View Full Version : Least Favorite Meat Song...
Ok, so we've had everyone's favorite, but what about everyone's least favorite Meat song???
For me, hands down, it just has to be Martha. I don't dislike many Meat songs, but this one i just can't stand at all.
Do it isn't one of my fave's either - i think it's because it reminds me of the Huggies nappy adverts - DO IT!!! DO IT!!!! DO IT IN HUGGIES!!!!!!!!!!
Heat, honey :( me so sad.
Look below at my wee phrase :(
EXCUSE ME!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO...
this topic should be banned. dont ever EVER EVER slag off 'Do It' again....
hell hounds on your trail..boy!
emily and colleen xoxoxxooxox <---- for Meat, not you! :p

I wasn't slagging Do It off...just merely pointing out that i don't really likre the song very much.
Be a bit of a boring world if we all liked exactly the same thing, wouldn't it???
Now I get the feeling that this is going to be an emotive thread!! Remember people you don't scream when someone likes a sing more that they like your favourite song, so it might be worth not screaming when people like a song less than your favourite song ;)
For me, my least favourite at the moment is "Why Isn't That Enough"... that's not to say I don't like it, it's pleasant enough, good melody, ok lyrics but I know for a fact that if I had to list ALL of Meats songs in order of preference, the top spot and the bottom spot would be automatically filled.... it's the ones in the middle I'd struggle with!

I would say that I have to agree with Heat. It's not that I hate the song Martha, it just wouldn't be one of my most favorite picks.

Sorry, but Martha my least fav also
Live, Meat could come on and sing Mary Had A Little Lamb and I'd enjoy it :)
As far as CDs are concerned .. there's one or two on Midnight and on Blind that I'd probably say aren't ones I'm over-keen on .. but I love his voice, so I'd not fast forward past them :) Tend to skip Nocturnal Pleasures and the Wasted Youth speech on CD/tape

I completely agree with you there Caryl - just as long as he didn't sing Martha, i'd be happy...
NO NO NO NO ....... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bicker:

Ok Emily, i think we have established that you don't share my opinon about Do It or Andy K's opinion about Why Isn't that Enough, but it's just OUR opinions - doesn't nessacerilly make em right or wrong, it's just what WE PERSONALLY think.
I didn't start this thread to get your goat up over the fact that i don't much like one song, i started it to find out what people's least favorite Meat song's are. Because i was curious. PLEASE don't take it personally, eh???

I think my least favourite song is Do It. Enjoyed it at the concerts but not particularly on the CD. Wasn't too keen on Martha but I must confess that grew on me. So maybe eventually will come to like Do It.

Hmmm.....this is where i get shot.
sorry but my least favorte track has to be Paradise.
ever other song i like.
Mershup, would that be because Meat has done it so often that it's lost it's thrill for you, or is there another reason???

its not the content of this song or the fact that Meats done it so many time. the way he does it live is very funny. I just do not like the structure or the way he sings it. i feel this song is too long for what it is, i would not change the ending it just gets a bit repetative.
Mee
I know whay you mean, Mershup - i much prefer the live versions of Paradise to the 'plain' CD tracks. For me, the interaction is what Paradise is all about...
wow, "martha" is actually one of my favourites! to each their own i suppose.
my least favourite song is "do it", like many of you, but i'm also not keen on many of the songs on "midnight..." namely "priscilla". i always skip the spoken tracks, but i don't really consider them to be songs...
This one really is a "tin-hat post" but
I love martha and generally wander around work humming it most days!!!
Although there are no songs I dislike, the only song i regularly skip is BOOH 8O
Sorry folks but although it is a good song, i have heard it that many times over the years I am bored of the studio version although i love it live!!!!

Cheatin' In Your Dreams and Keep Driving are my worst without a doubt. I don't think I could ever enjoy them.
But my favourites depend on my mood. Does anyone else feel the same?
But my favourites depend on my mood. Does anyone else feel the same?
Definately. I seem to go through different phases where different songs appeal to me. Last month it was Louder - this month i'm really into Cheatin in Your Dreams - Just goes to show, eh, horses for courses???
I agree entirely.
I tend to find that I play albums (except for Neighbourhood which is always on in my car!!) according to my mood.
If I am in a working mood I will play something like Blind Before I stop which i cna listen to in the background, If I am ina singalong mood I will play Bat and so on...
Currently hooked on Bad Attitude
Hmm, well after plany of thought, from what I heard by Meat, almost everything, I would say, "A Man And A Woman." OKish song.
Mine have to be Priscilla and Never Can Be Too Sure About The Girl, not that I don't like them, just way bottom of my fave list.
Man and A Woman and Do It I hate.
Pretty interesting that the songs I never thought people would dislike - including some of my favourites - have appeared in this thread!! Aw well - a Meat Loaf fan never ceases to shock!!! :D
I started my reply to this almost 10 minutes ago and I can't think of one to put, because for me, each album and it's songs have a different mood and memory attached to them. Off the top of my head I would probably pick something like Execution Day or Man and a Woman - it just doesn't do anything for me - but equally, I bought that album on CD a couple of days after I first met Meat back in 1999 so the memories of that are kinda attached to it.
Welcome to the Crazy Land Of Lucy Loaf!!! :D
Razors edge, just doesnt do it for me.

I donīt like Masculine. Itīs so stupid.
Least favorite. hmm, I do not have a Midnite cd, just an album somewhere in the attic. I don't know any lyrics. And i don't have a recordplayer. So the album really sucks in my opinion. How many songs does it contain? 10? So, i hate 10 songs from the Mighty Loaf.
Not keen on 'Do It' lets put it that way

Most of the tracks on Blind Before I Stop really bite. "Man And A Woman", "Special Girl" and "Rock And Roll Hero" do absolutely nothing for me. Other than that, "You're Right, This Is Filler" and "Unsaid" are pretty high on my Least Favorites list too.

You're so right Carylb - nice to hear from you too - haven't been around so much lately?
And Dottie, it's nice to see you are allowed to use your own name :)
Anyway, I have to say that I skip ALL of Midnight, except the title track and Promised Land.
But I don't like the following songs either:
If This Is The Last Kiss - PASS THE SICK BUCKET!
You're Right, I Was Wrong (To ever sing this) - ok so he sounds good - of course he does, he's Meat Loaf. But PLEASE, NO MORE POP SONGS!!!!!! If I want pap I'll buy Westlife. Well, I won't. But you know what I mean.
Razor's Edge - What?
Anything sounds fantastic live though.
BUT, I love everything on BOOH, DR, BOOH2, 95% of CHSIB, 95% of WTTN, and Modern Girl is fantastic. The other songs on Bad Attitude would have been good without Boney M man producing (why ANYONE ever thought that would work anyway amazes me??!!) Not heard many from IGBBIS, but they sound pretty good.[/i]

Lots are saying they don't like Razor's Edge! Why? Do you hear that plus sound in Meat's voice? I think it's one of the best performing by Meat (maybe Stand By Me and BOOH (Live '87) are better. And this song is typical psychadelic rock song (on the line of Pink Floyd). A little bit progressive, a little bit alternative, a little bit... And the story is deep, you must mean a lot!!! Very lot! It's not a story, it's philosophy! Well, I like it, but what I don't like are the nexts:
1. Burning Down
2. 45 Seconds Of Ecstasy
3. A Man And A Woman
4. Special Girl
5. Do It! (It's an ambivalent song. It's so primitive, very very simple and not Meat-style, but sometimes I like it)
6. MATLAF songs (except Razor's Edge, Fallen Angel and Keep Driving, maybe Midnight)
7. You're Right and Last Kiss, Love You Out Loud and Amnesty Is Granted (these are same)

Frank Farian (the man behind not only Boney M, but also Milly Vanilli) produced Blind Before I Stop, and not Bad Atitude.

If "Masculine" was a person I'd shoot it. I think it has got to be the worst
thing he has ever recorded. There are also some great clunkers on
"Stoney and Meat Loaf". Whilst that album is packed with glittering jewels -
there are parts that made you heave in loathing. Alot of the stuff on WTTN didn't impress me either. I think that is a poor and hurried album and should not be remembered. But "Masculine" is the biggest of the bile. There's also a lot of stuff on MIDNIGHT as well, but we won't go there.
your right about WTTN: hurried. I got the same feeling. But also he recorded it, i think, during or right after the bat2 tour. And ofcourse Virgin wanted to put anything out real quickly. Even if Meat would have recorded crap, still it would sell millions.

There're (a few) songs I don't like, songs I like and songs I love BUT there's only one song I really really really can't stand to listen to.

2. 45 seconds of ecstasy. Too short no meat singing!
3. fiesta de las almas perdidas. (huh????) Wheres the words? Whats it doing on his album????

I've a few:
Where Angels Sing
Because it's drivel.
It was just slung together as a nice ending to a rushed concept album. It's so unfeeling. I end WTTN at Martha.
Nowhere Fast
Steinman throwaway. With good reason.
I heard BBIS and MATLAF and relised that 70% of it was filler. No thanks.
CHIB never much appeals to me either.
(I'm gunna get stoned for this. . .)
The best thing on it is the intermezzo.

Yes, here's a stone! *throws a big heavy boulder*
Intermezzo is most definatly not the best thing on CHSIB. I thinks it is marginally better than "You're Right, This Song Stinks", which I rank as the worst, way behind the silence between "Forever Young" and "Mercury Blues"

Most songs from BBIS are not as good on the album, but the ones I heard live are great! MATLAF, a very very poor record. Quite frankly if it were gone, I wouldn't miss it. I do listen to a few songs from it though, :?
I would miss BBIS, becuz I like 2 or 3 songs A lot on this one.
I agree with you. I would not miss MATLAF. BBIS I also think isn't his best album, but there are some great song on it, especially the live versions of it.
