View Full Version : Battle of the Voices: Early Meat Voice or "The Golden" Meat Voice
Early Meat Voice:
The voice that was his youthfulness and his starting point. And so pure and elegant. Its the voice on BOOH, Rocky Horror, and Free For All.

"The Golden" Meat Voice:
I say this, cause any note Meat hit was literally gold.

for me, while his youthful original voice is outstanding and one of the greatest voices ever to grace this earth, the golden voice I prefer simply because theirs a little more girth and and wholeness to it. Its also less nasal (which isnt a bad thing, as especially hot patootie tended to sound at times.
"HIS VOICE NOW" is NOT an Option cause it'll kill the poll. Lets bring ourselves to the Past for a bit.

I went for "golden". I prefer it as it's more mature.
I went for mature as well. I love Meat's voice the way it is now. Not that I haven't always loved his voice, as that's why I got into his music in the first place.

I happen to really love that soulful sound of his signing in the "youth," voice and the "golden" voice I like too. I esp. love the gospel sounding prayer song. :D
I don't think I could choose one voice over the other, it's like picking a favorite child. :??: "Both are great," mother's say with a wink :)

The early voice. This poll is a bit biased. Would you prefer the 'golden era' when Meat was at his best, or not?

For me it is impossible to choose.
I like the voice of the younger Meat for the raw power he had that could, as is so brilliantly demonstrated with BOOH, literally grab you by the ears and pull you into his world.
However the older more mature voice has lost some of the raw power but he has gained in depth of tone and has a silky quality that no longer grabs you to pull you into his world but now tempts you to give yourself over to the joy & emotion that it contains.
I choose neither one ... because I love his voice today :-)

I bolded specifically try to put yourself into the past. im pretty sure evrybody like you would pick the voice of today. ;)
this poll will piss Meat off;)
Yeah maybe change the category names...I'm sure we all have favourite Meat "styles" as his voice has changed so much over the years, but maybe vote for a time/year rather than these...keeping the peace :))

I'm not aware of Meat having any styles. Meat is Meat is Meat, just at different periods of time with different styles of song and music. I love something in every era!!

I vote neither. it's like comparing apples and oranges. Just don't think comparing them serves any purpose. Everyone's voice changes over time. I have loved his voice and sound since Bat Out Of Hell Came out. And I have loved everything he has done since. Thought Bat III was awesome with its leaning toward metal rock. Thought HCTB was great. And once HIAHB is released in the states, I am sure I wll love that too.

Wario, for me I think the "golden" voice! Don't get me wrong here as his younger voice was brilliant, but it is something about him now that nearly takes my breath away, other than his looks of course :-D

I couldn't have said it better mate. I chose his golden voice, but at the end of the day, Meat is Meat, and if it's the early or late albums then it doesn't matter, as long as I'm listening to Meat :-)
The early voice. This poll is a bit biased. Would you prefer the 'golden era' when Meat was at his best, or not?
I wouldn't say it is biased at all. I think, and you would know that Meat's voice has matured from the early times up until now, but I suppose it's just a case of what stage of his career that people liked his voice. Yes it may not be the best poll to have, but at the end of the day we all love Meat, and really it was his golden era days that brought him to us with BOOH, but some of the younger ones like myself, it was BOOH3. So yeah, I'd have to say it's up to the individual :-)

I'd have to agree with you there mate! Some of his earlier songs I play to death because it is something with that earlier music that I love, but can't describe, but then with the later stuff it is that soul/gospel sound he has, and a bit of country flair like in HIAHB. And with HCTB, well it is just awsome too. For the bloody life of me today I just can't gather words to describe why I like it.

Just another pointless poll. Meat is Meat and I like his vocals on pretty much everything he releases. Not all that crazy on some of the songs but because its a Meat song, I always listen.
