I've had an idea! I've recently been looking at the Testify Guitar Tab thread and I think it would be a really cool idea for all the talented (or not so talented in my case) musicians on this site to record their favourite Meat Loaf song.

I'm in the middle of setting up my own web space and I'd be more than happy to host any sound files that we create. It would be such a cool thing to do, we could have mini bio's, pictures and of course the songs we have recorded.

I would love to hear the variety of versions we could get together and they really don't have to be professionally recorded, I think most PCs and laptops have built in microphones - that would do the trick.

Let me know your thoughts, I do a fairly decent acoustic Heaven Can Wait so as soon as I get the site up I'll add my file so you can see what I'm on about. Maybe I can start a blog too?

Thats a good idea LP, I'm going to have some studio time straight after my exams, and I was going to record a couple of Meat songs, so I will send you a copy if you want or when its on my dads site I could send you a link and you could load it from that (if thats possible).

Great! Now I've got an incentive to get things up and running.

I'll start a Blog on this site as soon as it's ready.

Anyone else?

Wonderful idea Luke! Some of the KISS fans did something of the same sort (KAOL-KISS Army On Line) a few times to raise money for Alzheimer's research! Pretty neat project really -people from all over the world sent in tracks for the cds. http://www.musicareonline.org/

Although I really don't think anyone on here would honestly like to hear me sing....and I'm not quite good enough on drums to warrant a drum instrumental...I would gladly help with any cover art/graphics you might want though...

Cheers!

A load of Jim Steinman fans created a whole cd's worth (possibly even a double cd) of Jims material as a tribute about 18 months ago, I've not got the shortcut to where the files were uploaded on this PC but I'll try and dig it out from my old pc sometime, there were some great versions of some classics done!!

Not a problem. The person that runs the site Markus is a really cool guy and not a bad singer himself.

There's been stirrings and rumours of doing another one but hopefully this site LP gets up and running will solve that. I'm wondering if it's going to be just for Meat Loaf songs or for Steinman songs as well? i.e. Total Eclipse, Making Love, Faster Than The Speed Of Night etc etc.

If it gets off the ground over here then I'd imagine that it'd just be meat songs, maybe there's scope for the two communities to actually work together on something?

KebLou

That would be cool, if we could pull it off.

I've been working on the site most of the weekend and it's looking quite good (if I do say so myself). Lets have it open for the whole community and all it's related artists and songs, I'm having a non Meat Loaf section for my own stuff so if anyone wants to showcase their music they can!

As its going so well I'm hesitantly suggesting 1/05/04 as a launch date so feel free to send any sound files (I'll convert to mp3) to my email address, if that fails for whatever reason I'll change it to the new website address as soon as i have it.

How exciting!

There are quite a few sound recorders you can download and record using your PC. I've got NTrack and it does what I want it to do.

Can anyone else suggest?

What I normally do is record via my mini disc, then connect it to my PC, quality is ok.

That's a great idea. I'll contribute some of my recordings to the site if that's okay.

Thanks Luke. Keep us posted on the URL etc.

Update!

I've got the webspace and url sorted, this will be www.lukepower.co.uk and currently displays an under-construction banner (to the horror of all real webmasters).

I have set up 2 email addresses, the first is for general correspondence luke@luke.power.co.uk - I will change my mlukfc details to this soon too. The second address is for submitting sound files, it would be cool if you could send a small avatar sized picture and as many details about yourself and the song to add to the site, the mail address is submitmusic@lukepower.co.uk.

I'm looking into including a forum or guestbook to allow others to review and discuss the music files. Really trying for the 1st of May but if I keep messing things up like I have then it could be longer!

Better? Nicer?

Are snips like that really necessary?

Things like this are said on both Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman websites...and there is talk of why we don't get along.

Our Steinman album "Nothing But A Merciless Night" went well (found here: http://www.funkiland.de/merciless.htm). Jac said that Jim was speechless (rare event to say the least) when he got his copy. I think he said something like he was "thrilled and stunned and honored".

Main thing, it was a bit of fun. For people with no musical talent, people could record a music track, and let others put vocals to it. Others did stuff like Wasted Youth".

Nice gesture too.

:o Vocals taken off, oh surely they saved Patti's voice for CHSIB, so us guys could sing with her. Well nothing wrong with girls singing with her either. I'd like to duet Meat as well. Come on Big Boy  Dare to challenge RSG..........................................I've already seen the writing on the wall, Meat Loaf WINS, RSG puts on a battle, and loses 8O
