It depends on the sixth formers and whether you can keep them in line. Probably a no.

Any book recomendations?

Chris
01 Aug 2005, 19:49
If you fancy a bit of a surreal read try anything by Jasper Ffordes. He writes fantasy about the BookWorld and what the characters get up to when they aren;t being observed by a reader. I can't remember the order of the books but i think the first pone might be the Erye Affair.

Failing that Christopher Brookmyres has some good books out at the moment (especially All Fun And Games Until Somebody loses An Eye).

Thriller - the new Jeffrey Deaver book is quite good.
Psychological thriller - try Stephen King's "Gerald's Game"

For a light hearted read try either Gervase Phinn who writes about life as a schools inspector in the Yorkshire Dales. Or I have to reccommend one of the best authors I have ever read Deric Longden. He lives a couple of miles away from me and writes about life in huddersfield and keeping cats with his blind wife. Try either "The Cat Who Came In From the Cold" or "I'm A Stranger Here Myself" I would defy anyone to read them and not suddenly swap from laughing hysterically as Thermal finds a friendly raisin called ralph to crying your eytes out when Frink slips away :(

Q. Will i get a reduction in my tax bill for calling the VAT inspector gorgeous??

Q: What kind of outfit should I wear to my daughters wedding in October?
If it goes ahead that is!!

Chris
10 Aug 2005, 22:31
Well, the brides mother sets precedent so wear something bright. Also etiquette dictates that the brides mother leads whether guests keep hats on or off. So, if you wear a small feather type arrangement, you can keep it on all day and make everyone in huge hats suffer all day!!!

Q. Did anyone else think lost was blooming good?

dottie
10 Aug 2005, 22:34
thanks Chris for that very informative post regarding hats, think I'll take your advice and make them suffer, sorry I digress......

Dunno didn't see it, been on here!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: Why do people always blame the goalie?? :?

tukayaway
18 Aug 2005, 16:32
Because last night the goalie was at fault for the first three goals. Ok, the defence might be at fault for not clearing the ball sooner, but the point is that the keeper could have quite easily stopped them.

Also, it doesn't help when David James is a poor keeper in the first place, the fact that he once played for Watford highlights this.

Paris is a beautiful place, but the prices in certain clothes and gift shops are beyond cheeky.

Is my daughter to young to go to a gig in London with a mate - she is 17

To tell the truth FA, it depends on which part of london she intends to go on...everyone going up for a night out always seem to be really friendly and helpful, so dont worry about the people, but If she plans to go to the Soho or North London area (e.g. Camden/islington), warn her about the weirdo minicab drivers that are a pain in the backside. And make sure theres adequate arrangements for transport as the night buses are beyond a joke and ive often found myself crashing round a friends place or walking for miles to find somewhere that isnt Leicester Square *it seems to have a giant magnet, pulling people back to it* Gawd ive gone on there...sorry if all that stuff sounds bossy, but im 17 myself and although it is a lovely place, the nightlife areas are easy to get lost in. She'll have a great night out tho :D

KebLou
22 Aug 2005, 22:42
Heat, Not really sure. Looking out for someone who'd done some nasty things to me, but I still went out of my way to make sure they were always alright.

To Sharon, Chin ups, push ups. Or those Gimmicky things which you push together supposed to build up upper body strength. Something like: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3801&productId=161367&clickfrom=name there was another thing but I can't find it.
Also, Camden isn't that bad so long as you stick to the main part, just don't accept anything from strangers out of their coat pockets. I tend to stay away from Camden just because it's always full of people when I go, can't do the crowds.

Why is it so hard to write a personal statement? Why do they ask you to say why you want to study the subject you've chosen?

Hi Sharon

When you say you can't use your abs, do you mean you struggle lying down (can do effective exercises standing up tensing abs and moving upper body forward 2-3", holding and moving back) or abs in general? Even if you have back probs you should still be able to do abs if you lie down in the correct position (pelvic floor muscles tilted upwards, knees bent and hands touching ears out parallel to the floor) - you only have to move a couple of inches off the floor and back (and to each side) to get really toned if 20-40 done a coupla times a day....

Press ups are best for biceps AND triceps (plus carry a can of beans in each hand, upper arms hanging down straight with lower arms 90 degrees then straighten to ground) - you know the usual stuff.

I'll shut up now ;) :D
