Hey, did anyone know that Evanescence play Anything For Love live? When i went to see them Amy explained that the reason she got recognised as a singer was when she sang a certain song for her church choir. Just as she finished explaining, the piano for AFL started. It was amazing! Anyone else been to any concerts where they have covered Meat songs?

I thought that song was too good to be left uncovered
As long as I don't hear it and she doesn't put it out as a single with a dance disco beat and take it to #1 for 17 weeks, that's relatively OK by me :?

lmao! somehow i doubt that if she did do it on a single (which she wouldn't) then it wouldn't have a dance beat in the back.........they can't do.....it wouldn't work :P

I've heard a techno single of Anything For Love, it was awful!

Vocals are always awesome.

Heli, I'm sorry to say that I know of 3 of Jim's songs that have been put to a dance disco beat. I've only heard one, and it was awful.:
Nikki French did TEOTH this is the one I heard, I nearly threw up in my McDonalds lunch in Liverpool when it came on.
Apparently Making Love Out Of Nothing At All has had the disco beat treatment, don't know who committed this crime, tho.
Bonnie Tyler did TOOTAB to a disco drum beat. I do NOT want to hear this at all,
as well as that techno AFL mentioned.
Why though?!?! Why Jim's??????? It doesn't work!!!!!!!!!!! Those songs are sacred in their originality and are not meant for dance techno c***

Since we're talking about Evanessence, I heard this song by them and saw the video to them, and it was really good. Its a new video, I believe it was called, "Everybody's Fool." Then she had a little speech at the end of it, probably one of their best!

Bonnie Tyler did TOOTAB to a disco drum beat. I do NOT want to hear this at all,

That version was actually produced by Jim Steinman :)

But back on topic, I've seen Evanescence live one time, and I wasn't terribly impressed by them. I like the music a lot, but live they didn't do much for me.
And I didn't know thet played "Anything For Love" nowadays. Is that the whole song (or at least, some edited version), on just the intro?

If done correctly, a techno version (I'm talking about the German, minimalist, bleepy techno here) can be absolutely lucid and inspiring. Steinman songs don't work though, as without the overblown instrumentatin and production, they mean absolutely zip.

Whoopsie  My friend who told me about this version neglected to tell me that! Although I did think it would be a bit difficult for anyone to put that song to a disco drum beat, and a bit strange that someone else should have the idea of Bonnie Tyler doing that song, but if Jim Steinman did it then it does make a bit more sense :) My deepest sincerest apologies, Jim :) I still love all your work :D

As I understand it, the "Anything For Love" story is a bit of myth, propogated by the media. Depending on Amy's mood for the day when being interviewed she either takes it in good grace, or gets annoyed about it!

Personally, I'd love to hear her voice sing it.

Not sure about techno remixes of the original songs, but I have always liked Nikki French's version of Total Eclipse coz a) it's cool to dance to b) it's low enough that I can sing it on Karaoke (I can't sing Bonnie's version).

I'm open enough to listen to any remixes or remakes. I'll pass judgment on musicality and artistry after that...I don't need to be precious about my musical gods. They're big enough and ugly enough to stand up for themselves. :)

Did they also play the guitarsolo at the beginning?

(I can't sing Bonnie's version).

Yes, why is it in that stupidly high key? Grr. . .Damn your high voice Tyler!

Actually, IMO, Bonnie's isn't that high. The highest note that I can find from the sheet music is C, the one above middle. My problem with it is the keys it's in, from 4 flats to 4 sharps  It's murder to play on the piano, but seeing as I'm only an amateur........ :)

I'm an alto, and though C above middle isn't high high. it's a struggle for me. I can belt, but not at C!

the piano for AFL started.

Did they play the full song or just the intro, for entertainment purposes?
