Hi Meat, I've just read your posts about your throat not being in top form, so I just wanna say (and I'm sure I can speak for others here) that we love ya and are thinking about you especially at this time.

Do you remember posting on this forum earlier this year announcing that the NZ record company had got it wrong in their release of the album and would relaunch it along with Australia? I have called the record company several times since May and each time they deny that there is any relaunch plans. They also have no knowledge of any promo day, which you have earlier said would be on October 11th in New Zealand. Could you clear up what's happening in NZ please?

Universal NZ have done NO promo whatsoever for the album. The CHSIB single video has screened once on a new release music show, and there has been one newspaper review. That's it. Universal have simply stuck one or two copies in some stores and called that a release. It almost makes me cry sometimes. When I ask them why they have treated the album this way, they just say something like "It's just not an album we promote", and that they have no plans to promote it. They tell me that no one's requested it on the radio. Well, HOW THE ~~~~ DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT IT?? They seem to think sales come before promotion, but the cart does not come before the horse. The NZ record company have sabotaged the chances of CHSIB being successful here and I am angry at them (not you).

I've been thinking of doing promo of my own, and I'm currently working out how I should go about it. Any advice?

Hey shane ,
I met the girls from universal last night before I met Meat. And asked them for you They said that they were still working out details but meat is supposed to be there on the 10th or 11th. Hey we didnt see any real promos until wednesday when he arrived here then I ve seen it in the papers and even a Tv promo for the album. So shane dont dispear as its fans like us that need to push record companys for the promos and just like you I have been ringing up and pushing them I t will occur The album is yet to be a failure as its awseome content will stay strong. I will post about meeting him soon. I will also email you privatley.

Thank you very much Adam!!!!

When you say the Universal girls, do you mean girls from Universal Australia? I am surprised that they might know something about the NZ situation.

Universal in NZ continues to deny everything, but maybe I'll give them a call.

Can you keep an eye on the media there (newspapers, tv etc)? Meat made another post that he had a day of press ahead of him. I'm hoping that some of the Meat-related news will be found online.

Thanks Adam! I'm grateful for any information of any amount. I had no idea that there was a Universal Australasia. I might ring them back and get some info from them about NZ. Their contact in NZ was useless as far as information goes. Do you remember the names of the Universal people you spoke to? Perhaps I could call and ask for them.

Unfortunately a major radio network in NZ has said they would not play CHSIB if I sent them a copy.

~~~~ UNIVERSAL!
[...] UNIVERSAL!
That's ridiculous :angry:
Believe me Shane .. I understand how frustrating it is. I called my local radio station, and the DJ just laughed when I asked if they were going to play CHSIB :roll:
At least we have the Mexican Concert on tv here in the US ... but other than seeing the commercial for the CD a couple of times, I haven't seen any other promotion :(
The lack of communication is very frustrating .. and I just wish there was more we could do to help in both the U.S. and New Zealand.
Reading this is giving me flashbacks to the UK release!
Sounds like there was a bit more promotion for our release as Meat was on quite a few TV & radio shows, but there was confusion over the actual release date of the album. I only ever heard CHSIB played on one radio station & only one music channel on TV was playing it :evil: (What is even more annoying is that it was their second most requested song one week & the next week they removed it from their play list! 8O )
Also didn't have a clue when the single was out - went in Virgin Megastore one day & saw it & of course bought it straight away. I looked in the other record shops & NOT ONE other store had it! No wonder it only reached #35!
Anyway, I totally sympathise with your predicament.
Hi Meat, I have emailed 10th Street Entertainment (a few days ago) about the matters I have raised in my post at the top, because I am VERY concerned and I don't know what's going on or why. However, they have not responded. If you could tell me anything I would be grateful.
Meat,
Are you coming to NZ on the tour?
Just bumping this topic to the top.
I'll put my long post at the beginning in a much abbreviated form:
(1) Meat, why has Universal in New Zealand neglected you and the album?
(2) Are you coming to NZ next year to tour (even if it's just one show)?
The Australian version is now available in New Zealand, but nothing else has changed...
