Meat mentioned this many months ago, but no one has spotted it on any release schedule thus far. :bleh:

It was reissued in Sony's Classic Album campaign in The Netherlands. Apart from the new packaging (a hardcover digibook (http://www.bol.com/nl/p/muziek/bat-out-of-hell/1000004011784699/index.html)), there's nothing new there.

Unless there are previously unreleased bonuses, who needs another reissue anyway?

Although it would be nice to have all the tracks remastered to the same quality as on the Very Best Of album, and for Sony to dig into their vaults and finally put out a Bat 1 tour live CD.

they already put out a remastered took the words at the bottom line as a b side to peel out in 1981, so that show at least is in their valts

I would love to see this one get the box-set treatment: remastered album, documentary, maybe outtakes (if there were any), and a live show, in some fashion.

I'm surprised, too. Maybe next year- isn't it the 35th Anniversary?

Unrelated, but look at Appetite For Destruction - another of the best selling rock albums ever, and sorely in need of a bit of spit and polish.

For the time it was released, it still sounds audio-wise pretty decent.

Bat needs, as mentioned - a disc of outtakes or at least an interview of some kind from the era and maybe a 'new' live DVD and the video clips, even though they're easily available, make it all in one place. The same kind of treatment Neighbourhood got sans errors.

Either that, or it could be re-done as the same way Rocks by Aerosmith was - some replica prints, ticket stubs and the album in a box. On second thoughts...

We've had the Bat box set discussion before. I suppose it just shows how popular the album still is that Sony doesn't feel the need to boost sales by putting some effort in.

Anyway, a good box set should feature:

The album, remastered to a higher standard than last time (and remove the click in FCOL before the orchestra kicks in)
A CD of outtakes and alternate edits
A live CD from the start of the Bat 1 tour (My Father's Place or El Mocambo would be good)
A live CD of the Nassau Coliseum show
A DVD featuring the music videos, any interviews and other performances (if such things exist)

I would pay decent money for that lot.

Yeah, B&W footage of Bat from the Bat 1 tour is seen briefly on In Search of Paradise. So I wonder if they own that too. That'd be interesting to see.

I would, too, as would a decent number of people, I'd suspect.
