Someone who was at the Wolftrap concert in Vienna, VA has posted on the OIFC message board that Meat took a tumble off the stage. 8O The good news is that although he looked dazed (and who wouldn't!) he regained his composure and finished the concert pretty strong. Probably a good thing he's got some days now when he's not doing shows.

I remember the days when he used to throw himself bodily into the audience .. where were they the other night? And should we arrange for some tumble mats in front of the stage over here do you think .. or a bouncy castle? Or perhaps just willing female volunteers

Ouch! You know, I'm really sort of surprised that doesn't happen more often! When I saw ML last December in Clearwater, Florida he very nearly went off the front of the stage. He was loudly complaining to a local policeman about the lack of typical warm Florida weather when he suddenly said "Oh my goodness the stage ends there!". A half a step more and he would have been on the ground. I hope he doesn't have any painful bumps and bruises to show for this one.

Hey, we were at the Clearwater concert Sherrie .. and yes, I remember that! The energy with which Meat throws himself around and his total absorption in "the zone" makes me surprised he doesn't do this more often too.

I guess there will be a few places he normally takes for granted letting him know they're there today :( and I'd hate anyone to think I don't feel for him .. but I do believe he'll have taken this in his stride (even if on this occasion it was half a stride too far!) I think in retrospect he'll have seen some wry humour in it and I'd hate the story to be used by any of the glums as further evidence of frailty. The fact he got back on stage and finished the show quite strongly suggests he's still got more than it takes!

I was at the Vienna VA show last night, just got back (12 hour round trip). Meat did take what looked to be a nasty fall but once he settled down a moment, the band picked up exactly where they left off & he finished the show strong. In fact his voice actually seemed to be stronger after the fall than earlier in the show. The performance was very good though the audience was unfamiliar with half the songs and were quiet until they recognized something. CHSIB got a great reaction though, and Kasim's 3 song opener was also very well received. You could tell what a great guy Kas is just from that short performance & his interaction with the audience. Sadly, there was no meet & greet - those things never work out for me. Big Kudos to Meat for showing what a performer he truly is, he got back up & went on with the show as good as ever!! I think he was a little hurt understandably but apparently nothing serious thank God.

Can you recall a set list from Kas and Meat?

Pretty much the standard Meat set. Started with "Do It" in dayglow (muffled voice under mask), then "Lemon" "Mercury" "Tear Me Down" "All Revved Up" "Testify" "IDAFL" "CHSIB" "Took the Words" part of "I'd Lie For You" which Meat said was the first time this summer they had done it (???) but they didn't know it all, then "Bat" Paradise" and "Living in the USA". I am sure I forgot something & they are not completely in order. No "Love You Out Loud" but I think the unfamiliar songs really slowed down audience reaction so maybe that is why it was not done? Meat's voice got better as the show went along and he kind of jogged off stage so I don't think he was hurt too badly.

And of course "2 Out of 3" was in there. They started it then went to "I'd Lie" then back.

Pretty much the same set list since the tour started. Change the list Meat and stop doing a Bon Jovi.

I agree Sherrie .... during the show at the Mohegan Sun, Meat was giving a guy sitting up in the bleachers a hard time for not singing along with Took The Words  He walked over to the left hand side of the stage, and was ready to take another step when he realized he was right on the edge and said "the stage is tricky over here!" Like you say, a half step more and he would have been on the ground too.

I hope he doesn't have any bruises either ... and I was so glad to hear he was able to joke about it and finish the show :)
