View Full Version : This is prolly REALLY nerdy but....
Ive been watching some last at bat videos on youtube and noticed during two out of three hes standing like this:

SO cool.
LOL
During LAB he had his arms crossed. During the Original tour he moves his arms. It's geeky you waited for the frame where it looks like he's crossing his arms (which he does not).
So I'm pretty sure it's not a refference...
Yes well at the start he says he's going to try and sing it like 78... He means it completely.
I posted a pic a while ago of one taken from the 70s and one of mine from the LAB tour joined together... I'll see if I can find it and post it again

It's where he starts (as in the photos Mel's posted), rather than how long he stays in that position Adje.
I think there is always a relevance in what he's doing as he prepares to sing every song, rather than whether he keeps his arms folded or not throughout this particular one. Meat's an actor; he creates a character for every song. As an actor he has a physical stance or movement to summon every character he has created for the song .. doing that brings the character into focus for him, he takes it into every part of his body, becomes the character, is no longer himself. The clearest one for me is as he's preparing for BOOH .. but he has one for every song, although he says we probably won't notice a lot of them. ;) But if you watch him prepare for each one, there will be a position of a hand, an expression on his face, something in his stance etc .. some small thing he does as an actor to call in the character. The folded arms may be the one he used in '78, so using that might help him create that original character as he felt it in '78, which is as Mel says what he said he'd do, and what he delivered :-)
So yes, it is a bit nerdy Warrio .. but you are a self-confessed nerd, and proud of it ;):-) This time, yes, it's cool you noticed ;)

I bolded something Mel. Thats a fantastic comparison picture but the meat on the right is from 1981. He started wearing that vest only during the 1981 tour. Then he ditched it, lost weight, and began wearing all black, which sans a few exceptions (Like the second act of LAB for example) he pretty much has worn all black his entire stage career.
Sorry, just had to say it

Now you're being nerdy! :lol::lol:
It's how he started the song in '78 too ;)

Except for the gold shirt he used to wear during the BA tour, for example :p

You wanna get technical heres the instances where he didnt wear all black post 1981:
BA Tour: wore a Gold shirt for two out of three and bat
1988 Tour: wore a white shirt and suspenders for paradise
1991 Tour: Wore some different over the top shirts, most notably during Toads Place (The "Sequined Sodas")
Bat 2 Tour: Act 1 of the Tour he wore a white pirate shirt
WTTN Tour: During Not a dry eye, original sin, and Amnesty he wore a red shirt while during the last part of the show before bat it was dark blue. first part of the show and bat was all in black
CHSIB Tour: Wore the white shirt for Bat
3 Bats Tour: Wore the White Shirt for the first act (He wore all the black the first act for RAH)
LAB: Wore white shirt for last act
That may seem like alot but it isnt compared to everything as a whole. Most of those shows, like the CHSIB Tour shows, were mostly all black but he switched it up towards the end.

You're assuming he wore the same for every show. How do you know one day he didn't wake up and think '~~~~ it, I'm wearing a yellow shirt tonight!'

Meat is very formulaic (Only in terms of dress and set list) for each tour, which makes it easy to assume.

I love his formulas. Beats those old chemistry lessons any day.

Is there a technical term for the kind of outfits Meat wears on stage?

Smart ass... I mean the style.
Smart ass... I mean the style.
no need to be rude.
I believe the style is epicness.
I believe the actual styles can be classified as such:
Bat 2 Tour: Theatrical Elizabethan
WTTN: Sequined Noir
The Last four Tours: Sequined Everything
all Other Tours: Black on black or White on Black

Also... maybe two out of three is the same character as the Mad Mad Escapes speech that started the 1988 LB&GG Tour!

 Remind me never to go for chinese food at some of the places you eat at :bleh:
Remember folks, the written word by itself can sometimes come over more harshly than intended.
Smilies are a good way to inject a bit of intent into a post. To soften words and to indicate humor.
They're not called emoticons for nothing
In all fairness, Caryl used a wink smilie to indicate that she was only engaging in some friendly leg pulling.
If I want to call someone a wiseass (and on this forum I have more than enough occassion to do that  ) a simple :p is enough to indicate that you are not trying to be offensive.
Back to the topic please, such as it is :bleh: :p
