STeinman never could deside what to do. Well, meat is right about that.

Jim started his career writing musicals!
Jim started his career writing musicals!
Yeah, and Meat Loaf started by acting, but we know where the true talent in these men lie!
*wink*
Wow, bart, every time I see an answer of you i'm shocked
A lot of Steinman songs, that ML performe are from musicals. See The Dream Engine. Some songs are beauties, written by Steiman for that "new rock musical" and now they are still here. Timeless.
So think that when Steinman is writing a new musical, we can be sure that ML will do some songs of it. Or am i wrong here?
In that case, it is okay that Steiman is doing that. And ML must go on with his singing but also with his acting. He is always great in movies!!
i know that he writes rockopera for so many years. and i know plays like dream engine en mtyd. but i meant that he uses his talented for too many things. o god, i just can't say it right in English at this moment, but i hope you understand what i mean (hij versplintert zijn talent in plaats van al zijn kracht in 1 ding te bundelen).
Meat wrote in his book that on 1 particular moment he decided he wanted to be a singer instead of an actor. That was when Jim wrote BOOH. Jim writes an opere every now and then, put a song here and put another song there, producing stupid popgroups (take that) and other crap.
All songs he has written are based on musical. Like you see, the new musical has many already written song, like BOOH, FTTSON and Peel Out.
Is the musical BATMAN ready?
