What's the deal with some of the US venues Meat is playing at the moment? Ive just read a great review from Seymor, Wisconsin but I was horrified to read that the venue was below half capacity!! Over here in the UK and Germany, all the venues are large arenas and are mostly sold out. Is this due to under-promotion, I can't believe it's down to popularity differences?

I have to admit I would love to see Meat play at a smaller venue, but I still can't understand it! Somebody explain and put me out of my misery.

I wish I knew LP :? I have a feeling Meat is more popular in Europe. But part of it could be under-promotion, and hopefully this will change when CHSIB is released in the US this September :)

It was a sold out show last year at the New Brunswick State Theater. It was a small venue, and I would love to see him play there again :) But in September I'm going to see him in two large venues .. it'll be interesting to see what difference it makes :)

The venue I will be seeing Meatloaf at in 2 weeks seats 800 (Actually it is 796 according to the seating chart. I do not think it is sold out as of yet either. http://www.lpac.org is their website and they are still promoting it as though seats are still readily available.

This is 'unbelievable'. :??:
Think I may consider flying to the US for the 'last leg' of the tour.
But there are a lot of bigger places, right :??:

I'm going to see him at 2 different casinos this September ...
Mohegan Sun in Connecticut
The Borgata in Atlantic City

In both cases, the shows will be in big arenas :) I've never seen one of shows in a big arena, so it should be exciting. All the good seats for the show at Mohegan Sun sold out right away - so hopefully that's a real good sign :))

Actually I would love to see him play again in New Brunswick State Theater ... it's a small intimate setting :)

Can't we start a campaign to get him to play for mlukfc members only (whwn my membership comes through of course) there is a three and half acre field right behind my house that I'm trying to buy it would be perfect, or why don't we kidnap him and not release him until he performs (sings) for us. Or shall I shut up and go away now.

I was at the universal amphitheatre and meat and cyndi lauper couldn't fill that and he's only playing the one night in LA??!!

it was about 90% full at the start and &%% after cyndi lauper finished

has the USA lost all musical taste? or is it the lack of promotion that meat faces here in the USA that is causing the figures to be so down?

i even had to get my copy of the latest cd (special edition) on ebay from the UK

on friday as i was leaving work some of my workmates were saying that if they had known that he was touring then they would have made arangements and gone but since the media here gives him none or very little coverage to established non controversial acts they had not heard he was on tour. One guy even said the local radio had anounced that he had cancelled all the US dates of his tour not just the first 3 as was the case

perhaps meat should sing about cop killing, murder and canabalism like some of tha rappers and then he will get plenty of coverage? (dont do it meat)

Thanks LP for the kind words on my review, I appreciate that. Yes, the venue was nowhere near full and promo is dismal in the US. Not only is the advertising for the shows weak, but the venues are not in the mainstream venues like Wembley in the UK. The state of the music industry in the US is such that older, "real" music artists are forced to play in the smaller lesser known venues that don't get the publicity of a larger stadium type venue.

I know many people that just look at the line-up for a season at the mainstream venues and don't venture any further than that. If you are a "hot" band you play there, if not you don't.

For the location and local population centers in the area, it was a good draw and everyone was thrilled with the show. However, if more knew about it, I think the place would have sold out.

The next week we attended a show in Iowa, and that was a sellout and the crowd spilled over into the free area around the venue. Seems this show got a little better promo.

The US is so large and the music industry is in such a state that unless you have your face plastered on every People and Rolling Stone magazine, on E!, MTV and VH1, no one really pays much attention. Oh and it helps to if you can wear next to nothing and dance and lip sync to your CD during a performance.

Today brought better news, a record deal has been cut so now maybe we will get better promotion. Once word is out in the mainstream press, people should take notice and the venues will be filled, especially if the single gets good radio airplay.

I hope you're right Jules ... and his appearance on GMA when the single is released should be a big help :)

Meat needs little promotion to fill big arenas here in UK .. his concerts sell out just by venues offering tickets .. in fact Sheffield's now releasing its "restricted view" seating for all 3 concerts .. and he's not even here until November!

You'd have to ask the venue Testify. I'd hazard a guess that this means they have moved the rear of the arena back, and that some seats (perhaps those in the side raised tiers?) have a poor view of the stage .. but best to ask them

In Plymouth it was announced that the Meatloaf tickets were going on sale and within 48 hours they had all sold out. It was the first time that Meat has ever played here. The Pavilions took out the seats and held 4000 people that night........and what a night. I think Meat could do a weeks gig here and sell out every night.

He's added a lot to this UK leg and so I wouldn't put money on it .. it follows US and Europe .. and he gives so much at each concert he needs the odd rest day :) But he's promised a second European leg .. and given the response in the UK to this leg I'm sure we'll be included in the second one. Venues were selling out as fast as tickets went on sale .. so Meat and the promoters know there's a very ready and willing market :)) As to when that will be .. no idea
