View Full Version : Release of Testify, the single....
So, In my humble opinion this song, Testify, has the highest potential to make it in the UK charts - I won't go into reasons but I will if anyone asks!
If somebody lets us know a release date (and if enough copies are available) lets get it to the top of the charts. This song can do it!
We must have warning to save pennies!!
And how about more than one type of single release with different B sides, that always makes me buy more than one single
I have visions of the video already :)
LP
that wud b cool but won't most ppl have allready have bought the album so then wont b botherd buying the single
Think it depends what extra the singles can offer i.e live tracks or interactive content....

Couldn't agree more. Think Testify is the song on the album that, with the right promotion, could go to #1 Worldwide! Almost everyone loves this one! I think there is something 'universal' about this song. Don't know how to explain it, but even my children like it (they 'Hate' ML) and all of my friends too (do not like ML either) I even ran into a group of people from Turkey. They couldn't understand the lyrics but said 'this is a great song'.
Me? I am Hooked! Think this song 'can make history'!
Now, LP, I am 'asking' :!: Reasons, please!
Great day to you!!!
Mariella
Think you summed it up, you can either love this song cos it’s Meat Loaf or love it for just being a great song. We’re lucky enough to think its great for both of those reasons – just a universally great song!
On the video…..bet if they put some real thought into it somebody could create a seriously unique video, this song would carry it so well, and deserves any extra publicity a totally original video would bring. Not talking shock treatment, but I bet Meat is rubbing shoulders with some great new talent during his time making movies.....?

I agree again, with a unique video (song is unique too) I think the 'Sky is the limit'. Now, two things, we don't know IF the recordcompany will release it and if they do, will they put up the money for the video! (And When does Meat have the time to shoot any video?)
But I think I might start to mail them about this :!:
Because I truly believe in the potential of this song.
Love,
Mariella
I edited this because I am not going to mail them about this. Don't see much point in that. Could even be considered as 'bothering' them.
Let's get this song to number 1. Come on Mercury, get the promotion on this one right and maybe we will forgive you for the ~~~~-up on CHSIB. This song has it all, everyone I know loves this song. Definate No1 :D

Im behind it 110%!! and more!!! :D
:D Couldn't agree with you more, this is a great track with potential of being a number 1 hit without a doubt!
And Mercury have said the next commercial release will be November and the title track has yet to be decided. Meat has said that another video is unlikely because of the high cost of production against the limited playtime it would get.
So let me get this right, Caryl. Are you saying that Mercury have not said that Testify is due to be the next release from CHSIB?
Am a little confused here, as the beginning of the thread seems to indicate that it is due to be released as a single...
I sincerly hope that it isn't. As much as i love Meat and dearly want him to do well, i really don't think that Testify is the song that is going to do it for him. In reality, i just don't think it's mainstream enough, but that's just my opinion.
Now if it was BOY we were talking about, that'd be completely different...
Testify should be released! It's one of the best songs.
Actually having said that I think that all his songs should be released.
Pity that even if it is released it might not have a video. Shall we start our campaign of terror against the record company yet?
Their email of 17 June when I wrote asking about the "re-release" of CHSIB said:
The info we requested is for the next proper commercial release single which will possily be TBC (but NOT Testify) and released in November, thats why we need the info, we couldn't physically turn around a single with the info you're providing, so it'll be used for the future single.
as for now we're re-servicing "Couldn't have said it better" to radio & TV and the existing single is still available to order.
From this I'd deduce the title track has not been decided
Thanks for clarifying that for me, Caryl.
Am i the only one that doesn't wasnt to see Testify released as a single?

Vicki asked Meat if there would be more videos. He replied no, giving the reasons I outlined above. He knows the business, so I can't help but think it would be counter-productive to start a campaign of terror against a company we want to be more supportive of his next single release ... just mo

Heat, maybe we could start a poll about this? I am sure you are not the only one who feels this way. Since it hasn't been decided yet. Just an idea, but I don't know how to create one
I also think we should stay polite to the recordcompany. No matter how angry/frustrated we get. I also don't think all of us should mail them.
So, maybe if we create a poll, we could send them the results :??:
Love,
Mariella
Just from my recent experiences..
Testify was the best received of the new 6 songs Meat did in WI and IA. While not exactly the center of the music-buying public, this is the heartland of America.
They all paid great attention to the new songs, but Testify seemed to get the crowds' attention the most. In concert Meat and Patti add a lot to it, as he tends to do, LOL. Wonder how long it will be at the end of the tour.
Still dazed and confused from 2 concerts in a little over a week. Want to share the joy w/ all. I'll start a thread on the IA concert, maybe that will light a fire under J's azz and get her review done. (j/k, she has been working hard to make this special for everyone who wasn't there, you will see). These damn day jobs sure disrupt w/ our love of great Rock & Rolll!

 Yes, I wonder just how long Testify will be at the end of the tour too!
Maybe the are considering doing 'a live-video' of the next single :??:
Anyway, I would like to know what everyone here thinks should be the next single in November. Even if Mercury/Meat will make their own decision, most likely.
I would really appriciate it, if someone would start a poll with all songs from the album. I tried to make one, but I keep making such a mess of it

It would be fantastic to see this song performed with a huge gospel choir. And I love the intro with the heavy guitar riffs, I sort of wish it carried on through the song a bit more.
But it's one hell of a song, I can't wait to hear it live :D
Ooooooohh . . . a choir . . . I like THAT idea.

In a reported interview with the on-line music site Baconmusic, Meat is quoted as saying in answer to the question:
While having great songs on the likes of Rock ‘n’ Roll Hero and Welcome To The Neighbourhood too, would you say its fair comment that the authentic Meat Loaf sound is not firing on all cylinders without Jim Steinman?
I think they’re completely wrong and they don’t listen to the music. They make comments without thinking (laughs) – they’re totally wrong. Just look at Couldn’t Have Said It Better, Did I Say That?, Testify, Forever Young, Because Of You – (the latter written by two Englishman and the next single around Christmas time) – they’re brilliant songs!
It did not say whether this was a release for Europe or the UK .. but it is a UK site
Because of You will do nothing over here in the UK and will not capture the people here. There is only Testify and Did I Say That that would have any effect here. With the right promotion campaign (lol, as if the shits at Mercury will do that) then Testify is the one to break the top 10.
How hard is it to see that with the right investment they will make more money. It's simple business... idiots.
You just know they will be ~~~~ing over the thought of Bat 3 on their lable and will push it too the moon...
Personally I agree with Meat .. Because of You is a beautiful song. I think Meat knows what he's talking about. And as to the final comment above .. tsk

Hehe, sorry, my language has been rather bad as of late. This is mainly due to the whole record label situation and my anger directed towards it.
I was in no way saying 'Because of you' is a poor song, my personal belief is far from that in all honesty. I was basically stating in my view this song wouldn't make an impact on the charts in England. It wouldn't capture the attention that a fast, catchy song like Testify would.

The song Testify is one of my top if not top favorites on the cd! I think it has an "old" feeling to it. I think it reaches a lot of peopel emontionally. I feel that its a religious song or a gospel tune fo some sort. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!I have my own ideas about a video for the song which will be kept to myself sorry lol. I think besides tear me down this should be a top 10 if not a number 1 hit for him!

The Gospel aspect of Testify could work in the UK charts. Just take a look at Westlife's new song "Hey, Whatever". And what's the betting that this pile of steaming s**t gets to no. 1?

Although his language is terribly rude ( ) I think that icwuke is 100% correct - Mercury have been absolutely rubbish so far.
I hope they slip on something slippy and hurt themselves a lot

Whilst I sympathise with your feelings, I hope they get their act in gear and do a good job for Meat this autumn :) One proof of the pudding will be if they act on the results of the survey that so many people participated in. We'll see what they offer us in terms of feedback in October ....
