I can't enjoy it. Rob Evan is singing.
this cover is so much better and does not make me cringe-
Markus Funk has the voice right for this song, not Rob Evans

Sorry but not a great song no matter who sings it. Sounds more like a work in progress
It's one of my favorite and I love the way Markus sings it. It reminds me of
how important it is to be Earnest.

Wasn't there a recording from the original low key shows that Dream Engine did. From memory that was for me the definitive version. Should have been on Bat 3. Would have much preferred that to almost unlistenable and forgettable rehashed tracks such as Seize the night / Future and If God could talk in my opinion.

i wasn't familiar with that song, but that rendition did nothing for me... definitely not hooked on it
We all know who needs to sing it!!!! :D

Again, can't help but wonder what a Steinman "Bat 3" would have been like, with this song, "Still the children", "Who needs the young?" and others, "Braver", "Not allowed to love", etc.

I believe he also wrote he envisioned the album to start with Cry to Heaven. Presumably the choir like in the demo he did for Batman would be included. I would have loved it to have been quite epic with orchestra or church style organ as like Home by now. Would have been awesome.
Whether he ever had songs such as Paradise Lost I don't know but they sounded great.

Beautiful song and beautiful performance, and Still the Children immediately after this is incredible as well. Rob Evans' voice is maybe a little too pretty for the lyrical content, but I don't find it detracts from the performance all that much. He still gets into it just as much as Meat might, it's more a matter of his tone being not quite appropriate. Awesome stuff, either way.
I'm kind of curious if it'll show up at the Total Eclipse thing next week, and if it does will it have the second verse ("deaths and sins on the altar of love" or whatever it was) that supposedly exists that was never performed.
