I'm sure I'm gonna love this movie just for the fact that two of my fav actors Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf are in it. There was a small write up about it in Entertainment Weekly. I soooo can't wait to see it!!!:D

There isn't very much information right now since it's still being filmed ;) But hopefully it'll be updated soon.

I'm not really liking the moustache either but it sounds like it's going to be a good film. :-)

Scream, Glee, and Meat Loaf all in one film? Has someone been peeking at my Christmas list?

:yikes: Don't know what to think of that prospect but I like Meat Loaf's statement about the drive to learn something new every day.

I agree, I like Meat with a bit of stubbly facial hair, but not keen on the full tache he's sporting for the new movie!

Too bad he only sported it for a short time. I thought it looked cool and I was a bit disappointed that it was gone when I went to the Bat III concerts.

Thanks for the post. It confirms that the movie will be released through I-Tunes first and then in theaters May 9th. Interesting.
iTunes release and then theatrical release is not uncommon for Magnet Releasing...also remember, this is a small company and the film will most likely get a limited release on the big screen. It is being pushed hard to be part of Midnight Movie runs.
Watched the trailer. Is that Minnie Driver in the film too?

No sign of the movie on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video yet.
I've just finished watching from iTunes.
Admittadly, I jumped and screamed out loud at times. I used to be the biggest horror buff, now I'm a chicken shite peeking through my fingers watching. I'll probably have a nightmare, but I don't really care.
BUT, Meat did a fantastic job with the part/character. No spoilers. Just a recommendation that the movie is a must see. I agree that it's a Glee, Meets Rocky Horror, Meets Friday the 13th movie mash that works really well.
Congratulations Meat, you have absolutely nothing to worry about with this film! :cheer::yay::cheer::yay:

I am so excited to see this movie. I am going to try and watch it this weekend. Time permitted! Does anyone know yet where the movie will be released in theaters. Would love to show Meat some support by being able to pack out the theaters!!
OMG! Sooooo much fun!!! I laughed until I hurt and even screamed a couple of times. This will be a midnight classic for sure.

It's on Amazon.com I think .. Given the very good press reviews I'm sure that it will eventually go to DVD and we'll get the opportunity to buy it here then. Something to look forward to :-)
It is on Amazon, that's where I saw it. I got notice the theatrical rights are available for public screenings of the film in the United States. There is a delay in the ownable download/DVD/BluRay to give the film time to pick up (or flop) on the big screen. BTW, the rental of the film will discontinue shortly.

Magnolia Pictures just responded to my question as to what theaters the movie will be released in. So far they only have three listed; New York, Chicago and Columbus Ohio. They did say they were still adding theaters. Here is the link so everyone can check it out and see if something comes up where you live.

If you mean theatres, I think it is just theaters not theatres ;)
If you mean downloads, as far as I'm aware those available currently have country restrictions .. no idea if you can purchase if you fake an IP address. If they have any business sense they'd pick up an out of country payment method ..
I'm waiting and hoping sometime in the future we can buy a DVD here .. or even one released in the USA would do fine as most of our players are multi-region

I got the chance to watch Stage Fright last night. What an excellent film. Meat plays his character brilliantly. It was a little odd for me at first to hear Meat singing non-Meat style songs , but he did an excellent job and sounded great :-).
The only negative for me is that I wish the film had been a little longer, but it was enjoyable none the less.
I won't spoil anything but its certainly worth a watch when you get the opportunity.

Just watched this last night. I must say it was different but I say that in the very best of ways. It was funny, great one liners. Don't get me wrong it is goory for the horror side. The music was great. Everyone played their rolls well. The move also had me fooled until the end as to who the killer was. I recommend it to anyone who likes musicals or is a Meat fan. He is really great in this one!! :D Will watch it in the theaters if it is released near me!!

I managed to catch a screening of Stage Fright last night, and I have to say, it was a genuinely good film. It was a little confused at times as to what it wanted to be (personally, I think they probably could've cut the earlier songs as the musical element doesn't really come through that strongly until the end), but it had an interesting vibe nevertheless.
They didn't pull any punches with the slasher elements either.
Oh, and Meat's performance was gut busting. Side splitting, you might say :p
Saw it, it was good. Wish meat sung more tho. The I am gay part had me dying

Just checked with a friend of mine, this is not slated for a cinema release in the UK, he can't find any information to say it will be, so looks like it's a straight to Blu-ray/DVD/VOD job in the UK.

Stage Fright... yes I have seen it... its really a different kind of horror... very well acted, the songs are funny and yes as someone mentioned glee style (but hey dont go down that road) as this is a movie with people who can act!! the film keeps its pace thru out and piece by piece you get the films plot. Meat is very good in the film and must admit I was very impressed by this horror.. original, stylish and funny, not shocking but just enough blood to keep you watching.:D

I agree. Very good film. Meat was awesome in it but could have done with some bigger songs. Loved it though.
I must say I didn't watch this because of Meat Loaf but because it was suposed to be a horror/slasher movie.
Maybe I saw a different version but this was okay-ish at best. The musical part was decent, but as a sucker for (B) horror movies it was quite dissapointing. The final half an hour seemed rushed and was a mess, with the (very) predictable twist at the end. The opening was probably the best part of the movie. It just never got better after that.
Character development was poor and made the movie even more predictable. Not strange if you minimise the main characters. Acting was okay for most parts. But in the end this is a forgettable movie.
Slasher/musical: Nice idea,
Execution: so, so.
Grade: 4 out of 10

Finally saw the film.
Not that great. I'd agree with Adje's rating.
I actually thought Meat was pretty good in it. Too bad he didn't have better material. Some of the other cast were not bad.
The songs were atrocious. They really should/could have done better with that. Maybe get some inspiration from Little Shop of Horrors or even Jerry Springer Musical. They both had much, much better songs. Imagine Meat singing something along the lines of "It ain't easy being me." Would be effing epic. It definitely required some good themes scattered around. They were just not there. Some of the orchestration was actually pretty good I reckon, but just weak initial material. Needed more simple melodies that could have given some simple but near stellar performances. A few themes some of the girls sang sounded really whiney almost to the point I wanted to switch the whole thing off.
Could have been better. Maybe avoid the young children setting too and just have it at a high school I think. The Gallows (movie about a high school play performance) was pretty decent, which I saw recently. Not a musical but showed that a high school has a more credible setting for a play/musical that turns into horror and eventually repeats itself many years later etc. Summer Camp... I just don't buy it.
They had material to come up with all sorts of songs here.
After the opening the movie really needed a grandiose beginning. They could have done this by focusing on the girl starting singing about the passing of her mum (soft with piano), that is was hard to grow up etc but now she is a woman herself, then that opens up to set the scene at the camp with whole cast joining in (grand. Reuse a main stage fright theme later again etc). The "glad we are here /where we belong" thing was lame and just didn't move things from the personal sphere to a spectacle which is what usually works at the beginning of a musical. They could have done simple lyrics such as "It gave me a stage fright/Feels like it has lasted all my life/Stage fright, just never seems like I'll be alright" Could have focused on the girl going out on stage looking afraid and the audience vanishing etc. Seriously almost anything would have been better than what they did with the songs and missed opportunities during the story. Too much focus on the girl "This is all I ever wanted" repeated over and over Really? That is all she ever thinks her entire life? The slasher metal songs were pathetic and more parody than anything. Shame.
The musical within a musical is an interesting classic approach as that was often used in the 40 and 50s (Singing in the Rain etc) to justify the reason why watching a musical seemed credible.
