"It's just one of those things. It covers three and a half octaves, and we still do it in the original key. The average person doesn't understand how difficult those songs are to perform. That's why it took Guitar Hero so long to put one of the songs on their thing. They're impossible to play. They're not normal chord structures. They want the songs that are easy."
...it covers two octaves, has been taken down from F to E (both of which aren't anything to be ashamed of ), and you don't play anything that has an actual basis in real music theory/structure on Guitar Hero, so the weird chords are sort of irrelevant. Surely the issue was the length of the songs more than anything, I can't see the crowd that Guitar Hero attracts being interested chained to one song for ten or more minutes
I did like the rest of the interview  It was just that bit that I had to comment on, because he's said it before - it wasn't true then (the first part of the quote), and it's not any truer now, no matter how impressive it sounds >.>
1994's Bat Out of Hell II: Back to Hell, proved to be a hit, delivering the hit "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)...""Yeah, they told me that people didn't want it," he says.
I haven't heard this before. What possible issue could anyone have with Anything For Love outside of the length (which can be shortened for a single release anyway)
Now 64, Meat Loaf says he's about ready to call it a day. He says he has gigs lined up through 2013, but after that he plans to focus on his acting career. He's made 59 films to date and he hopes to get to 100.
This is a bit saddening, although it'd be cool if Meat actually did make it to 100. Another 41 movies that'll be worth checking out :D
Thanks for sharing Vicki!

This kind of overshadows the rest of the article really.
Although this is not the first we've heard of this it doesn't mean it's any easier to hear. :( :( :(

She is saving money to get to a show. She lives in Australia, so she'd have to travel to get to one. She's starting her concert fund! :D

I dunno, the most requested bands on Guitar Hero (In this case Rock Band as the track in question, Paradise, was released on Rock Band as DLC) are Dream Theater and Rush. Both bands have had tracks released for the game and both bands have songs, especially in the case of Dream Theater which tend to be longer than and more complex than Meats.
I know Rock Band did have a limit of about 10 minutes for tracks but that has been broken since the release of Rush's 2112 and since the first title was released plenty have came near to it.

It was the early 90s, a time when Rock Music was having the excess trimmed out of it again much like it did in the late 70s/early 80s when people embraced Punk and got fed up of bands like Yes or ELP and bands like Genesis moved towards a more pop sound. The early 90s gave way to bands like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc, Anything For Love in terms of Lyrics, sound, length went against all the trends at the time. It emphasized excess in a time when excess was being cut out.
Someone older than me who was old enough at the time to remember the state of the industry might be able to fill in more details but based on what I've read about the history of music it would went against a lot of the trends of the time.

Wish I could multi-quote on my phone!
Yes I'm saving to fly over for the UK tour, I've already been saving for a few weeks, and if I can save that same amount every few weeks I'll be well on my way!

The UK is very expensive at the moment. Oh yes, tough times. I'm not sure you will have time to save up before Meat tours here. So, to avoid disappointment, may I suggest you spend your hard-earned cash on something else. Maybe some slip fielding lessons?

This is bullshit interview okay, cause I read three that weren't even a few months ago and some recently that say he is going to make 3 more albums after his Mad Mad World Tour so tell me does it sound like Meat Loaf is about to quit singing?
No, Meat has posted about this on the Guilty Pleasures Review thread .. said he's getting ready to do a last big tour in the UK and where he can in Europe; two-part show with whole of Bat in second act. Might be back to do a show or something for Charity, but this really is the last tour. He'll take it to the US afterwards, may do some weekends in 2014, but 2013 is last year of major touring as he sees it currently. Is being asked to consider another ST tour, although it's not clear whether he means this to run immediately after the 2 parter in the USA. He also said:
"Going to work on a XMAS album and working hard on something special but I can't talk about right now . The Minute it clears I will let you Know !!!"
