View Full Version : Objects CD Single
Hi,
Does anybody remember an Objects... CD single that actually had a reflective mirror on the case?
I remember seeing one years ago when it was released and I didn't have the pocket money to get it and I regretted it ever since!
Does anyone have one they want to sell, or dose anyone even know if I remember correctly, or have I made it up?
You remember correctly. Has a flip cover front that has a sort of reflective mirror on the front like a cutout. UK catalogue number: VSCDX1492. you should be able to order it through any number of CD sites, I see it regular when I am brousing around. Sorry I don't have a double myself.

Thanks Anne, I will keep looking with that extra info :)
I Love OBJECTS!
I will look out for it for you, and myself.
Note to self, Look for 2 copies of OBJECT's single.

What does it mean Wild Car? Is it a faster version or what? And the acoustic version is a piano or an acoustic guitar version or what?

There are two different CD single "Objects" with the "skeleton":
The first how "evil nickname" wrote from the UK:
"Tracklisting:
01 - Objects In The Rear View Mirror... (Wild Car) [07:41]
02 - Roll Over Beethoven (live) [05:59]
03 - Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through (live) [06:44]
04 - Objects In the Rear View Mirror... (acoustic version) [05:57]"
and the second from Holland:
1. Objects... (Edit)
2. All Revved Up live
3. Two OUt Of Three Ain't Bad live
Hope that helps.

There is this promotional single with 4 different edits from Objects, and they were being named "Wild Bomb Edit", "Wild Car Edit"and some others. On this single, they put the "Wild Car Edit".
And the acoustic version is piano and vocals only.

Just edits.
Last fall I found the Objects w/mirror on eBay, but it was frosted really bad and would only half play. About a month later I got another one from a different seller and it was also frosted! - but it plays. I don't know if that's a coincidence or not.
I was outbid on the Roll Over Beethoven version and haven't seen it since :(

Interesting Kathy. My digi-pack copies of Objects and also Rock and Roll Dreams got a frosty coating on them too. I thought it was just me! My jewel case versions have always been fine. I don't know if it was a fault in the manufacture or if the card they used for the digi-pack wasn't acid free. This has never happened to any of my other CDs.
You should be able to solve the problem though. Try using a good CD cleaner (available from most record stores) and carefully clean the surface of the affected CD with a special CD cloth. It worked for me, but you might find the frosting comes back after a while so you may need to do it several times.
I did start cleaning mine as soon as I noticed the frosting. I can't say if any perminent damage would be done by leaving it there for a long time. I haven't cleaned them in a very long time now and I've just checked and they're perfect!
Best of luck,
:)
Diane
Thanks Diane - I will try that. I had been just a little afraid to do anything with them, because I keep reading that CD's and DVD's are not nearly so durable as was previously thought .
-Kathy
Nothing to lose really Kathy if they won't play properly or at all. I'd be interested to hear how you get on. :)
I remember all the claims they made about CDs being indestructible too when they were first introduced. Apparently you could use them as frisbees and clean them with scouring pads and they would still play perfectly! :lmao: In reality they need to be treated with the same respect you would give to records. Still, it was a good sales pitch!
Diane
Your audio cd shouldn't degenerate too much as long as you treat it with the care and respect it deserves (which means Will Young or Gareth Gates cds make perfect frisbees, coasters or ashtrays :lmao: ) as far as I know it'd CD-R's that have had the problems and some seem to be losing their contents after about 5 yrs.... time to get those rarities transferred to the hard disc!
Just to let you know I got my CD today and it is great!
That's great. Nice little addition to the collection, eh Badger!
