For those of you who remember the problems with the propmotion of CHSIB.
I'm wondering what promotion we can expect for the new single MOS.
I have just found on Ebay a copy of the DJ promo for MOS, and seem to recall this happening with the DJ promo of CHSIB.
I hope some stations have the decency to actually play it and get it on air

One rather annoyed Sin
i think it is not going to be a hit. Sorry for Meat and shame on the bloody record company.

:( I really hope that it gets some airplay too, it really deserves to do well, especially after the disastrous CHSIB single release. but alas I fear the worst, especially if no video is being done as it will not even get played on the digital satelite/cable music channels (though CHSIB was only played on 1 anyway!)
When do you reckon they'll start playing it (if they do)? I'll be sure to keep my ears open anyway.
Like I keep saying... unless meat tells people to buy it when he's touring... it will totally flop. You simple CANNOT release a single without promotion, and no Music Video... well :'(

At least we ("we" being the people who read the forum) know when it is released. I didn't have a clue when CHSIB single was out, I just happened to come across it one day in virgin (the only place that was selling it in Cardiff at the time!) Don't know if the release of CHSIB single was mentioned on here though as I didn't have a PC at the time.
Yep, some promotion would help, airplay, Meat plugging it at the concerts and some shops actually stocking it would also be an improvement!
If ALL the people at ALL the UK concerts bought it, it would probably do well.

Unfortunately I don't think they will. Alot of people will already have the album and those who don't will probably want to buy the album after the concert rather than the single.
Unless you're a die hard Meat fan there's not really alot of point in having the album and the single. Yes, the single will be an edited version and will maybe have bonus tracks, but only the likes of us on this forum are going to be interested in buying both.

Saphire lady your rite!!!
Meat just needed to tell everyone to buy it when he's doing the shows and it has a chance... other than that, it might not even chart :|
Is anyone surprised that Did I say That is not his next single??
A great song and I could be wrong , but did it chart in Germany  ??
Only No18. Thats a great song. One of the best on the CD.
Well I think so anyway!!

According to this site, MOS will be released on Nov 17th! That's not much time for promotion! Hopefully this is just an early list, which has yet to be updated:

All I can say is that Meat has to do something about the record companies that are releasing the album/singles in Europe and the States!!
Here in the US, Sanctuary Records Released CHSIB, but don't even have Meat listed as an artist on their website!!
I'm curious though, and please bear with me for being dumb, but who actually decides which record company will release an album/single? I've heard that the delay in releasing CHSIB here was due to a change in record companies.

yes i agree i to was suprised that Did i say that was not going
to be the next single as it appears to be such a strong song,
but man of steel is a really nice song to, but i think they should of
gone with the other, but there you go, this is the way of things
some times i suppose when you are faced with so many good songs
it is awkward to choose.

Ok - all points taken but I didn't start this thread to debate the merits or MOS against any other song............
I am soooo peed off that those who i assume get paid for organising the promotion of the releases appear to do very little for their money. And to add insult to injury we all know that the best way to get any recording brought by Jo Public is to get it out there and get it heard.................. ....
so the radio stations are sent free of charge, i assume, gratis a copy of the single to get it played and heard over the airways and then what happens...................the f***ing things end up on ebay................
no airplay = limited sales = another frace = Sin really really mad with all the bloody promoters

I know what you mean Debbi ... it's absolutely ridiculous :(
You're right ... from what I understand, they were originally supposed to release in the US sometime during the summer, and Meat would have
had more time to promote it before starting the first leg of the US tour.
But then he changed record companies and signed with Sanctuary, which didn't release the album until the end of September. The bad timing was really a shame ...... maybe they'll re-release it when he comes back to the US again next year ??

I was in HMV today and looked at their "charts" list which had details of forthcoming releases at the bottom.
The Darkness' new single was listed with a release date of 15 December. No mention of Man of Steel which is being released before that. Is history repeating itself? Hmmmm.....

When waiting for the release of CHSIB I had the same thing kept going into HMV............not listed.................I hate to do a Victor Meldrew impression but..................... I don't believe IT!!!
However unfortunately I do................typical

Shocked, no. Surprised, no.
Just disappointed and dismayed at the lack (or should that be complete absence?) of promotion only 3 weeks before the proposed release date.
I had hoped that lessons would have been learned from the CHSIB fiasco. But I guess time will tell.

and mine and probably everyone on this forum, who well remembers the last 'promotion' if you can call it that :!:
saying that... I think 'Couldn't Have Said It Better' was Meats 13th highest ranking UK single ever... but we all know anything outside the top 10 is unacceptable.

:( Deb
It seens that YES history is once again repeating itself! Meat as a lot of us know was dropped from another label with another album previously. the one he did in the 80s didnt get in the US until MUCH later. Usually when changiing record companies it seems to keep a hold on what gets done or not done with the release of an album on that label(i.e singles or any such related).iIf I am not mistaken (and i could be) didnt he have trouble finding a label to take this cd, and also the title changes? It had taken as long to release this album as it had done other times before. I also wonder if because of his past (i.e bat out of hell) has it remained a reason for everything to be "kept on the back burner"?I ha dheard that vh1 is and the label or Meat are working out a deal in regards to any video airplay or release of for i believe the spring? I dont know about any of you but that to me makes NO sense these videos should have been released already or just before the release of the cd via the US. And what about the release date of the actual cd itself?? It took FOERVER TO GET HERE and the date was changed SEVERAL TIMES! Did this happen in other parts of the world as well??

If the DJ's don't want to play the single, then it's not their fault. . .
Mercury has never really had its act together as far as promotion goes.
And as for getting into the top 10, even with every major radio station and digital TV music channel playing this single, with the best promotion in the world. Four words: No chance in Hell.
Sad, but true.

 its just history repeating itself once again! For whatever reasons Meat cant seem to keeep himself on a label or he takes himself off of them or whatever. I dont understand and since I am not "in the business" I probably never will. I wonder, if it is the whole "Bat out of Hell" thing that scares these record companies from promoting or wanthing Meat on their label?
