I remember reading a few months ago that the 2nd UK single from the album would be released in November...

...well, now that month is rapidly aproaching, is there any news on another single and will it still be "Testify"?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think an exact date was mentioned but I think Mercury were infering that a release would be in conjunction with the UK leg of the tour.

fingers crossed

Germany are also due a new single too, perhaps thatll be soon as the German leg in only a while away. It was rumoured to be Because of You but in Meats interview with meatloaf.de he said Why Isnt That Enough was in contention as a third single.

Regards UK, hopefully it'll either be BOY DIST or Testify. Testify has to be my favourite though!!!

These all fantastic choices !!

I think Why Isn't That Enough would be perfect for Germany ... and Testify for the UK :)) You're probably right and they'll release them in time for the German and UK legs of the tour .....

All my family, friends, people at work, the man in the corner shop (only jokin, very bad attempt at humour) who have heard Testify say it is a EXCELLENT song. A lot say it is something different in the current music scene. I hope it is Testify and hope it does a lot better than CHSIB, with a little help from all of us on this site it should. Oh yeah, and a better promotion from Mercury. Come on Mercury Meat deserves only the best, a reward for all his hard work. :D

Think so too, Vicki...but there are just SO many great songs, hard to choose. And think DIST would make a great UK-release also.

...Just Love the album, Any single 'will be fine with me'.
Testify STILL feels special, but that is only IF I had to choose, which, in this case, is HARD

THESE posts always make me very happy, because this is what I have been experiencing (something is wrong with that spelling, but What?) too.
I have first heard Testify (and felt blessed, truly, on a promo) and eversince than 'felt' This was IT! Later thought, 'who am I' to say this is It?
So, if Meat/recordcompany choose another single, that's okay (GREAT songs 'all over the place'!)...but if it is going to be Testify :bunny: :bunny: :bunny: ...Kids Love it too (do NOT like ML!)

Great day to you,

I absolutely agree Mariella ... it's just too hard to choose :)
DIST would be great for the UK ... but I think Testify would be the perfect compliment to CHSIB. Besides I'd love to see him do another video :))

Yeah it's definitely a tough choice ......

Caryl, have you heard anything back from the mercury survey yet?

Have to disagree with you there Vicki. Why Isn't That Enough is one of the weaker songs on the album, I don't think it would be a good song to release. I'd like to see Testify, Love You Out Loud or Tear me down. Meat is known for his power ballads and I think one of those songs I mentioned would be good for him to release.

Have to disagree with you, Winston. Think Why isn't that enough, is one of the stronger tracks on the album. The emotion in Meat's vocals, well, to me is so REAL, makes it one of the stronger songs for me...

I'd have to disagree with you...I'd classify Why Isn't That Enough as a power ballad (although we could go on forever debating the definition) which is, as you say, something Meat is known for. I would be happy with it being a single, although I'd like Man Of Steel to be a single at some point too.

I wouldn't be surprised if DIST is a single (outside Germany of course) at some point, since a video has already been made for it, and given Meat's comments regarding the unlikely chances of another video being made.

I like WITE, but for me there are so many stronger songs on the album. Meats emotion especially towards the end is what makes the song for me, but id rather see LYOL or DIST or BOY or Testify released ahead of it.
For Meat to make an impact on the charts he needs to do something different especially to grab teenagers attention as they are the ones who buys singles. For me there are only 3 songs to do this:

1) Testify - i can see it grabbing ayounder audience as its so catchy and
2) Do it! - Although i have songs on the album i prefer over it, its short catchy and more geared towards todays music.
3) BOY - Dare i say it but its as close to pop as meat will go, guitars are excellent tho and i feel it could make an imapct again as its a little different.

But Love you out loud does rock!!!! Can't wait to hear that live on the Australian CD!!!!

That's what I meant Shane! I said Meat is know for his power ballads and WITE a power ballad. I would like to see him release something a bit more heavier. The 3 songs I mentioned are pretty good and one of them as a single would be deadly. Are we singing from the same song book here on this one?

Ok Winston, I see what you mean, although I don't think the "heaviness" of the song necessarily translates to more success. It might, but it might not. By heaviness, do you mean the heaviness of the instrumentation? If so, then Do It would make a good single based on that criterion, and I certainly wouldn't complain, but I'd expect many people would.

In my opinion, BOY is the weakest song on the album and it would be my last choice for a single.

I agree with Mariella about WITE ... the level of emotion that Meat brings to the song is absolutely amazing, and is a strong track (power ballad). However, I really like your idea about LYOL .... it's heavier and would probably attract a broader audience in either the UK or Germany :)

Heavy is just my figure of speech (typing!) I picked those songs because they are my personal favourites on the album. They are strong songs and could do well in the charts. BOY and You right i'm wrong are dreadful. Best keep them on the album!

Winston, thank you for being here...even though 'I didn't get your posts first'. But you make me laugh...

Great day to you,

Mariella

p.s. What concert are you going to?

Winston
30 Sep 2003, 00:31
Dublin & Belfast. Seen him in NJ a couple of weeks ago while I was on my own little tour over there. Shame the album hadn't been released then, would have made a difference to the concert.

"You're Right I Was Wrong" I didn't like at first, but it has grown on me (although it still ranks low for me compared to the other songs), but BOY hasn't. It seems like just another love song to me, which this world already has plenty of.

 I think the "logical" chice for the next single would be Did I Say That.Quite simply because there is already a promo video in existance  .With Meat working so hard on the tour I don't know where he'd find the time in the near future to shoot another vid.

The fact that it's a kick ass song is also a pretty good reason

Have to AGREE with you on YRIWW, will, most likely Never get 'the feel' of that song!...Just don't get it, what else can I say!
But that is the ONLY track on the album ' that doesn't hit home'!
I love CHSIB!

Know you will have a great time at these concerts, you know what...you just stay who you are, and I will do that too! And I DO think we 'are reading from the same book'! Sorry, I won't get to meet you, living in Holland and going only to Wembley...would have been nice!

Me too. DIST definitely gets my vote as the next UK single.

It's a very powerful, emotional song and has that distinctive Meat Loaf sound to it. If promoted properly (unlike CHSIB) it would do well in the charts.

I agree that DIST should be released as a single in UK at some point (so that I can record the video properly rather than watch it on the PC! & of course cos its a great song). But I'd also like to see MOS released as a single (but without the poem at the start, I don't think the youth of today would appreciate it! ). Feel free to disagree with me though!

Are they still releasing a 2nd CD single in Germany too ?

I really dont think that Testify will capture the UK publics imagination, not with the drivel that is in the charts at the moment. I think DIST has a much better chance, commercially, as it is more mainstream and therefore liable to catch the imagination of the kids that are into Pop Idol and Fame Academy.

I think Love You Out Loud will do well, but i reckon a sure fire bet would be on Because Of You. BOY is, IMHO the most mainstream of all the songs on CHSIB, and therefore, more likely to appeal to a wider audience over here.
