Meat just answered a question on facebook that he would do Glastonbury in a heartbeat if they asked him. :cheer:

So, anyone has the right connections?
Let's ask him! :D. LOL

I'd much prefer him to do Hard Rock Calling. Purely as I don't do camping (my Force Protection Training will be fun!).

I'm kinda surprised he said he'd do it

I'd rather he played another festival as Glastonbury tickets are notoriously hard to get hold of!

Download festival.
Go there every year. Its a long shot but maybe. Think Reading scared him for life though!

If he might come for a festival to the UK, he could do some "more" gigs, couldn't he? :D
I mean it is a very long journey for him and the band just for one performance.... It should be worth it ;)

If it did happen then saturday would be the day as that day has the more 'mature' .artists on the main and second stage. Ive seen europe, uriah heep, saxon, journey, and loads more. Always had a great time and Meat would be fantastic! You neevveerrr know. ;0)

DOWNLOAD !!!!!!!

I have been there every year since it began & even before that when it was called Monsters of rock.

I would be even more up for that especially now that I get full FOH access wristbands for Download.

Sonisphere is looking very doubtful ever again, in UK at least.

In the last couple of weeks they have removed the webpage saying they are looking to negotiate to return in 2014 & 2015, Their UK facebook & twitter pages have also been closed.

Download already is huge & getting bigger all the time. If some of the rumors of acts they are negotiating with to headline 2014 are confirmed it will be something special. This year was pretty damn fantastic with Maiden, Slipknot & Rammstein headlining main stage pushing the likes of Enter Shikiri, Limp Bizkit, Motorhead & Bullet for my valentine to either side stages or warm up slots.

Bloodstock overtook Sonisphere a few years ago as the "go to" pure metal festival for the UK.

I have been to Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds etc but Download I have had the best experience with. Never had any trouble there unlike Glastonbury where it seemed there was always somewhere just kept away from cameras

 I'm surprised Meat said he'd do Glastonbury.
He's not had the happiest times at music festivals.

IMHO, it's not right for him.
Like it of not, Meat doesn't sound the way he used too. Fans say his voice has matured, less kind people just say bluntly that he's old.
Once he's away from his own fanbase, the audience is more likely to be less understanding, realistic, and forgiving about their expectations of what Meat's performance should be like.

Remember Party In The Park back in 2003?
It was a good enough performance, but there was a problem with the sound (if I remember rightly it was either the mic wasn't working properly or an ear monitor failed and Meat couldn't hear anything, something else that is a pain in the ass about this kind of event).
The crowd was pretty indifferent towards Meat, and he knew it from the start. Didn't he say before singing something like "If you don't know Meat Loaf now you'll know him by the time this is over"?
And they didn't seem to care then either.
They were just there for the trendy groups.

I also remember when he did the shows with Cyndi Lauper. Her fans were leaving after she played the first of the show, leaving Meat with half a crowd.

I think Meat is much better sticking with being to doing his own shows rather than being on a bill of artists.

Saying that, i'll have to rack up a few more years in the entertainment industry before claiming to know better than him, so it's his call

I would do anything for Meat but I ain't doing that!

So Glastonbury is some sort of rockers festival thing?

Hmmm... I don't know in that case if it's wise to do that.
Meat would probably do much better in just a Meat setting with his own hardcore fans instead of a festival with a big variety of people...

Maybe we can ask him for something else.... Hehe. :-P

Glastonbury is a mixture of music Tina. Rock, Rap, dance etc. it's huge!! 130000 people I think!!
IMHO Meat would not close Download. I could imagine him on the second stage early evening maybe. It's a pipe dream though, as Monstro said its surprising he said that as they've not been good to him in the past.

No. No no no no no.

I would do anything for Meat but I ain't doing that!
Lucy....you and Andy would love Download! Smelly greasy rockers everywhere drunk at 6.00 in the morning. No sleep due to the planes flying overhead, your pick of all the quality burger vans. Playing the 'balance over the toilet' game. And me waving at you from the nice clean family campsite whilst quaffing a glass of red!
Maybe?

Have you met me? I would die at a festival, I could cope with the camping but thought of the bathrooms (or lack of) is enough to put me off forever.

Guy
25 Jul 2013, 23:12
And i wont even talk about camping in fields with BIG spiders! Lol.

JennaG
25 Jul 2013, 23:29
I did enough camping as a child and I'm not in a rush to do it again.

It's too cold, there's too many bugs and I'd miss things like a decent bed and proper bathrooms.

Camping isn't for life lol, you will always come back to your luxuries, but to each their own, I love camping and it's been far too long since I last did.

If you don't like camping Download has the RIP guest hotel, Its a popup hotel complete with all the mod cons & luxuries you could ask for.

Add on to this considering where Download is in relation to Donnington & Castle Donnington villages it can be faster to walk to some of the B&B or hotels in the villages than to walk round the circuit perimeter walkways to the onsite camping

No disrespect to Meat but I think the days of him playing the harder rock festivals in the UK are over. Not that I don't think he'd go down well but just think he prob wouldn't want to do them after Knebworth 85 and Reading 88.

In saying that Glastonbury would be perfect. I have been 5 times and it is by far the best festival I have been to. Glastonbury is known for its diverse mix of acts and there is a 'legends' slot on Sunday afternoons for older acts. Kenny Rogers did it this year and they've had Tom Jones, Ray Davis, James Brown and others over the years.
I know everyone would say they want Meat to headline but I don't think that he would be everyones ideal choice for headliner (In saying that I saw Rod Stewart do it in 2002???)
I actually think Meat would be perfect for the Sunday afternoon slot, songs like Paradise, Deadringer, Anything for Love and Bat would make great sing-alongs. Meat please do this if it is offered!!!

Glastonbury no - download yes , that is my final answer

Download is not the place for Meat Loaf at this point in his career. Nor is Bloodstock.
He would be slaughtered.
I could maybe, perhaps, mayhaps see Glastonbury (due to the nature of the artists they usually book), but as for the top two: forget it.
