That's only for VIP service. Most casinos have it. People love that in LV.

Be interesting to see what the "VIP package" contains to make it worth £500+.

Is it Meat's vip or venue vip? Can't see it being his at that price...

So fans are in the wings and Meat's faced with people drinking, talking and ordering food in front of the stage...

You have got to be kidding me....really?

REALLY???

A "cheap seat" is going to cost $94.85 PLUS an additional tax that cannot be included in the display price! Yes, the prices on the Last At Bat Tour were high...but nothing like this.

I am very disappointed...but good luck with this endeavor. I just cannot afford it.

Last at bat tour tickets were normal price, if you compare them with other artist meats was cheaper

Not necessarily. I have seen a news item saying Rocktellz and Cocktails takes over from the stripper show in the Planet Hollywood Showroom. That has catwalks from the stage and puts VIP seating around those. This plan talks about "Gold Circle" rather than VIP, and TM lists VIP tickets, not Gold Circle, and the TM listings correspond exactly with the seating in Showroom

This is the Showroom plan:

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/Showroom_zps83e71575.gif

There is no indication of what the VIP seating includes, and one can only hope Meat is able to make his announcement soon to clarify things. The prices are high, yes. But I suspect largely the pricing is something not within Meat's control. TM listed these some days ago, and the VIP tickets were over $1000. Meat had the listings taken down. Until he confirms who knows that TM have them right now .. He also said at Nottingham that M&Gs would be on one night each week, and TM list the same ticket prices for every night.

Meat never focuses on the first few rows. In Storytellers he covered more than the first rows with the microphone, and sang to the entire theatre.

NOTHING Meat does is "shit" Chris

Prices are always high in Vegas especially for entertainment. For casinos VIP are usually high rollers or celebrities. What TM means? Who knows?

I saw Elton John in LV a few months ago and tickets were $100.00 for balcony. Same for Meat I guess.

I'll try for something on Friday. :-)

Very true. $95 for a Vegas show is pretty reasonable. FWIW, the venue looks tiny- even a "crap" seat is probably very good, unless one abslutely needs to be in the front row.

I wonder when/if they will release the whole list of artists? I'd be curious to see who else might be appearing.

Well yeah but then again if I was paying that kind of money I'd be expecting to get the best seats in front of the stage.

CarylB

Same difference. VIP seating is still at the front.

Yes, although I don't see how they're the same difference. The showroom layout makes it look as though (as Julie says) the venue is smaller, and it isn't the same at all .. a quite different layout, with seats in every section being listed on TM, so to say "High rollers front and centre" is a bit of a stretch imo, and the one I posted gives a more accurate picture of where the seats are.

High rollers getting the best seats are a standard practice in all casinos. Doesn't matter if it's LV or Indian casinos. Yes, some tickets are sold to the general public but the casinos reward their regular players generously.

CarylB

"Row" seems a big misleading actually as the VIP are a choice of table, banquette or row seating .. and even when you book a table seat you get a row number

So fans are in the wings and Meat's faced with people drinking, talking and ordering food in front of the stage...

 I think it'll be the casino.
Meat has been booked to play Vegas by the casino. That pretty much makes him an employee of the casino and hotel.
The casino pays the bills and the wages, so the casino can do pretty much what they like, and it wouldn't be good business to offer their own VIP package but allow their employee to offer an alternative (and probably better) package at a cheaper price.

The casino is only interested in the best interests of the casino, and with looking after the people who are going to spend a lot of money with them.
I think a lot of the tickets will be comped to high rollers, but even those who don't get comped, the prices will ensure that the best tickets will be available for the people who gone to Vegas with a suitcase full of money.

That might suck from a fans point of view, but Meat isn't in Vegas to perform for his fans, he's there as an attraction.

If its a storytellers type show meat focusses on the first few rows. great. not bothering with this shit

If it's a Storytellers type show, then the questions will naturally come from near the front (because A. it's more convenient and natural to talk to the people near you, and B. Because i'd be pretty pissed if I paid £500 for a ticket up front and Meat spent all night chatting to the folks at the back of the room. Casino no like pissed off high rollers) where folk are there because they spend a lot of money at the casino rather than have a intimate knowledge of Meat's work.
That being the case, I can't see the set list veering too far away from the classics.
Most of the high rollers (aka the very rich general public) will only likely have a working knowledge of the greatest hits rather than the more obscure album tracks and B sides.

mlukfc members should hire a table :)

I think we need to start a lottery pool first

I have felt so left out down here in Texas. No last at bat here or anywhere drivable ( I drove to St. Louis once to see him, so I'd consider that OK ) It is too far to drive to NYC and I have a plane phobia. However, with IV Valium it maybe could be done. Or maybe Versed.

So, if we're understanding this right (and I think we are) the $863.95 VIP Package is the Meet and Greet.

I love ML more than I care to mention, but as a matter of principle I wouldn't pay that, whether I had the cash to do it or not, I wouldn't pay it. I appreciate we're talking about Vegas so there has to be room for inflated prices here and there but £577 for a M&G is above and beyond what's reasonable.

Congratulations to whoever does buy them - we thought we held the record for the smallest M&G in Finland in 2008 which had just 3 people but we could be about to lose it!!

You're welcome .. the autographed red scarf is cool ;)

The page wasn't exactly the most helpful piece of layout .. but then the agency which has the biggest stranglehold on all on-line ticket sales has one of the poorest customer service departments, slowest loading and most frustrating sites, greediest surcharges, and the worst hieroglyphics to type in over and over again .. And for those with limited vision, the audio security is utterly unintelligible. They SO deserve to be the market leader!

It doesn't. Meat said at some point on here I think that the show would be around that length .. but quite a few things (including the venue) have changed from what he's been given to understand over the months. It's been a long process of planning, negotiating and contracting, and who knows what will have changed? (Hell .. Warrio hasn't designed the setlist yet! ;)) So we'll find out when the shows start ;)

One thing we do know ..it will be a marvellous and special show :-)

Yes .. although you buy on TM from Travelzoo, and given some are likely to be held back from sale for the casino high rollers, if you can get something that seems good now, why not? It also gets the whole stressful process of buying tickets for a Meat show done and out of the way ;) You can then at least simply sit back and wait for the show with pleased anticipation ..

I might be wrong on this but from what I've heard they're fairly average sort of prices for Las Vegas. I agree that yes, some of the tickets are fairly pricey but they wouldn't charge that much if they thought that no one would be willing to pay it.

I'd have loved to have gone but even if I'd have sacrificed all of the UK shows I went to, I still wouldn't have been able to afford it. I'm disappointed to miss out on what looks to be an amazing show but that's life sometimes.

I agree. Looking last week at tickets for performers I'd heard of, the basic ticket prices seem pretty comparable . and you have to bear in mind the stinging Las Vegas entertainment tax which is added to the base price.

Meat has kept his arena tour prices pretty low compared to other performers, and we've been lucky. Now he's playing a season in Vegas the prices are in line with big name headliners, and really I don't think most of the tickets are that high. The one which I suspect people are blenching at is the M&G option .. and even that is less than some performers charge here in arenas for M&G packages, often having huge numbers attending and little interaction with the performer.

We have imo been exceptionally lucky following Meat all these years. Hell .. 10 years ago I had to pay £85 for a 7th row ticket to see Elton John! I still think that most of the tickets for Meat's Vegas show are not excessive given the location, and pretty much what I expected.

Those were two shows that were cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy last fall. Having said that, it is interesting that they're still listed on there ..... maybe there's a chance that Meat will do the shows if he is in fact planning on bringing the LAB tour to NY next year :??:

Excluding the M&G the ticket prices are comparable to many other Vegas shows. It really is true. I paid $95ish dollar for front mezzanine for his MMW tour in Los Angeles. So it looks about right for LV.

I lived and worked in Las Vegas for years and knowing that I saved for this show. I don't have the money for up front or a M&G but I have enough for mezzanine. I apologize if I come off as bragging to those you can't make it. That's not my intention. I just want people to know there is a silver lining. I look at it as I may not be able to sit next to the stage, do a M&G, stay at a "on the strip" hotel, or go to fancy restaurants but I'm still GOING.

Most likely I won't be able to see the LAB in NYC so this is my last chance to see Meat. I'm just thrilled! Beyond thrilled!

 Something I don't think has been touched on, the fact that the venue is much smaller.
The smaller the venue the less seats there are (and don't forget, this is tables, not concert seating that's designed to squeeze in as many bodies as possible).
The fewer seats there are, the higher the price of those seats must be to pay for the evening.

The MEN holds 21,000 people.
Does this place hold 1000?
If so, the tickets need to be 21 X the price of a ticket for the MEN for the same income.

This is obviously going to be a very special and intimate evening, and for special and intimate you've got to open the wallet a lot more

Congrats to those who get to see the show.

I think it holds about 12-1300, so yes, far smaller and more intimate. Tables are in the front VIP area, then there's a row of banquette seating, the conventional seating in three blocks behind. There's two blocks of orchestra seating, seem to be in three blocks across, and a mezzanine arranged similarly. I'd expect it to be fairly steeply banked, so everyone gets a great view of the stage.

Here's a better picture of the theatre:

http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd173/CarylBurton/PlanetHollywoodResortCasino-Showroom__zps6c8aa348.gif

And really, leaving aside the cost of getting and staying there, the price of the tickets is imo pretty fair, and the lowest price no more than any arena ticket here. The M&G may seem high to fans used to a performer who has offered his at the low end of the scale on his tours (no surprise they sell out so fast over here .. London sold out within the first day) .. but Meat has made them lower the price by $250, so they're still much cheaper than those offered by other performers (and still cheaper than those offered by some performers over here on their arena tours!). And it's Vegas and he has no control over their entertainment tax, which leaves TM standing on the horizon

Yes, it will be a great show, and I'm sorry you can't make it :( But the biggest chunk is getting there. It was always going to be an expensive outing, but fr those who can manage it I'm sure it will be a wonderful show :-) And it keeps Meat performing with a whole lot less stress than being on tour for months! Which I think he's earned :-)

On the subject of ticket prices, I'm not in the least suprised with the prices, up to $200 is exactly what I would have expected for Vegas.

£577 for a meet and greet is not what I'd expect, from any artist. Had to laugh when they were plugged as "30 minutes" long...that's 15 minutes shorter than some of the ones we got this year, and £377 more! Inexplicable...

I believe that's not too bad actually compared to some artists. Have heard of Aerosmith charging $1000 and then there are cheaper tiers to meet just one of the band members etc. Bit silly but I guess that's the way.

I wouldn't have considered going to LV even if the tickets were 50 bucks. Glad I got my fix here in the UK though. Excellent tour it was and really can't ask for more than what I got. I do hope anyone going from here is going to enjoy it.

You simply cannot fairly compare Meat's low cost arena M&Gs with those in Vegas. We're just lucky he worked to keep the arena tour packages as low as he did imo. Base price at Vegas before taxes is $750 .. Bob Jovi's VIP packages for his show were over $1,000 and it didn't include a M&G. Most artists there of any renown are $1000, and Meat had them reduce his to $750. As to the length .. they're after the show, and I'm sure Meat will be there as long as it takes to make them special for those who attend

So do I .. but this isn't like when Meat tours and the title is down to him .. he's the first headliner. Presumably the producer/creator decided on Rocktellz .. which looks faintly illiterate but perhaps they think it's more "Vegas"

I'm surprised at the format really and wonder if that really fits Las Vegas (not that I care about LV as I doubt I'd ever go there). Surely a show aimed at high rollers / more premium is more about the entertainment than finding out backstories about how that entertainment came to being? I'm sure if the Stones did Las Vegas tickets would be astronomical beyond their normal astronomical prices. But would the average high roller who would see them in LV really care about what Keith and Mick were thinking about when they wrote Brown Sugar? Ie surely the hardcore fanbase who would find such things interesting are not going to be just located in LV and be able to afford such prices to see a Rocktellz show? The format and location and thus price seems a bit flawed to me.

I'm glad Meat gave the average show goer such a wealth of backstory on all the Bat 1 songs on this last tour. In my opinion it made it quite complete for me. I simply cannot see what Rocktellz could do better in Las Vegas with all these artists for people I reckon on average are only there to be entertained at premium prices.

But perhaps I am forgetting something in my argument above; the tellZ is probably a large part of the entertainment in a sense if done effectively but really I couldn't care two shits about background stories of music I don't care too much about. I think for me there are only 5 or so artists (including Meat and Bruce of course) by which long talks between songs I could endure. I saw some music shows on holiday and there were a bunch of guys who were pretty awesome when they were singing but I felt like walking out as their stories between songs were getting really boring. 60 minute show and only 30 minutes music I'd say.

I guess the producers think it will work .. and to be fair I think a lot of people enjoy those kind of "evenings with" which are a mix of humour, interaction, and songs/music. Certainly I loved Storytellers, and I think this should be even better .. remember he's not simply talking about the songs in this show, but telling stories and answering questions on his whole career

I don't think people will stand. In Storytellers Meat sat for some of the time, the audience sat most of the time, standing to applaud or some for a few key songs. Casino audiences in the US aren't known for having legs ;) Meat will go from answering questions to song and back again .. nothing like a concert.

If it IS .. I wouldn't trust anyone who Meat clearly couldn't trust; but if I DID think they had a clue and weren't simply boasting or pulling my chain, I wouldn't post it on a general website.

Interesting question...I'd imagine everyone will be there as the NLE doesn't really have "extra" members, everyone has a role that only they can do.

So would I. Meat had all the NLE for Storytellers, and this show is important to him, being played in Vegas, and he promises it will be better that ST. I too hope Dave Luther is there .. and the running campaign to get Randy to "take his shirt off" suggests to me that Frances knows he will be there .. unless she's hoping for the racecourse gigs ..:lol:

Perhaps they could drop a bandmember here and there but I don't see why. Stripped down might just mean a more acoustic feel to some of the songs or Meat might simply ignore that part (which I think is the most likely route).

In either case I'd imagine a complete NLE line up is the most likely setting.

I do have one question of Meat if he is to happen to read this thread. The description of the Vegas show says that it will feature stripped down version of the biggest hits. So, my question is, will all members of the Neverland Express be present for the shows?

Oh wow, yes, I too was reading stripped down version from different press releases. They almost made it sound like it was going to be an unplugged acoustic show. Meat Loaf will offer a once-in-a-lifetime, stripped down deconstruction of his career, including performances of his biggest hits.

 To be fair, to strip down and to deconstruct pretty means the same thing, and both terms are used to describe a retrospective of your career and experiences over the years.

The way I interpret what is said on the press release is that your career will be taken apart and looked at.
During this examination you will perform some of the songs that were highlights of your professional journey.

I don't think it's that bad, but there's obviously room for misunderstanding. :bleh:

I'm sure the show will be killer.
Hope you have a lot of fun and success in Vegas Meat

It will indeed .. and yes we do ;) But you can understand why Meat is miffed. What appears in the press can influence people, and he wants the show to sell out and be a success. Those of us here and on FB won't fill the theatre every night. They'll want to pull in a lot of casual fans, people who might not even say they are "fans", but will be in Vegas, looking for entertainment .. and the way the show is described can inform/affect their decision.

Once he's started and the full excitement of the show is seen, hopefully there will be sufficient media coverage to more accurately describe what the show is like and people will beat a path to its door :-)

People that aren't fans only hear Bat out of hell and expect me to have the same sped up 1/4 tone voice that was on Bat in 1976 when it was recorded. The tone of of my voice has changed because of the 3 sinus and the 2 Vocal cord surgery's. The tone change makes people say it's out of Key , I'm not . I'm not saying every note is perfect here and every night is great , I hit some flat notes but I'm not out of key, All you have to do is listen to the backgrounds . When someone is out of Key there is a huge clash between BG's and Piano. There are no clashes like that on any show tape . . There are show tapes I don't like and upsets me. We still do Bat, Paradise and Took the words in the same key they were recorded ,not sped up keys . Elton has lowered his keys a step or a step and a have down. D.T. and some of his evil band have been posting reviews on ticketmaster in the states to try and bring down my Star average. Motley Crue has a better star average than I do and he doesn't even sing the songs ... the Audience does , he sings a line and points the mike to the audience they sing. Venting, Meat

When I was at Sheffield this year I was sitting there just focusing on the quality of the musicians and your vocals and although I'd already seen you in concert three times before that, you amazed me with your voice. Yes, I know the tone of your voice has changed and I wouldn't expect you to sound like you did in 1977 but I like how your vioce is now and you certainly were NOT out of key or lacking in power.

You really do deserve better Meat but some people have rather sad lives and take pleasure out of trying to tear others down.

People that aren't fans only hear Bat out of hell and expect me to have the same sped up 1/4 tone voice that was on Bat in 1976 when it was recorded.

But I've seen you nip that live, when you introduce the songs off of Bat. You have explained in the live environment that the album was sped up (even throwing in an Alvin and the Chipmunk analogy) and after a superb rendition of 2 Out of 3 .... the roar of the audience was proof positive that your voice, as it is now, is plenty acceptable. So you have found that way to combat the "average" expectation.

D.T. and some of his evil band have been posting reviews on ticketmaster in the states to try and bring down my Star average. Vent away. I agree with your assessment of D.T. and his evil plot to seek and destroy any reliable internet rating system for you. It's disgusting and makes my stomach turn for you. I wish there were something more we can do to offset those reviews.

I understand and feel for you. It's grossly unfair, and disgraceful.

What I would say is that, even if some will come expecting you to sound like '76 and Alvin, once you start I really believe the vast majority of people in every audience are swept away by your charisma, passion, stagecraft and your vocals. There's a solid maturity now that is just as impressive as when you toured in the early years.

It's atrocious that an unstable and dementedly jealous jackass can campaign to bring down your ratings on TM, and must be hugely frustrating, but I don't believe it would influence any fans, nor even really influence those who know of you and the reputation for excellence you've achieved over the years. You are a household name, and in my view people who are in or coming to Vegas on holiday will be attracted by that, and won't be put off by his miserable campaign. Even if people bother to consider the star ratings or read the reviews (and I suspect most don't) there is a sameness of offensive wording about many of the blistering ones which would make me suspicious immediately, and such a contrast between them and the preponderence of extremely enthusiastic ones, that I think people would give more weight to the many, many 5 star reviews.

But vent .. and move on. Would the producers have chosen you to headline the first season if they didn't know you were the best? :-) You know just how special you're planning this show will be! .. and we trust you :-)

Meat, any song you sing instantly turns to gold for me :D And for many of those, I had absolutely no interest in the original!!

Some examples....Bagel Bites (edit..ok there was no original, but even singing about bagels moved me immensely!! :P :P), Mercury Blues, and that youtube of you singing Honkey Tonk Woman with Pearl, Scott and Patti! I never liked it it had your epic touch.

Positive vibes coming your way, I have no doubt that after each show, the crowd will be amazed by your energy, and in a state of ecstasy about what has just happened to them. That's how I always feel after your shows, like I'm coming out of some sort of dream state. Usually I'm in completely another place for hours after, and I'm sure most of us on here would agree :D :D

I can think of several artists that sound better as they matured-- Leonard Cohen & Tom Jones voice is different now. I think they are better. " To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven". Every season has beauty.
So many of your songs lend themselves to your voice as it is now. When you sing "Objects" it still brings me to tears.

"...If you don't worry 'bout the future,
Sooner or later it's the past
And if they say the thrill is gone,
Then it's time to take it back..."

Your fans won't leave you and screw the rest.

Saying this as gently as possible .. but we've long established you haven't really liked anything Meat has done for a very long time, and you won't need to feel you can't listen/watch/stand any more because Meat has done with touring .. so all you need to do is avoid anything posted so far this century on YouTube and you'll be saved from listening or watching any live recordings.

There's no sign that the producers intend to record Meat's Vegas show, so you'll be saved that too .. although many others will be hugely disappointed, particularly those in Europe who were at the amazing Last at Bat tour and would give their eye teeth to see Rocktellz and Cocktails. But if we get lucky we'll warn you .. and I doubt there will be many bootlegs on YT from Vegas; illicit recording is likely to be difficult in such a small theatre

It's a wonderful DVD Chris .. but we can't honestly expect WoH to like it can we?

That is sad news. :( Oh well ... Next year we will have new DVD - "Last at Bat" (from New York).

I doubt there will be many bootlegs on YT from Vegas; illicit recording is likely to be difficult in such a small theatre

You'd be surprised. A few soundboards from Eltons Vegas show have surfaced

That is sad news.

I'm not saying there won't .. just that this would be something down to the Vegas producers, not Meat. We had a DVD of Storytellers, but that was a VH1 production, and all their original Storytellers shows were produced specifically for a recording. How likely it is that the company putting on the Rocktellz and Cocktails series of Vegas seasons would be tempted into producing DVDs I have no idea.

Nothing would surprise me in this area Warrio .. but I stand by what I said. I doubt there will be many. If any surface we'll just have to help WoH avoid them and save him the disappointment of listening and watching ;) .. and then having to tell us how disappointed he was.

And I've already checked them. But God, why? :-)
Even Meat confessed he is low key but it's good enough to the fans. Am I the only critic to say it is not enough?

My impression of what this show will be is a retrospective of Meat's career. I don't get the impression it's a "concert" but one of a Vegas show with video montages, set and costume changes, live songs with and without Meat, and the Q&A. I'm I far off?

If this was to be recorded I would want a great copy and not some crappy bootleg.

I can't wait for Vegas!

Did I read/hear somewhere that the stories are aimed more towards Meat's acting career rather than his music? Did he say it in a meet and greet or have I made it up?!

I don't think you're far off. Meat said recently when asked if it would be like Storytellers that it would start out like that but would take off like a rocket and get kicked into the stratosphere .. or words to that effect ;)

Dear God yes!! It would be up to the producers .. and I tend to think that they might be reluctant to take out tables/seating unless they saw a significant profit in it though..

I think he said it would be aimed at his whole career rather than than the songs or the making of BOOH etc. That was also the M&G he gave some impromptu acting lessons .. so I could see how your synapses might put the two together and came up with acting career rather than music ;)

Just a simple question. as far as keys go , Bat , paradise, took the words are in the same key as they were recording 37 years ago , why? because I can still hit the notes . ( most of the time :-) . So the plan is to answer questions from the audience & steer the convo into a song from your set list. What if the question is out-and-out bizarre? Will you answer anyway and then say "okay and the next song is..."? ;) What is Plan B for something like that? LOL

@anotherday re: logos

The original logo/font is shorter and wider. Bat 2 until Hang Cool (don't quote me, not got it to hand!) is taller and thinner.

A few 80's releases used completely different fonts but in terms of the "proper" logo that's the difference.

Its actually till Bat 3 that have the tall thin font.

Hang Cool and HIAHB have the current rasterized font.
